from this instead of pointing fingers and promoting hate speech and I mean everyone, Sarah Palin, the arizona tea party, the democrats who targeted people and districts on their maps, and all the irresponsible hate speech on this board today.  It is ALL wrong, all repugnant, and it should all stop.  However, we MUST recognize that a sick mind did the shooting and that shooter is responsible for his actions.

Obviously this nutjob was on Pima County and even Homeland Security radar it seems.  Why not put his name and SSN in a database that flags him if he applies to buy a gun?    Don't know when he came onto Homeland Security radar, but if it was prior to him buying the gun last year, perhaps his ability to buy that gun could have been curtailed and would have alerted officials they needed to take a closer look?

Just like every other nutjob when it becomes apparent they might be a danger?  It would be a start.  It would make getting a gun harder.  I am a proponent of the 2nd ammendment, as was Congresswoman Giffords.  However, I don't see a problem with identified nutjobs being on a list that keeps them from legally possessing a firearm and if they attempt to they could be taken into custody and perhaps hospitalized before they can kill someone.  It seems to be time to stop the blame game and starting to try to identify and flag these people before they kill someone.

If you can ban someone from a college campus surely you can ban them from purchasing a firearm.  I am not saying that it would stop it, but it would certainly make it more difficult.

The little nine-year-old girl's mother said she hoped that we would learn from this and that steps would be taken to identify these people before they do these things.  I agree her with her.

Democrats did not target any people on their map in 2004. They targeted states that they wanted to win over using images of targets, not images of rifle cross-hairs along with a list of people. It was Sarah Palin who targeted 20 specific individuals with rifle cross-hairs, including Congressman Giffords.

In addition, the irresponsible hate speech came solely from the Tea Party and other rabid conservatives. People on this forum are only being accused of hate speech because they have exposed the Tea Party for what it truly is.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but please get your facts straight.

I agree the 2004 map was not "targeting" an individual. Not only that, it was 2004. All this really hateful stuff has happened in the last two years, and these words were not a game that should have been played.

Okay. the shooter was first in contact with... - Congresswoman Giffords

[ In Reply To ..]
in 2007 and they found that letter from her office to him in the safe along with his assassination note. That was FOUR years ago.

And why do YOU think a deranged individual would see a difference in a target symbol and crosshairs symbol?

Really???

This is so crazy, just like the schizophrenic killer. - Stop the politics garbage. The left is so

[ In Reply To ..]
full of hating the right that they blame them for everything that happens. Stop! ... blame the killer, not a party. Absolutely shameful of you people !

Should have known. You have no interest in - unifying, only dividing.

You engage in the MOST irresponsible of hate speech while pointing the finger at someone else. You have been asked repeatedly, REPEATEDLY to point one iota of proof that this shooter was motivated in ANY way by anything the "tea party" said or Sarah Palin's map. You KNOW this, yet you persist in trying to drum up hatred for an entire group based on what one person did or said.

You still demonstrate that you are the worst of the worst, capitalizing on a horrible tragedy to further your political ideology. The shooter was a psychotic deranged person.

You are exactly what you have been called, and you are exposing the hard left for what they are...hate mongers who need no excuse and require no proof before going on the net with your hate speech.

And by the way...what makes you think a deranged psychotic mind would make any differentiation in crosshairs or a target? Crosshairs focus on a TARGET. Get YOUR facts straight, and stop furthering hate speech against an entire group of people for what a deranged psychotic did. Stop using a tragedy to further your own ideology.

That is sickening!

The vitriol you continue to post over and over again is irrational and nothing more than hyperbole. Living with this poison inside you is unhealthy and potentially dangerous to your health. Please try to calm yourself down and think rationally. I say this for your sake, not mine, as I find your rants rather humorous. Maybe a nice cup of "tea" would help.
Knew the condescending would start soon. - Signature of the hard left.

Keep it coming. You are alienating more Independents like myself with every word. You tell me, Peacenik. What link is there between the shooter in this case and the tea party or Sarah Palin? Why this rush to judgment? When you have been asked repeatedly to post ANY, you have nothing. You feel it is rational to target another individual or party as a whole for something a deranged individual did?

Honestly? That is A-ok in your books?

The childish cup of tea comment does not become you. And you need to get out the thesaurus and find another word for hyperbole. That one is getting OLD.

Much like your "enlightened" act. You can have the last word. Hate mongers always want it. :p

Wow! Talk about hate speech. Your post is rife with it. - nm

I have not wished to comment on this story, but the messages posted here are just way past reasonable. I have read the absolute hatred people here have posted towards individuals and groups, and with no just cause.

I believe there is more to this story than has even come out. People were blaming the tea party, SP, etc for this before news even hit. Of course it was predictable. Surprised nobody has blamed Bush yet. However, truth be told there is no connection between this deranged individual and the tea party or anyone else. He was a lone person who killed innocent people. More information is coming out as the days go by about him, what he did, etc. I have read that everyone who knew him said he was a decent person and something in him snapped and over the last few days he was totally different person that everyone knew. Nothing links him to any conservative group and I have read that he was a liberal in his politics and read some communist manifesto.

I believe as time goes on we will learn about his actions and why he did the horrible act that happened.

For now I think the people who hate the tea party and anyone conservative with the venom of a snake will only try and connect him with the tea party or conservative politicians, yet they have no shred of evidence to prove this. Their absolute hatred has corrupted their minds to be able to think coherently and with any form of intelligence.

I think the people who report this on TV should follow their own advice when talking about stopping the hate speech. They claim other stations promote hate speech when they themselves are guilty to what they charge other people with. I am talking about Keith Olberman in particular. He of all people has no right to lecture others about promoting hate.

A terrible tragedy has happened in our country. A judge was assasinated, a young child murdered, and a congresswoman severely injured and in critical condition. People should not use this as an excuse to promote their hate towards a political group they don't agree with.

This was a lone person not linked to any group and people should treat this case as such. Anything else is just rubbish.

I wish all the hate speech/blaming on this board would end. There is no reason for any of it. It is a terrible tragedy that has happened. My well wishes for the friends/families of the victims are with them.

If you think that only posters on this forum blame the violent rhetoric of the Tea Party and other conservative groups for helping to incite this unstable individual to shoot Congresswoman Giffords, you must be living in a cave. These feelings have been expressed by numerous individuals via the media, including Congressman Giffords' father and the Sheriff of Pima County. Keith Olbermann's comments were brilliant, and at least he was man enough to accept responsibility for any inappropriate comments he has made in the past. That is more than can be said for Sarah Palin or anyone else on the rabid right.

It is time for you to wake up and smell the tea!

I'm into coffee myself. Not a tea party member and have no interest in it. SP, whom I used to defend in the past lost all respect I had for her reading what she had written. I actually started losing respect for her some time ago. So, I don't care for her and have read things that makes me like her even less.

With that said...this crazed nutbag had nothing to do with the tea party. Linking him to such without knowing the facts is irresponsible.

Maybe KO took responsible after I turned off his spew from a link someone posted here. I could stomach his commentary until he started blaming everyone else for hate speech except himself. Now...with that said...maybe I turned off his spew too early. I can't believe he would take responsibility for also stating inappropriate comments. In all my years of watching him I have never known him to take responsible for things he has said.

As for what SP says I do not know as I don't listen to her. I just can't stand the woman.

Additionally, the rabid is on the left too, and if you don't think it is you must be living in a cave and its time for you to wake up and smell the coffee.

Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground - were domestic terrorists.

Timothy McVeigh was a domestic terrorist. This was a deranged kid who has been mentally ill for years.

There is a HUGE difference.

No he wasn't. He was a lunatic nut bag - there is a difference

He was not a domestic terrorist. Not every murderer is a "domestic terrorist". He was going after specific people. He is nothing like Ayers or other domestic terrorists.
