drug test the dead white guy, steadfastly protect the black guy's 4th amendment rights and refuse to drug test him, take his self-defense claim as gospel and let him walk for 44 days without an arrest or bond hearing?

At this point, I think we are way beyond personal disputes between a disgraced, sacked racism-what-racism-? police chief (who was hired to restore the SPD's tarnished racism record) and his superiors being played out in media interviews. Arrest was in order, but was not forthcoming. Victim's family was forced to seek justice outside community law enforcement channels. Thankfully they found it and the confessed perp was not able to disappear with his two passports and fat bank account. Closing arguments are pending. Well-deserved justice is being served. End of story.

Why are you so reluctant to say it out loud? Here. Let me help you out. Start with the concept of the differential between the how the value of the lives of whites, Hispanics, blacks (and let's throw Moslems in there for the sake of argument, just for good measure) are deemed in the media. What kinds of themes underpin stories they choose to focus on when reporting B-on-W, W-on-B and B-on-B, W-on-H, H-on-W, W-on-M, M-on-W, etc. crimes? For example, what characteristics are assigned to each racial or ethnic group? Then take a page out of Journalism, Media and Sociology 101 and discuss how much those choices influence various perceptions in our society-at-large. Think stereotype, a concept with which you are obviously more than a little familiar.
