Walker/Kleefisch recall cinched with 1 million+ sigs collected plus

Posted: Jan 17, 2012

Scott Fitzgerald, Pam Galloway, Terry Moulton and Van Wanggard...to be recalled as well.  Article says number of petition signers "rivals" total number of votes Walker received in 2010.  Looks like ALEC/Koch bros pitched the wrong battle.

Nice job, Wisconsin.

Wisconsin recalls - mbmt

[ In Reply To ..]
I too am a proud Wisconsinite. Could not believe it when I heard that over a million signatures were gathered. Way to go!!!

Make that 1.9 million, adding sigs for Lt Gov+4 senators recalls - to Gov's count.

[ In Reply To ..]
meaning the total signtures collected exceeds the number of votes cast for Walker in 2012 by 771,000. Another interesting number is 5.1 million, as in out-of-state dollars poured into the stop recall effort on Walker's behalf. Wonder how long it's gonna take for those donors to realize that democracy cannot be bought and sold to the highest bidders in WI?

And I suppose the recall Walker cause has collected not a penny from outside the state? You really expect us to believe that?

If Walker gets recalled and loses, then the conservatives will just recall his replacement, and the cycle will go on and on.

By your numbers, I guess you're assuming that the same people that signed Walker's petition didn't sign Kleefisch's petition?

Its of no consequence to me what you believe, but - since you raise the point

[ In Reply To ..]
are you able to provide any factual source indicating that VOLUNTEERS who have worked tirelessly since November throughout the inclimate snowy holiday season were somehow paid under the table to do so?

Now, about that highly speculative statement suggesting that conservatives will simply recall Walker's replacement. Lest we forget, they will first have to have some sort of justification to do so, organize a campaign that can successfully sell their cause to the WI electorate, then mount a successful effort to collect verifiable signatures that amount to at least 25% of the successful candidate's vote count, before the cycle can go "on and on." Considering that this current recall is only the third time in the history of our country that a governor has been recalled, and that the number of signatures collected broke all existing records, it just might be a bit of a stretch, dontcha think? Good luck with that.

Unlike you, I assume no such thing about those numbers. I simply made the observation as a high five, hats off gesture of congrats and an expression of my profound personal gratitude for all the hard work and effort that went into the successful execution of the task at hand. It might be worthwhile to note that the number of signatures collected to recall Walker exceeded those collected to recall Kleefisch by more than 150,000, leading one toward the inevitable conclusion that not everyone who wanted to see him go signed all other petitions, particularly the ones for the individual senators recalls which, by law, could only be gathered from voters who reside within specified districts.

I also brought up the signature totals as an observation/commentary on a much broader and more important aspect of Wisconsin's case in point as it relates to the future of our democratic process, that being genuine grass roots movement Davids taking on big money Goliaths and coming out ON TOP. Regardless of the outcome of the election itself, their accomplishment to date of having gotten this far in the process is as impressive as it is inspirational. Surely you have noticed that successful blowback efforts against similar such ALEC/Koch brothers power grabs and regressive agendas have not been confined to Wisconsin. Think Ohio. Maine. Michigan. Florida. Pennsylvania. Just sayin'.

Once again, kudos to all those justifiably proud Cheeseheads who have persevered against unimaginable odds and manged to pull off this historical accomplishment.

with cheeseheads! great job. Also interesting to note where gov was yesterday - attending a fundraiser led by AIG head honcho in NY. Big money is aware that citizens are awakening, so expect big, big pushback from them to maintain control of our lawmakers.
