Iliotibial band syndrome.

Posted: Sep 30, 2014

So far, the reading I've done on it suggests IT-band-stretching exercises, a foam roller for massage, etc.  Also hip-strengthening exercises.  Have any of you had this, and what did you find worked best for the pain?  (Note:  The pain is located on the outside back of the knee, near the top of the fibula.  Exacerbated by sitting then getting up, climbing and descending stairs, aerobics class, rollerblading, etc.  Biking is a little less painful.)

PT and Pilates - Rita

I had this a while back. Ouch! Lots of pain. My doc sent me to PT because I can't take NSAIDs. That helped a lot. I've been in a Pilates class since then, and it hasn't come back to that terrible extent any more. Pilates involves a lot of hip strengthening. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback! No insurance or $$, - so will need to fix it on my own.

Roller worked for a while, now not working, as pain is deep in the knee. Exercise makes the pain & stiffness worse, as does rest! At this point, a peg-leg is starting to look good...

Bureau Chiefs Band Together For FoxOct 26, 2009
After the White House tried keeping got involved with Treasury's decision whether or not to allow Fox News in a round robin of interviews with "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg, the five networks bureau chiefs banded together until Fox was permitted in. The joint action shows one of the difficulties if the administration tries to marginalize Fox, especially when that disrupts the network pool. (Fox's own report via Johnny Dollar). UPDATE: From what I hear, the situation was more between Tr ...

I Thought Christie Looked Different. He Had Lap-band!May 07, 2013
I am the biggest liberal you'll find, but I'm happy to see Chrstie has taken steps to improve his health. Speculation is he's doing it for political reasons.  As a Democrat, Christie is one of the few Republicans I respect.  He seems to show a genuine interest in the people he serves.  Even though I don't agree with his politics, he didn't allow political consequences to come in the way of showiing Obama respect, and he takes a more common sense approach r ...

Obama Derangement Syndrome: Hanukkah Edition December 09, 2011 11:31 am ET by Chelsea Rudman Right-wing media have spent years claiming President Obama incorrectly celebrates or snubs Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas, so it's no surprise that this year, they're attacking how he celebrates Jewish holidays, too. Heard Of Restless Leg Syndrome, But More BodyJul 22, 2014
Over the past few years my grandfriends visit me during the summer as they are doing this year. This 12 year old's shaking has started since last year. We just got back from a time in the sun for about 8 days and new happening is that the 12 year old not only shakes her legs but her feet sometimes, sitting down she is knocking her knees together and then I have seen her rocking in a back and forth manner. I not only can see her but feel it, like driving and she is in the back seat having to ...

How Accurate Is The AFP Prenatal Test In Predicting Down's Syndrome?Mar 04, 2010
My niece is pregnant with her first child.  She is young, 19 years old, so she is not considered high risk.  However, in her prenatal screening, she had what her doctor called "a slightly abnormal" AFP test.  Everyone was pretty upset and I did a little research and found conflicting information.  Some say the test should stop being performed because it is inaccurate.  My niece has decided to forego having an amniocentesis because she says it will not change her mind.&n ...
