$204,000 from his website. failed to mention it during bail hearing when he was considered unable to afford his defense and bail. Wow . . . did not know people were willing to actually shell out cash to support their biases.

Especially since it was hyped online as a "legal defense fund," which in fact was later used to bankroll his living expenses while in hiding? The attorney says poor George has just been "dealing with so much these past few weeks," it completely slipped his mind! I am so sure.

Let's crunch a few numbers. $204,000 collected through the website. Bond was set at $150,000 (requiring 10%, or $15,000, to be posted for bail), based on testimony from Zimmerman, his wife and father that they were indigent and could not raise funds for the larger amount of $100,000 bail that would have been required for the $1 million bond the prosecution originally requested. Turns out they could have easily posted that amount with plenty left over for the beleaguered defendant to lay low while awaiting trial....that is, if he were willing to dial back his lifestyle a notch or two.

The $204K was originally deposited in a PayPal account. Only $5,000 of that was used to supplement the bond money. The balance of the $15,000 bail came from Robert Zimmerman's taking out a second mortgage on his home. Wife, dad and mom all claimed they had no idea how much money was raised from the website.

Here's where it gets interesting. Zimmerman admits he used some of the money for "living expenses." The amount his attorney transferred from the PayPal account into a trust fund was $150,000. Huh? $204K minus $5K equals $199K, minus $150,000 equals $49K worth of living expenses? Where did that money go?

He certainly couldn't have spent that much since being recently sprung from the slammer, which means he was using those funds PRIOR TO his testimony at the bond hearing. At the very least, his "oversight" amounts to a big fat lie in lay terms, and told under oath to boot. Can you say perjury?

The Martin Family was understandably furious and asserts Zimmermannochio deliberately deceived the court and want him thrown back in jail. O'Mara is trying to play this as some kind of "whoops, sorry judge, won't happen again" thing. It will be interesting to see how the judge rules on this fascinating new development. Whatever the outcome, George Zimmerman now has managed to call his own credibility into question, AGAIN. Why am I not surprised?

Maybe that is because he has more facts about the case than the above poster. As badly as many people want to believe, this case is not going to be tried by the media. You might once again be very surprised when George Zimmerman is found not guilty of second-degree murder.

No media hype or interpretation is required to get the message they are sending. Apparently the judge and OMara do not share your sentiments about trial by media. The judge refused to issue a gag order requested by prosecutors, which allows OMara to talk to the media to his heart's desire. Here's where OMara stands on the media role in this case: On Friday, he told the court that his client's case is the "most significant media event in the country, maybe IN THE WORLD."

That said, it is worth remembering that the goal of all the activism that brought us to this point was George Zimmerman's arrest and a court trial, nothing more, nothing less. The fact remains that the perp knew very well he had money socked away in a PayPal account which he set up himelf since he had already been living off of it, and deliberately decided not to disclose that to the judge in his testimony. Call me crazy, but bringing his own credibility into question by covering up substantial financial resources in a bond hearing is not exactly what I would call a very smart move.
