live mostly in the south: Mississippi, Georgia, Arkansas, New Mexico, Alabama, South Carolina, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Idaho. 45% of those 47 percenters live in Mississippi. 30.4% are the working poor who, even in their struggle to survive, still don’t earn enough to pay income tax so they get tax credits for their children. They still pay payroll taxes and other taxes. 44% are senior citizens who receive SS and have already paid into the system; 5.6% are students who get education credits. Looks like Romney is throwing a lot of his supporters under the bus and they still don’t realize it. I’m not sure he was making reference to the 3000 high income earners who made more than $24 million and paid no federal income taxes.
U.S. Population statistics: Whites 78.1%, Non-Hispanic Whites 63.4%, Blacks 13.1%; Hispanics 16.7%.
When you look at the facts, it's gets more difficult to pit the races against each other with the food stamp, moocher argument.
