Do Not Ask Chris Christie Where His Kids Go To School

Posted: Jun 23, 2011

This guy wants to be President? Sheesh! What a nasty man.

New Jersey Governor Chis Christie doesn't like it when reporters ask him to provide details on his meetings with Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes.Nor, apparently, is he fond of New Jersey voters asking him seemingly reasonable questions about why he sends his kids to private schools. He made that clear when the subject came up during an appearance on local PBS call-in show On The Line last night. "It's none of your business," snarled Christie. "I don't ask you where you send your kids to school."

To be fair, by the end of the clip, Christie does tell caller Gail that "with all due respect" it was none of her business where his kids went to school. But we now have doubts about his ability to win a This-Or-That style debate.

To fully understand his nasty response, click here to see the video - http://www.theatlanticwire.com/polit...-school/38965/

He's right. - Christie rocks

Whiny Liberal: You don't send your children to public schools, you send them to private schools, so I was wondering why you think it's fair to be cutting school funding to public schools?

Governor Christie: Gail, first off, it's none of your business. I don't ask you where you send your kids to school. Don't bother me about where I send mine. Secondly, I pay $38,000 a year in property taxes for a public school system predominantly that my wife and I don't choose to utilize because we believe, we've decided, as parents, that we believe a religious education should be part of our children's every day education. So we send our children to parochial school. Third, I as governor am responsible for every child in this state. Not just my own. And the decisions that I make are to try to improve the educational opportunities of every child in this state. So with all due respect, Gail, it is none of your business.

That's why we love him.

a big fat bully? I saw the interview, and if any other politician who didn't have an R next to their name answered the same question in the same manner, you would most likely be livid. Let's break it down: That "whiny liberal" first stated "You don't send your children to public schools, you send them to private schools." Well... the whiny liberal is 100% right. She follows by asking "So, I was wondering why you think it's fair to be cutting school funding to public schools?" Well... as a resident of the state of New Jersey, she deserves an answer to her question. He is not the King of New Jersey. He's an elected official... a public servant who has to answer to the public. She has every right to wonder why that elected official is going after teachers/unions, cutting funding to public schools, and also supportive of charter schools (could it be the corporate involvement?). Love him all you want... my crystal ball says he's not going to be around any longer than necessary. He's a fad to the rest of the country... people in his own state can see right through him.

Think of it this way, the media (including some whiny liberal members of the media) recently asked an elected official a rather private question as to whether a certain crotch shot was a photo of him. I wish he did turn around and say "It's none of your business."

she got her answer - anon

A big fat bully? Name calling again? You don't know why he is overweight. How do you know it's not a medical issue? The left would be wise to lay off the fatty jokes. It's ugly. Besides, what does his weight have to do with your argument or his children's school?

She got her answer, but she was trying to hammer him on something and he hammered back. Good for him.

Thank you - no1joe

for your PC thuggery. In case you didn't notice, I was responding to a post that happened to be guilty of name calling, or did you miss that "whiny liberal" thing? Call it stooping to the same level... I really don't care... I call it giving back what's been dished out.

Secondly, she did not get her answer. He spent more time acting like a tough guy and defending what he perceived as an attack by the woman stating that his children go to private school. He did not address the issue of fairness concerning his policy regarding the public school system.

Lastly, being 5 feet 6 inches and 240 pounds at one time in my life, I have a tendency to be FAT. At 240 pounds, I chose to call myself FAT, and being a member of a certain group and catching flack for using insensitive terminology is irritating. Currently, I call myself chubby since a knee injury several months ago which left me unable to engage in my regular exercise routine yet did not do anything to curb my love of cake... if that's okay by you. If you'd like, I could call Gov. Christie a big fat liar with a big fat mouth (generic terms that don't necessarily implicate body size... yet equally accurate as my last statement).
Way to go, Joe! - I would add big fat idiot

Virtually all politicians, liberal or conservative, send their kids to private schools as do most journalists.

More importantly, this sort of question has nothing to do with the quality of American education and how to improve it.

Even more importantly, this shows how low American political discourse has sunk. Instead of discussing the actual issue, it is just tit for tat.
Exactly! I dont blame Christie at all for how he answered. - Good for him ! nm

That's the sound of a driveby. Anyway, please, please, please elaborate on how you think Gov. Christie is a REAL leader fit to be (or even run for) president. I would even settle on some explanation on why you think he's great. And, please, don't say that it's because of his "no-nonsense" style. TIA

Oh... and to the other poster before (not you... the PC police above) that "fit to be" part wasn't meant to be a joke.
He is a Governer, is turning around his state, much - more qualified than loser Obama.

thats for sure. CHRISTIE IS GREAT !! Funny how when you dont like a comment, its a "drive-by". Is MINE a drive-by? Whatever. Read it and weep.
It borders on a driveby - no1joe

A true driveby has no substance to it whatsoever and adds a little "nm" at the end with no message. Yours fits the former description. This isn't to be confused with the "short and sweet" which gets right to the point so well that no message is required.

So, I welcome you also, please elaborate on how he is GREAT. How has Gov. Christie turned around his state? Is unemployment down? Are taxes lower (for everyone... not just the folks at the top)? Crime lower? Education better? These are just some examples.
So, if you agree with the point, its "short and sweet". - Disagree, and its a "driveby"...not fool

what I mean, so your post is trying to twist what I'm saying just to be argumentative. Again, it's not a matter of opinion (anyone can feel free to disagree with me whenever they like... I actually welcome it) it's a matter of substance that determines whether a post is worth reading or whether it's just a ridiculous waste of space. I don't know about you, but I particularly like this site because a) It stays somewhat civil and use of profanity is prohibited and b) you actually get responses that open a subject up for debate. In that perspective, I wish people would use a consistent moniker so you know who you're talking to, but that's just my opinion. Believe it or not, I like to get different perspectives on a topic. It helps me see things in a different light, helps me be more understanding of others opinions, and I like to think that it keeps my mind open and my brain working a little bit better.

With that being said, again, I welcome any of the Christie fans to shed light on why they feel that he is qualified to be president. Why? What has he done that is so wonderful? Is the quality of life in New Jersy so much better with him as governor? *Insert chirping cricket sound here*

I'm curious about this subject because, IMO, we may have reached a point in this country where a fascination with a pop culture fad (everything Jersey) is possibly determining who people would like to see be president. This goes beyond voting for someone who is better looking or we may have seen in the movies... this is reality TV working its way into politics. Unfortunately, the more I get no response on Christie's greatness, the more I think I might be right.

Wish Christie was running for president. Maybe he - could repair what Obama has destroyed.nm

Rumors Of Paul Ryan And Chris Christie Joining Pres. RaceAug 16, 2011
Just my opinion, but I think Chris Christie would be better off finishing his term as governor and then running in the next election - I like him, but it's just too soon for him.  Paul Ryan should also think twice about this, as he's not exactly Mr. Popularity, even with some conservatives.  I like him, too, but I don't think he coud garner the support he would need. Elementary School Kids Can Get CondomsJun 29, 2010
PROVINCETOWN, Mass. (AP) — A new policy in a Massachusetts public school district that makes condoms available to all students, even those in elementary school, is drawing criticism from some who say it goes too far. Provincetown School Board Chairman Peter Grosso says because there is no set age when sexual activity starts, the committee decided not to set an age for condom availability. Under the policy, any student requesting a condom from a school nurse must first receiv ...
