interesting opinion piece

regarding "the staggering disconnect between average Republicans voters’ lifestyles and the positions of their party." Illuminating. ;

Interesting to read a liberal's take - dds

[ In Reply To ..]
though it tows the party line, totally slanted to the left. Switch the name "Republicans" with "Democrats" and the same would probably be true for their side; i.e.: "the staggering disconnect between average Democrats voters’ lifestyles and the positions of their party."

An older article, but still worth a read. Found This To Be An Interesting Piece: (warning: Huff Post)Feb 09, 2010
Stuart Whatley Associate Blog Editor The Tea Party Movement Is a National Embarrassment Last summer, when mass protests broke out in Iran following what was seen as a rigged election, Americans cried out in support of the uprising through all possible channels. Some commentators here went so far as to claim credit for the "revolution," as if it never could have happened without American political movements having already set the example. But despite the arrogance of that ...

"Get Over It, Barack..." Amusing Opinion Piece....Nov 08, 2010
"Get over it, Barack..." You see Mr. President, these are in fact YOUR words.  I was listening to an interview of Tim Scott of South Carolina who won a historic race in the Republican “shellacking” of the Democrats this past November 2nd (Notice I used the very Word that the President used).  He was being interviewed on CNN.  It wasn’t really an overtly hostile interview, but you could clearly hear that tone of the drill sergeant in the voice of the CNN ...

Interesting Piece About The "Brown Bailout"...Dec 01, 2010
First, in all fairness, it is not a bailout in the usual sense of the word.  This article deals fairly with the with history of  both companies and does lay out both sides of the coin.  On the face of it, however, it does seem to me to be unethical on the part of UPS and the Teamsters in an effort to wreck their biggest competitor (FedEx).  The part about the strike by UPS and what economic damage it did makes me mistrust unions even more.  Wasn't Jimmy H ...

Hit Piece On Romney From 1965 - (sm)May 11, 2012
Proof that the media in this country is dead.  They can worry about what Romney did or didn't do, bullied a boy, cut his hair, whatever.  It's not even clear and now the one who said he did it admitted he wasn't even there when the so-called incident occurred.  Then they have our not so esteemed President in his own words in his book that no one reads saying he spent most of his high school days in a daze due to drugs.  This is high school folks.  Also we ...

Obama Wore An Ear Piece DuringOct 29, 2012
He would have sucked if he didn't wear the ear piece while having someone tell him what to say.  I wonder who it was whispering in Obama's ear.  The parts of the debate were pretty obvious when Obama would let Romney finish speaking and telling the moderate it was okay to let Romney speak.  Sure....   so Obama could listen to the whispers in his ear and figure out what to say.  http://divine-ripples.blogspot.com/2012/10/obama-wore-ear-piece-during-debate. ...

Trump Vs Obama, Starting To Piece It Together Now...Apr 26, 2016
Now we get it...why Hillary Clinton is so lax and nasty - when Bernie is pushed out, President Obama swoops in and immediately starts campaigning for her. We were wondering why she is so, well, unenergetic, boring and blase...(when she is not yelling erratically and belittling Bernie).  Now I would think Trump and Republicans can worry - do not think honestly Trump could beat President Obama, and that is who he will be running against.  How does that show women to be strong and indep ...

State Dept Spent $185,000 On One Piece Of "fiber" Aug 04, 2016
The State Department doled out six figures for one piece of art made out of balls of thread, to be displayed in an embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Government spending on lavish art has come under scrutiny in recent weeks after a report revealed the Department of Veterans Affairs spent $20 million on artwork while veterans died waiting to see doctors. The VA is not alone in purchasing pricey art on the taxpayers’ dime. The State Department spent $185,000 for “Lares and Penates,” a 9.5 ...

An OpinionSep 26, 2016
I think one of the less talked about appeals of Donald Trump is anti-intellectualism as much as anything else.  His vocabulary has been described as juvenile which I imagine is about the same level as many of his followers.  They are tired of someone with a superior education talking down to them.  They understand Trump and don't have to open a dictionary or educate themselves to know what he's saying.   ...

What Is Your Opinion On This?May 12, 2014
Hello all, I'd like some opinions here. I do elderly care. I have a client who is 97 years old. Her mind is quite sharp, but she's in quite a lot of pain due to serious back fractures from falls. She does get around with a walker and all, and she has us, but life is not pretty for her and she has a lot of worries about perhaps someday needing to be placed in a home and such. She doesn't seem depressed, and doesn't talk about herself wishing she wasn't on this earth or ...

Opinion QuestionMar 30, 2011
Do you think there will be a government shut down?  If your answer is no, please explain why.  If your answer is yes, tell who you think will be to blame and why. Just trying to get a feel for what the REAL middle America (working class like you and me) is thinking about this issue.   I'll start.  I don't think there will be a shut down because an agreement will be reached on the budget.  Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans, despite all thier toug ...

Personal OpinionApr 09, 2011
Since it seems that only rich people run for office...perhaps we should make campaign contributions illegal.  Make these politicians foot the bill.  The amount of money wasted on politicians for their campaigns would put a nice dent in our nations deficit.  Would also get rid of this crony capitalism and perhaps get some politicians who actually will do the right thing instead of doing what their biggest campaign contributors want them to do.  Just a thought.  I'm j ...
