Just to clarify things a bit as far as my opinion
Posted: Mar 2, 2015
I wanted to clarify lest anyone keep thinking I am marching lock step with anyone.
I did not like George Bush all that well. I never liked that smirk he had when he was talking. I was not in favor of the war after I found out there were no WMDs. Anyway, I had hoped we would get a good president after his eight years. No such luck.
Okay, I tried to like Mr. O, but gradually all the lies came through and you could not just talk them away.
Now I think of him as the worst president in our history. Sorry but that is the way I see him.
At any rate, never saw a man act so much like a ruler, but I will say that Mr. B was acting rather in that capacity at times.
I will not honor nor respect any man or woman who considers themselves above me or ordinary Americans and considers only his place in the world as THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE. To me, Mr. O takes the championship for that one.
I do not want another Bush or another Clinton in the WH. I would like to have Dr. Carson in the WH. He makes sense, common sense. He may not be experienced, but the man is intelligent and has read many sides of every issue. His mother really helped him achieve his place in this world along with his brother. Imagine a woman who could not read or write (I think) makes her two sons read and write a book report that she could not even read.
At any rate, I clearly like what he stands for. I like his demeanor. He is not angry but comes out as a calm, reasonable person and he is interested in all Americans, no matter what their color.
I being an old white woman know what Civil Rights was and how ugly it was. We have that behind us but some blacks like Jackson and of course our con man, the little fellow who I can't remember the name of but owes a bunch to the IRS and has a TV program want to continue to do. They are just out of a job and want to continue all hatred that was present. Martin Luther King, whom I respected did not want this sort of thing to happen. Of course, there are still areas that blacks need to be higher up in, but there is also responsibility that comes with freedom, no matter what color you are.
Now tell me illegal aliens deserve to be given the whole ball of wax when all of us older folk have worked hard to get our benefits and we don't get huge refunds. We still have to pay a lot of taxes on just a little money that you make to supplement your SS. Honestly, this is ridiculous when young people think we older folk are sponging off of them. I still work and I pay all of my own SS and Medicare, not them. I also have earned my quarters to get my benefit too.
I simply wanted to explain that I do not worship anyone, Mr. B or Mr. O and I certainly think if Mr. O does not listen to Mr. N. we will be in big trouble. I would hate to think we would have a nuclear threat to our country when Mr. O has just about abolished the military and we are going to be hard pressed to round up enough people to be trained to fight and boy will we be sorry if we lose large populations of people to some nuclear event, suitcase bomb or Iran nuclear missile. I remember the cold war and Russia and the Cuban situation. Honestly, I was terrified of the bomb and used to see newsreels in movie theaters about us testing them as well as the constant threat of them in our lives. I do not think we ever practiced the drills most other kids did during the 50s and 60s. At least I do not remember that we did and I am sure I would have. Seems to me that we were such a tiny town in a small county in a midwestern state that it didn't seem necessary to school officials.
Just think about what I am saying. Please some of you wake up and look at his track record, Mr. O. Mr. B did not accomplish or leave behind everything for Mr. O. Mr. O just has not handled much of anything right. He was only interested in his brand of government, socialism and communism. He has systematically nearly ruined our country and if he allows just anyone to come into this country without being screened and give them the whole mess of things genuine citizens should get and that someday you will get, you that criticize all of us who favor conservatism, then I feel sorry for you. It just may not be around for you, no Medicare, SS, Medicaid or anything else to help you when you are old.
I do hope most of you wake up. I hate to see people just keep trying to defend someone just because he is black. I would say our first black president was a huge failure and a huge disappointment. I looked forward to our first black president and I am sadly and most assuredly disappointed in him. ;

I agree with the post you responded to wholeheartedly and wish I could give it 1000 likes. But alas, I can only give it one. Even though I didn't trust him when he was running, (there was just a smoothness and phoniness, I thought, about him, but I hoped I was wrong), I still hoped that once he was President, he would bring the races together. I think they were in a lot of respects already, but I thought, okay, maybe this will be good. But practically instantly, was it a matter of months, when he started with the dividing, and not only by race, but by class, wealthy, poor, party, whatever. He is THE most divisive President we have ever had. I do not trust him to make any deals with Iran. Iran will be a nuclear nation in no time if Obama is allowed to negotiate with them. This has disaster written all over it, but it seems no one can stop him.

you should take it up with all the people who said they only voted for him because he is black.
They are the ones who came out and said so. If someone says "I voted for Obama because he's black", and someone brings that up, why are you offended at the person bringing it up and not at the person who said it?
Just trying to understand.
I am sure the exist, but I have never seen or heard someone come....sm - VTMT

someone come out and state that they voted for President Obama because he is black. I have, however, read posts on conservative sites that state they did NOT vote for him solely because he IS black. I see another case of projection here.
I heard it lots of places. You need to expand your horizons. - nm

I agree with anonie on the issue of race. It is my opinion that race and gender are completely irrelevant with regard to this post and others. Just to prove my point, I will not divulge my race nor my gender. As a registered Republican, I was on the fence with regard to McCain or Obama. I wanted hope and I wanted change. I was tired of Bush. I was disappointed in him. I ended up not voting for Obama, but I was not disappointed that he won. I thought, great, this man has the opportunity to really be an outstanding president and make history in the process during MY LIFETIME! It was exciting. Fast forward 4 years...I did NOT want him re-elected. The writing was on the wall and I could plainly see it. Yes, I think a large part of his voting bloc put him there to make a statement without paying attention to the destruction he brought forth in the first 4 years, not to mention his childish behavior of always blaming his inheritance from Bush. Without a doubt, he will go down as THE WORST president by far in the history of the United States of America on many fronts.
I voted for the white half of Obama in 2008. - sm

I just couldn't bring myself to vote for the wrinkled old man and the talking Idiot Barbie. In 2012, I voted for the black half of Obama because by then I thought it really was time for a black man. A black/white man was close enough, and I overlooked the white side.
Fast forward and many conservatives think it's time for a black/black man and will support Ben Carson because he is black. I had actually considered voting for Ben Carson, but I'm afraid someone would accuse me of voting for him just because he is black.
Obviously, I'm just kidding, but does anyone see my point here?
In 2016, I'm completely over men, and if everything goes like I think it will, I intend to vote for a woman.
Well, I am gobsmacked. - sm

Another conservative complaining about socialism yet concerned about the viability of Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid "or anything else to help you when you are old."
No other word I can think of quite describes it like gobsmacked.

America and never being provided opportunities for developing a world wide view of things? Naivety? Fear? The disadvantaged in poor black neighborhoods and the disadvantaged in poor white rural neighborhoods should be on the same team. Instead, the powers that be have them fearing and hating each other.

statement that there were no WMDs. There were WMDs and they were moved to Syria. There were WMDs and some were found a few weeks after we invaded, some were found buried by NATO peacekeepers, and some were found by ISIS/ISSL just a couple months ago.
So, to say there were no WMDs is another fallacy made by the Bush haters and repeated over and over again hoping people would despise Bush...it worked, too, didn't it? But, the declassified GOVERNMENT reports PROVE that there were WMDs. Of course, those on the left and those that hate Bush will never admit the truth. :)
Someone should definitely let George W. Bush in on this information. - sm

Bush has spoken many, many times about the "freedom agenda" in the Middle East and the fact that no WMDs were found. (link below).

It is also widely known that the neoconservatives like Paul Wolfowitz, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and others planned a coup of 7 countries in 5 years. The neoconservatives had been wanting a regime change in Iraq since the first gulf war in 1991 when Bush 41 refused to take out Saddam. General Wesley Clark speaks on this topic frequently.

Of course, it is undisputed that they found artillery rounds that the United States had given Iraq in order to fight Iran. With the Reagan administration's illegal trading of arms to Iran for hostages and then the United States arming of Iraq to fight Iran, the United States had actually armed both countries. It is globally known and undisputed that these type weapons we gave them existed and were found; however, nothing that would constitute the type of WMDs or weapons program that could harm the US or anything remotely cited by the Bush administration as justification for war was ever found, not by the weapons inspectors prior to the war and not by US troops during the war. They found what we knew was there because we gave it to them in the 1980s. They did NOT find anything remotely that could imminently harm the United States, which was the justification to invade.
The many myriad of different reports about WMDs being moved to Syria or Jordan or Sudan or Iran or Pakistan or Lebanon are nothing more than unsubstantiated and unproven conspiracy theories bandied about in far-right conservative circles.

An OpinionSep 26, 2016I think one of the less talked about appeals of Donald Trump is anti-intellectualism as much as anything else. I'd like some opinions here. I do elderly care. I have a client who is 97 years old. Her mind is quite sharp, but she's in quite a lot of pain due to serious back fractures from falls. She does get around with a walker and all, and she has us, but life is not pretty for her and she has a lot of worries about perhaps someday needing to be placed in a home and such. Personal OpinionApr 09, 2011Since it seems that only rich people run for office...perhaps we should make campaign contributions illegal. Make these politicians foot the bill.
