I thought Christie looked different. He had lap-band!

Posted: May 7, 2013

I am the biggest liberal you'll find, but I'm happy to see Chrstie has taken steps to improve his health. Speculation is he's doing it for political reasons.  As a Democrat, Christie is one of the few Republicans I respect.  He seems to show a genuine interest in the people he serves.  Even though I don't agree with his politics, he didn't allow political consequences to come in the way of showiing Obama respect, and he takes a more common sense approach rather than the radical right-wing agenda.  If he does decide to run, no doubt he'll be a serious contender.  It will be interesting to see if the right wing will see the light.  As a Democrat, I hope not ;-)

As another Democrat, I agree with you!! - nm

This NJ liberal agrees with you. I'm - so glad he is taking

steps to get healthier. The more I hear from him, the more I respect that man, and I hope he is around for his family and NJ for years to come. I can't imagine how hard it is to eat right and exercise when you are in such a demanding position.

I guess self-discipline - is just too big of a pain

Ridiculous. Instead of making a plan and setting goals, people just trot off to have that quick fix. You don't get fat overnight; you won't get un-fat overnight, either.

I'm not going to judge. But I'm eagerly anticipating him smashing Rand Paul like - he did that spider!!

I don't think surgery is a quick fix. Maybe a crutch. It's a personal thing. I can't wait to see what he looks like in 6 months. I bet he'll be a handsome devil!!

Most MTs understand the health consequences of - metabolic disorders

and refrain from making personal judgments, wildly unfounded by medical fact, against those who suffer with them. Then there's the economic impact of obesity and the laundry list of related medical problems that ensue when action is not taken to combat it. Lap band surgery has reversed or stabilized countless cases of hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke risk, etc that cost Americans both in terms of dollars and cents and human suffering by patients and their loved ones. "Just say no" has been an abysmal failure when applied to the war on drugs and is doomed to fail in this setting as well.

I admire Governor Christie for taking control of his individual situation after 20 years of traditional dieting and exercise that has apparently done nothing more than exacerbate his metabolic disorder. I too look forward to the day when his skinny self throws his hat in the national ring and brings the cons fringe to its knees at the polls.

Bureau Chiefs Band Together For FoxOct 26, 2009
After the White House tried keeping got involved with Treasury's decision whether or not to allow Fox News in a round robin of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg, the five networks bureau chiefs banded together until Fox was permitted in. The joint action shows one of the difficulties if the administration tries to marginalize Fox, especially when that disrupts the network pool. (Fox's own report via Johnny Dollar). UPDATE: From what I hear, the situation was more between Tr ...

Iliotibial Band Syndrome.Sep 30, 2014
So far, the reading I've done on it suggests IT-band-stretching exercises, a foam roller for massage, etc.  Also hip-strengthening exercises.  Have any of you had this, and what did you find worked best for the pain?  (Note:  The pain is located on the outside back of the knee, near the top of the fibula.  Exacerbated by sitting then getting up, climbing and descending stairs, aerobics class, rollerblading, etc.  Biking is a little less painful.) ...

It's all over the news and internet. If this does in fact turn out to be accurate and he did know about the clsoure, this is more proof as noted by the poster below that both sides lie. It's a sad fact of life. That said, Christie was never my GOP frontrunner, but I do hope this doesn't ruin him for good. It appears he's done some good things for NJ, so let's hope that will continue if the people there want him to stay in office. ...

REUTERS,  February 2, 2014:  A New Jersey Democrat leading a probe of the bridge traffic scandal that has engulfed Governor Chris Christie said on Sunday he has seen no evidence to support claims that the governor had been aware of the apparently politically motivated traffic jams as they happened.  The remarks by Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who co-leads the probe, came two days after a former Christie appointee at the agency overseeing the bridge who personally oversaw the lan ...

Romney Thinks FEMA Should Be Disbanded, Gov. Christie No Longer Agrees. SmOct 30, 2012
I'm glad FEMA is here in the Northeast. We have a lot of damage here and a lot of people without power.  Funny how Gov. Christie changed his opinion about FEMA being disbanded after New Jersey got hit with Hurricaine Sandy/Superstorm.  Well, not really funny.  He apparently saw the light. So, if you live in New England or the Eastern seaboard are you still voting for Romney?  You think your state can handle a major disaster by itself?  Think again. ...

Rumors Of Paul Ryan And Chris Christie Joining Pres. RaceAug 16, 2011
Just my opinion, but I think Chris Christie would be better off finishing his term as governor and then running in the next election - I like him, but it's just too soon for him.  Paul Ryan should also think twice about this, as he's not exactly Mr. Popularity, even with some conservatives.  I like him, too, but I don't think he coud garner the support he would need.
