Zimmerman will be charged.

Posted: Apr 11, 2012

I am so relieved for the Martin Family.  Hopefully the arrest they have prayed for is imminent despite the fugitive shooter's whereabouts being unknown at the moment.  Angela Corey will be announcing the nature of the charges and perhaps give a little information on how she arrived at her decision.  It is unclear whether she will comment on the Sanford Police Department investigation.  Zimmerman said he would turn himself in if he were charged, but that remains to be seen.  The Sean Hannity connection remains a mystery, but I bet he is chomping at the bit in anticipation of an exclusive interview.  Stay tuned.

I asked once before and got chewed out - These 2 have nothing to do with politics

[ In Reply To ..]
It was a terrible crime committed but has nothing to do with politics. A lot of people are saying it's because the victim was black which makes it a race issue, but still does not make it a political issue. Besides, until a trial is held, evidence is brought forward everyone here is jumping to conclusions. I guess maybe they think its political because some politician made some assenine remark about if he had a boy he would look like him. Can't say the quote verbatum, just what someone told me. So I guess this politician is now saying this kid is his son. Maybe that is why it's being talked about here.

Obama said that and you soooo took it out of context...lol - nm

Well it still is.... - These 2 have nothing to do with politics

An assnine statement. DH told me the statement but I didn't catch who he said said it. What a racist thing to say...if I had a son he'd look like me????? That's one of those what the **** moments. Regardless of what he thinks we do not all look alike.
The how is this political post put the statement - you take issue with

into a politically saturated context, where all direct (and even vague sourceless third-party) quotes belong.

How is this political? - Let me count the ways.

The Florida Stand Your Ground LAW (1) allowed GZ to go home after he shot and killed an unarmed teenager while the victim’s family was told by the Sanford Police Chief there would be no arrest. LAWS are drafted by ELECTED (2) officials at the local, state and federal levels and subjected to LEGISLATIVE (3) process. The following STATES have expanded their original Castle Doctrine self-defense laws into Stand Your Ground laws similar the one in Florida:

(4) Alabama
(5) Alaska
(6) Arizona
(7) Connecticut
(8) Georgia
(9) Hawaii
(10) Idaho
(12) Illinois
(13) Indiana
(14) Iowa
(15) Kansas
(16) Kentucky
(17) Louisiana
(18) Michigan
(19) Mississippi
(20) Missouri
(21) Montana
(22) North Dakota
(23) Ohio
(24) Oklahoma
(25) Oregon
(26) Pennsylvania
(27) Rhode Island
(28) South Carolina
(29) South Dakota
(30) Tennessee
(31) Texas
(32) Utah
(33) Washington
(24) West Virginia
(25) Wisconsin
(26) Wyoming

The 5th and 14th Amendments of the US Constitution (27) assert no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction equal protection of the laws. Oddly enough, it would be incorrect to assume this applies to murder victims and their families, but it does apply to GZ, the admitted killer who is now charged with 2nd degree murder. On the 911 tapes, GZ tells the police that Trayvon Martin was “up to no good.” He may have muttered a racial epithet under his breath as well. This has raised the spectre of possible racial profiling (28), which was further bolstered by irregularities in the Sanford PDs handing of the case. In response, the US Department of Justice (29) is investigating possible civil rights violations (30).

The civil rights movement (31) has occupied the better part of our nation’s history, and in 2012 it is still a work in progress. The media picked up the story and there was an immediate outpouring of outrage as the it went viral, producing one online petition with 2.1 million signatures in support of Trayvon’s parents, demanding an arrest. Folks and political activists of all sorts began exercising their 1st Amendment rights (32) of freedom of speech, their right to assemble and to petition the government for a redress of grievances, and the media exercised it’s constitutionally-guaranteed free press rights (33). Even the president commented on the case in response to questions from the media (34).

As time wore on, public opinion took a rather ugly partisan turn (35), and sparked a national dialogue on race. The elected officials (36) of the Sanford City Commission, including the mayor, passed a motion of no confidence (37) regarding the police chief’s handling of the case. FL Governor Rick Scott (38) ultimately assigned the case to a special prosecutor, which is an elected post (39). Prior to her official announcement today, NYC Mayor Bloomberg (40) made a brief statement to the press railing against the Stand Your Ground Laws, noting that they have resulted in a significant increase in crime. It is worth noting that the partisan national dialogue is held against a backdrop of NRA (41) and ALEC (42) sponsorship of those laws. Another indicator you might want to consider is how this story has temporarily pushed Rick Santorum's withdrawal from the primary and Mitten's problems with women off the radar on CNN, MSNBC and, last but not least, Fox, home of Sean Hannity, GZs personal media confidante (43). Slush has not been shy about exposing his ignorance on the subject either, when offering up his gem of the day: "The Trayvon Martin Situation Caused Happiness Somewhere In The Civil Rights Community" (44). BTW, the case is entitled FLORIDA vs George Zimmerman (45). Who pays for these trials (46)?

As you can see, there is hardly anything about this case that ISN’T political.
This racial profiling stuff.. Tell me something, - when there have been 8 burglaries
[ In Reply To ..]
in a neighborhood, ALL committed by young black males, how is it possible to NOT profile the next time you are on the lookout for more burglaries there? We can all say racial profiling is wrong, but it is simple common sense. None of us know all the facts yet of this case. Therefore, convicting before the case is heard is NOT justice.
Tell me something. How does anything that happened - prior to the night of Feb 26
[ In Reply To ..]
have any bearing on this case? Does it provide justification for Zimmerman's ALLEGED racial slur....alleged in the sense that it may or may not have occurred. Does it justify his decision to disregard the dispatcher's EXPLICIT instruction not to follow Trayvon Martin....a decision that is not alleged, but in fact IS fact? Who put Zimmerman in the position to ALLEGEDLY fear for his life....an unarmed kid walking home from the store or Zimmerman himself who decided to ignore police instructions and who escalated the circumstances from casual observation to direct confrontation?

I do not think anyone can deny that the POSSIBILITY that racial profiling COULD have played a part in this, not only on the part of the shooter, but also in the way the Sanford police SEEMINGLY regarded the VALUE of Trayvon Martin's life diffrently than that of a unarmed dead white KID when it came time to evaluate the shooter's claim of self defense and whether or not an arrest was in order.

I agree with you. So does Angela Corey, Mark O'Mara, Benjamin Crump et al, Rick Scott, Jeff Triplette, Mark McCarty, Velma Williams, Sabryna Fulton, Tracy Martin, Al Sharpton, 2.1 million petition signers and tens of thousands of protesters who turned out into the streets to express their outrage....who all believe that justice could never be served in the absence of charges, arrest and trial. That's all they wanted. That's all they ever wanted....just a shot at hearing the evidence on which the Sanford Police Chief based his determination that "there will be no arrest" in this case. It's where it belongs now, where all those unanswered questions can be subjected to due process. No one in America deserves less than that.

I'm not expecting to see this case fade away anytime soon. In fact, I want to see it thrust into the spotlight and I look forward to watching the aftermath play out, including the political fallout over the Stand Your Ground laws that have been enacted in more than 20 states across the nation. Also, though I very much respect Angela Corey and believe SHE believes everything she said last night, I think it is fair to say that without the so-called trial-by-media "circus", no arrest would be forthcoming.

Anyone who has been a witness to this process is entitled to their an opinion on what has taken place up to this point. Mine is that the parents of a murdered teen sought justice for their "John Doe" son when they found "there will be no arrest" UNACCEPTABLE. The path they were forced to take via political activism and media scrutiny amounts to extraordinary measures no grieving parents should ever have to pursue. Everything that took place between the moment the trigger was pulled and 6 PM EST yesterday has been vindicated by the simple fact that those parents succeeded in their mission. For me, that they had to do it by any means necessary makes them no different than any other parent, regardless of color, who finds themselves caught up in nightmare of having their child's murder regarded as so much dust to be swept up under the carpet.

The racial profiling....you dont get this at all? - What happened PRIOR was the

reason Zimmerman was there in the first place... backed up by neighbors. YOUNG BLACK MALES STEALING FROM THEM. You cannot help but to racially profile... its from your experience in the past!!! -plain and simply put. Also, yes, the CIRCUS caused the arrest. They did this to prevent these nuts from burning the country down... pathetic. Mob rule again. Sharpton is only slightly a step up from the New Black Panthers. THEY should be arrested!

both had been same race probably would just be a crime story. If there is the possibility of criminal not being charged because of victim being a minority, that makes it political. Also because it happened in deep south where murder of blacks is common. That is how the rapper got his name.

Zimmerman is a minority too, although they - like to call him "white" to stir the pot

Following the case when it's in the news. Was one of them a rapper? I think it's awful in this day and age people are killed because of the color of their skin (or lack of). I thought civilization had evolved past that, just don't understand why dome don't. I've been reading reports about this and this doesn't sound like a race-related shooting. This sounds like someone was doing something wrong. Zimmerman should have shown more restraint when it comes to having a weapon on you. Besides Zimmerman was a minority too. Sounds to me like someone was doing something wrong it had nothing to do with his race, but guess I'll have to wait until it goes to trial and we hear more on the case and what really happened. Still...if I do talk about this I'll go to the correct board (the gab board) since this is not a political issue.

Was GOP Governor Rick Scott up there running his mouth when he appointed her? Sanford City Commissioners Mark McCarty, Velma Williams, and Mayor Jeff Triplett....all up there running their mouths when they cast their no confidence votes against the police chief? The State of Forida vs George Zimmerman...is the court up there running its mouth too? Now that the case is headed to the courtroom where it belongs, the Martin Family will get their due process and if GZ is as innocent as he claims to be, he will be exonerated. Sounds more like justice to me, not a circus.

Defying political power stuctures is American as apple pie, a precedent set by the earliest colonial populations and our Founding Fathers. The right to do so is enshrined in our Constitution, as is the right to free speech and press. This would be the same Constitution that protects Slush Windbag, who sitting still is a one-man 3-ring circus every time he opens his mouth, is always wrong, and whose history of race-baiting is the stuff legends are made of. When was the last time one of his crusades concluded with a mission accomplished, other than his generic garden-variety quest to pit partisans against one another? Any measurable sucesses to report in securing justice for grieving Causacian parents of a murdered high schooler whose black shooter got a pass from his local law enforcement authorities?

Whenever you're ready to have a serious dialogue on racial profiling or an honest discussion on race-baiting for political gain, you know where to find me.
Sharpton is a windbag who breaks out in - protest after protest without any facts!!
[ In Reply To ..]
He has caused an increase in racial tensions over and over. The New Black Panthers should be arrested for their threats. Look what Sharpton did to the guys regarding the "Duke rape" that never happened. He ruined their lives, but never apologized. The African-American girl lied about the whole thing, but Sharpton only went by her "word"... crucifying the guys. Sharpton and people like him are nothing but scumbags for what they do.
