To make a rather long story short, my 11 YO son was diagnosed as type 1 DM last Monday. This means (in case you don't already know) that he has to take insulin before meals, do carb counting, check his sugar, etc. School started yesterday...he fought and fought me about going, so I didn't send him yesterday or today. We haven't had our f/u with the endo as of yet, so I'm not really comfortable sending him away for 6-7 hours now, depending on teachers to watch him. He starts middle school, which is tough enough, not to mention the DM added to it.
So here's my question; I have the option to homeschool him for a while. This is what he wants right now. I'm torn...on one hand I want to keep him home to keep an eye on him (he's dropped as low as 41 since we've been home from the hospital...very scary). On the other hand, I want him to go to school and get back to his life. I'm asking what would you do? Thanks in advance for any advice!
