Anyone else watching the Casey Anthony case?

I have followed this case since this child first went missing. Honestly I could not have been a juror as I feel that this girl is guilty, have for a very long time. The fake nanny, fake friends, fake job, fake trips to the beach, child missing for goodness knows how long and the mom is out partying and having a good time, how could she do it? Even if she killed her child by accident, how could she go out and do all of the partying that she was doing with no remorse, no guilt, nada? Watching her this morning sitting there so stone-faced as they present opening arguments just makes me want to pop her in the back of the head and ask her, why, WHY? Anyone else out there think that she is guilty also? I will continue to watch the court case with part of me hoping that they do prove that she is not guilty as it is just so hard to accept a mother killing her own child.

I have no clue what is wrong with our world? I would have taken that little girl. Why couldn't she tell her parents that the responsibility was too much? You can tell that she was not ready to give up her life for that child.

I hope she spends the rest of her life in prison, unable to party, and THINK!

I'm afraid defense is going to try to prove she is mentally ill. I can't wait to hear the defense's opening arguments! Have the TV on in the background - it's so sad.

Like you, I've been following it since it first went down on Nancy Grace. I'm curious to see how it plays out. I'm guessing they're going to go for accidental death by drowning in her parents' pool while she was asleep (re passedo out), and the shock of it put her into such a mental state that she was unaware of and thus not responsible for her actions thereafter, as if she went into massive denial overload or something along those lines.

Tru TV (formerly Court TV)was broadcasting the opening statements and George Anthony\'s testimony today. I hope they do the same thing tomorrow. I\'d like to follow it closely too. I\'ll reserve judgment about guilt or innocence until all of the evidence is in, but my first take on Defense\'s statements was that they don\'t seem to hold much water. I\'m sort of thinking that the sex abuse might be a red herring. I was riveted to the TV set all day--when I should have been trolling the net for a new job!

IMO the defense opening is pure hogwash. I have read practically every deposition, seen videos of interviews, reviewed all evidence released, etc. I am very upset that he maligned Tim Miller from Texas Equasearch. If you know anything about him and his organization, you could understand why. Keep watching, listen to the witnesses.

Calley drowned in the family swimming pool on June 16. George was there with Casey at the time and helped cover it all up. Also, George has been sexually molesting Casey since she was 8. Her brother has also, but not as bad as the dad. This led Casey to learn to lie and cover things up. Also intimated that George could have been Calley's father.

George, who abused and molested Casey when she was little, Lee was at fault also because he tried to molest Casey but was not as lucky as George (note sarcasm please), didn't get as far. Supposedly little Caylee drown in the pool on June 16, 2008, George was home, blamed Casey for allowing this to happen and then told her that he would take care of it. So far, it has been everyone else's fault but Casey's! Isn't this what we have been hearing basically for 3 years???? He talke about how great of a mom Casey was, how she provided a roof over Caylee's head, food in her stomach, clothes on her back, yada yada yada, but it was her parents house that they lived in, they bought the groceries (oh, also, Casey lied about having a job because after all she was molested by her dad and Lee) and her clothes. It really is sickening!! I believe that because of George's known affairs over the years his head has been placed on the chopping block via Cindy and he is being used as a scapegoat. Wonder if this defense works if they will press charges against him for hiding the death of little Caylee and disposing of her the way that he did.

That the whole family has always lived facade-like lives, i.e. Casey attended her uncle's wedding 7-1/2 months preg and when her uncle questioned Cindy, Cindy said she was just retaining water.

Also, he makes pretty compelling case that the meter reader had found and moved the body at least once, and told his estranged son he had found the body and "hit the lottery."

Going to be tuff for defense when alleged chloroform comes in.

I don't believe that about the meter reader either, due to the amount of foliage growth underneath the body. I think the medical examiner can dispute that part pretty quickly too. Like said earlier....pointing the finger at everybody but her. The meter reader may have thought that he had hit the lottery due to finding the body, but I don't believe he had anything to do with it. I think he thinks that he may get some book deals or something out of it. What does he have to gain? nothing. ok. I am done, back to work. thanks. It is what I had pretty much expected. I had heard that George was going to offer himself up as the scapegoat to save his daughter's life, but if this is all factual, why did they not just all come forward and say the death was an accident? It would have been so much easier on everyone, if this is what truly happened. I do not believe any of this though, because I heard the 911 tape from Casey's mom and her astonishment when she found out the babe was missing for 31 days was real. She had no knowledge of any of this at that time. Just another lie to try to get off, but I don't think it will work. The public has heard so many of the lies for the past two years, they will see right through this one too. Thanks for sharing! maybe I will get to watch a repeat later this evening. helped Casey when she ran out of gas. She opened the trunk, put the gas cans in there and there was no odor at all. Now, suddenly there was trash that had been in the trunk for all of this time that was wet and smelly BUT, if all who have followed the case will remember, the infamous scene of Cindy walking into the courthouse and when asked about the smell of death in the damn car she states "there were like 2 pizza bags in the trunk and you should smell it after being left in the Florida weather, it smelled like something dead," or something along those lines. It is on video tape for cripes sake!!!

As far as the meter reader, I agree, I don't think that he moved the body because the roots had grown through the bags and were intertwined in little Caylee's hair and that would be obvious. I feel (hope) that the defense is grasping for straws already.

Is her dad REALLY willing to take ALL the blame for this? I have a really, REALLY hard time believing that he and Casey would cover up a supposed accident to this extent, to the extent of making up people and lying about where Caylee was, etc. Maybe I'm naive and maybe there are people that would do this. If it was in fact an accident, I am thoroughly sickened that either of them, meaning George or Casey, could have at ANY time gone to the police and straightened this out or had this go a different direction. They did all this cover up because Cindy was going to be mad?? That's what I'm understanding; anyone else?

I find it hard to believe that George, a former detective, would agree to cover up an accidental drowning. He would know that eventually the truth would come out and what the consequences would be. However, I do believe, as one poster said above, that because of his previous affairs and his "let downs" to his family, that he has agreed to take the fall. I don't know if he molested Casey and honestly, don't care. I do not mean to sound hateful or hard-hearted but I was molested by a great-uncle when I was 10 and I know the difference between right and wrong. Of course I could have done some horrible things in my life and easily blamed it on the molestation but I didn't and I think that in this situation it is just a sickening excuse for Casey being a piss poor mother!

Baez or however you spell his name, keeps hammering George about Zannie the nanny, making out like it is such a horrible thing that he never met Caylee's nanny. Is this as ridiculous to others as it is to me? I am lucky enough to be able to pick up my grandkids, keep them during the day, for a few days, etc., but there are so many out there that do not have this opportunity so to me this is an absolutely ridiculous point to try and hit home with.

I don't like Mr. Baez a lot and when they show Casey while her father is speaking, I'm seeing her shake her head like 'unbelievable' when he says something she obviously doesn't agree with and I find it distracting and disrespectful, unless of course she was coached to cry at this point and look angry at this point and disagree with what a witness is saying at this point.. which again, I do not like Mr. Baez. I haven't like him since I started watching jury selection...

I think if Baez goes with this defense he may be able to plant enough reasonable doubt... George should get slapped for obstructing justice or something! I'm biased because I despise both Baez and Casey Anthony but I say she will be found guilty within 48 hours of deliberation and given life imprisonment. The defense case didn't even make sense and in the end they put George Anthony on trial - but for no known reason. How about Cindy lying on the stand? I am starting to dislike her almost as much as Casey. Who wants a person who killed a helpless 2-year-old, her granddaughter, to be free? ...

They did a whole day of going over the trial and testimony on HLN today. Just wondered if anyone here buys the defense story that the child drowned in the pool but because Casey was sexually abused by her father she showed no emotion and did not report it. When I heard the verdict, like almost everyone else in the US I was floored. It made me question the whole trial by jury, the validity of the judicial system and whether or not a person will ever be held accountable for this crime. This trial has just been going on too long. As with so many sensationalized things these days (too much in my opinion) it is just going on and on and on too long, with the hopes that a reasonable doubt is created on the part of the defense. Following this trial and listening to commentary there is very little doubt it seems that Casey Anthony murdered her child and disposed of the body. I think a lot of the bias is because she is a pathologic liar. Aside from the lying can anyone take a leap and think she may not be guilty of murder or that the state is not proving it beyond a reasonable doubt? Do you all think that 12 people who got to together to sit in on this case could all be idiots? I think maybe they didn't deliberate and came to a rash decision based on the fact they had been sequestered for so long and wanted to get home. Is it just me or does it seem like the Anthony's had a LOT of pets who died and were buried in the backyard? Our family always had pets growing up, but I don't remember them dying all the time and burying them in the backyard! I think it will all depend on closing arguments and if all Jose Baez has is the drowning accident that was never testified to, the molestation that was never testified to, and stopped cold with no premedidation theory by computer searches that weren't done by Cindy, she may get the death penalty. Nor did they have the sliightest understanding of circumstantial evidence. What is funny to me is when the jurors try to justify their decision, they end up hanging themselves with their lack of knowledge of the case and the rules of the case. I find everything interesting and they cover it on HLN with all the professionals whom we have all worked with. THEY all have the titles, yet look at how nobody can even see a lie from the truth.
