Car insurance question

Posted: Jan 26, 2014

Hi, I don't know exactly how to Google this question and was wondering if anyone just knew the answer?  When I have renewed my insurance in the past online, it pops up my two vehicles, asking me if I own these vehicles and I say yes.  Back six months ago when I got my insurance it popped up a third vehicle and I didn't check that vehicle, just the two I own and didn't think too much about it.  Now, today, I just renewed insurance and AGAIN it popped up the same third vehicle that it had six months ago.  Does anyone know why it would do that?  I mean, does that mean maybe a vehicle got in my name or insurance or something?  I don't even see how that would be possible and where should I look or who should I ask concerning this?  Thanks so much.

I was closing on a home mortgage. The bank was consolidating some small outstanding loans I had. There was paperwork in the mix to pay off a car that I did not own, had never owned, had never seen, and was not even registered in my state. They tried to tell me "just sign the papers and they would correct the error afterwards." I said absolutely no way. They finally redid the paperwork without it. My credit report also showed an unpaid bill from about 15 years ago on a item that I had returned to the company. These sort of things can come back and bite you.

Something similar happened to my relatives. My nephew had applied for a loan to purchase a used car. He was told that the loan was turned down. Months down the road, a third car showed up on his parents' insurance with a bill. Turns out the dealer had gotten the loan approved with a different bank and registered the car without my nephew's knowledge. They claimed to not be able to reach him by phone. Very strange. Took a few weeks to get it straightened out after he was getting bills from his state motor vehicle registry to pay fees plus bills from insurance company and bank. Crazy stuff. Meanwhile, this car was actually sitting on the dealer's lot with plates on it in my nephew's name. They canceled the registration and straightened it out. Very aggravating.

after switching to a new health insurance company you have to wait before you could have hardware removed from an old fracture?  Since it hasn't been 90 days without insurance, would it still be preexisting and/or have to wait a year or two, or can it be done immediately since there was no lapse in insurance? ...

I Have A Serious Question About Health Insurance Mandate...Jul 06, 2012
I've read people railing against the mandate that we Americans should all get health insurance.  Some people say, "The nerve of Obama, requiring that we buy health insurance!"   What I wonder is....why would a person cling to the right NOT to buy health insurance?  I mean, what is the advantage of not having health insurance?  I understand that for some, it's the expense of carrying a policy...but if you don't want to carry ANY health insurance, what do you fo ...

Obama Insurance Question About Preexisting - HelpJan 07, 2013
Well, I'm not a member of many message boards, but am a transcriptionist and post on the MT site some. This has to do with the Obama health law. I'm not stating my political views here, just a question. My husband started going to the doc last year for his back right before or when his insurance (Blue Cross) took effect. He had not had insurance prior to that (at least not in a few years). The doc never did xrays or anything, just gave him prescriptions and took history and sympto ...

Anyone else out there with a son who is under 25 that has been added to your car insurance?  After dealing with our car insurance when our son got his driver's license, I was so aggravated that it cost more "because he is a boy".  I am sorry, but I just don't buy that line.  It is discrimination, plain and simple.  I know they can quote "facts" that boys have more accidents than girls, but that is simply lumping all boys together.  My son waited until he was 19 ...

My Argument With My InsuranceNov 11, 2009
The other day, I got a bill for an ambulance.  I got charged the entire $700+ dollars.  Don't get me wrong - those paramedics were fantastic.  I was having severe chest pain and within seconds, they had an IV inserted, my BP checked, nitro sprayed into my mouth and 1 mg of morphine plus some atrophine in my IV and a nasal cannula. However, I'm being billed the entire amount because the ambulance company is "out of network.".  This will not do.  I dealt with in ...

Insurance Companies At It Again! Feb 12, 2010
Dear MoveOn member, Blue Cross has just announced that it's immediately raising premiums charged to hundreds of thousands of individual customers by as much as 39%—even though their parent company's profits soared to a record $4.7 billion last year.1 Even worse, the insurer has so far refused to explain why they're increasing their rates, and warned that they might do so again this year without warning. The Obama administration is demanding answers from Anthem Blue Cross, ...

So My Insurance Won't Change?Oct 05, 2013
This morning I attended a meeting at the hospital where I work regarding our 2014 benefits.  Yes, I have insurance through my employer, and yes, I am happy with it, but imagine my surprise when I found out how much the cost of my coverage will increase for 2014 because we are self insured and our hospital was levied a fee of 1,000,000 dollars (yup, one million dollars) for fiscal 2014 to help fund the exchanges.  Of course, guess who pays that?  Yes, all of employees.  so tha ...

An MT Insurance Story...Jan 22, 2014
I had insurance through my MT job but never filed a claim as I am relatively healthy and never met the deductible.  I didn't have a colonoscopy until I was 55 or a mammogram until I was 56, my own fault, but my income had taken a nosedive and preventative care was the least of my worries.  I was just lucky that both turned out OK.  I lost my insurance when I was diagnosed with RA and couldn't maintain full time status or production, pretty close though.  Because of ...

No Health Insurance? Read This!Jan 12, 2012
For the past year and a half I have been sans health insurance.  Fortunately, I only have a couple of prescriptions that I take on an intermittent basis, and even those are generics.  Walgreen's has a "Savings Club" for those without insurance.  Normally enrollment costs $15 for a year, but this month only they have reduced it to $5 so I signed up. The club saved me $2 on today's Rx (meaning that the net enrollment cost for me was $3), and ...

Health Insurance Through EmployerMar 31, 2010

What Small Car Owners Should Know About Car InsuranceApr 14, 2015
Americans are known around the world for their love of big cars. Many wouldn’t be caught dead behind the wheel of one of those little cars you’re more likely to see on the streets in Europe. But as gas prices continue to climb higher and more Americans become concerned with the environmental impact of larger, less fuel-efficient cars, small cars are starting to grow in popularity even here. What many haven’t considered is that smaller cars tend to have a lower safety rating. For example in ...
