I'm not sure I can handle a political board, LOL

Posted: Apr 21, 2011

I always enjoy dropping by here for a break, between tasks. I'm learning that I get cranky about politics. Obviously I need an outlet from stressful work, but I'm just not sure I can handle politics. I'm never cranky around people that I see in person. Why is it so hard to do on forums! I admire those who are able to be statesmanish, even on forums such as this. That is a goal I am setting for myself.

I am done with it.

Okay, I'll post the reply you wanted - see message

If you think we believe you are done with it I just have to say this.... ha ha ha

Been there done that. Do you know how many times I and other posters have said "we're not coming back here". "We're done with this". "We've got more important things to do". Sorry it doesn't work that way. I think the most I've detoxed from this is about 48-72 hours, but then I start having withdrawals and have to come back. :-) I do agree though, it is like All-Star Wrestling.

Hope you took the message in light. I just find it funny whenever I hear people say they are done or not coming back. I think I even read a message one time someone asking how to unsubscribe from here. Now that gave me a belly laugh.

I gotcha beat! I stayed away for 14 days but only 1 time. LOL (no msg) - Backwards Typist

Messages On The Political BoardMar 27, 2012
Reading through the posts I would like to ask everyone again to please stick to issues and discuss politics and leave out the name calling and insulting.  The posts are getting personal again.  People can get into heated discussions.  That is understandable, but would like to remind everyone this board is for discussing politics, not insulting other posters.  If there is a post that has nothing to do with the topic being discussed, but is just to inflame other posters those ...

Not Political, But Applicable To This Board.Mar 13, 2013
A short article highlighting how rude comments tend to polarize and make people dig into their opinion even more, a phenomenon which we probably all know quite well!     More than 1,000 subjects reviewed the blog post from a Canadian newspaper that discussed the water contamination risks of nanosilver particles and the antibacterial benefits. Half saw the story with polite comments, and the other half saw rude comments like, "If you don't see the benefits of using nanotechnolo ...

I've Noticed On This Board Regarding Political TopcsJan 07, 2013
If a conservative posts an article or a concern the liberals will ridicule and make fun of the poster or article instead of ether not contributing or not shutting up (i.e. if you can't contribute intelligently to the conversation then don't contribute at all). The conservatives/indpependents on this board seemt to the be only ones able to handle differences of opinion with intelligent conversations. Conservatives bring up issues that are of real concern.  They are faced with rid ...

A Few Thoughts About The Political Discourse On This BoardJun 30, 2015
1.   Pigeonholes, prejudices and labels:  It's the natural tendency of the human mind to simplify reality.  This is an adaptive mechanism by which we seek to make sense of a world that is overwhelmingly complex and constantly changing.  Even our physical sensory organs (and their respective brain centers) are designed in a way to filter OUT the vast majority of the millions of bits of sensory data that impinge on us constantly. If not, we'd be so inundated with ...

How Should I Handle ThisJan 03, 2012
I feel so stupid.  I just had an interview for a job and met with two different people.  The first person I have her name and e-mail address but the second person I only have her first name and forgot to get an e-mail address for her.  How would you go about getting this persons e-mail in order to send a thank you note?  As I was driving away I realized this and I feel absolutely ridiculous.  I thought about waiting until tomorrow and then calling the main desk and askin ...

How Would You Handle This?Aug 05, 2010
I am looking for opinions on what you would do if the following happened to you.  I have suffered from a rare medical condition since 2001.  Initially I underwent an operation to remove a pituitary adenoma and within a year of that had to two revascularization procedures (STA-MCA bypasses) due to my internal carotid arteries being occluded from an inflammatory process (the rare medical condition--lymphocytic hypophysitis) in the pituitary area.  Due to the devl ...

How Would You Handle This?Aug 06, 2013
My family and I are going on vacation with my sisters and their husbands next week - 4 couples and 4 kids.  I love getting together with my sisters because we don't do it often enough.  The sister who arranges these things is so excited about the trip.  She has a heart of gold and I only want to please her, but I am dreading it because of her husband.  He is very nasty, says very inappropriate things in front of my children, and frequently makes snide comments about me a ...

How Do You Handle This?Mar 07, 2015
I would like some opinions as well as how you handle the below situation. My husband and I are very involved with friends, and we do a lot of dinners at one another's house. Often, it's just my husband and I and just one other couple. Two of the couples in the crowd have a viewpoint that we are a guest in their house, and we are not to help clean up. I understand that, but with their viewpoint, hubby and I feel we are staying too late because they still have to clean up, which could ...

Anyone Have Any Stratgies To HandleOct 03, 2012
First, I have a huge fear of dentists and I mean HUGE.  Not just I don't like to go, I don't go because I sometimes throw up before I have to go (thinks to a horrible childhood dentist, but it carried over to adult).  I get sweaty and nervous and about break out crying thinking of having to go.  So....here is it 12 years since my last dentist visit.  I broke a tooth so had no choice.  The only reason I was able to go my last dentist and tolerate it was because ...

Can We All Please Get A Handle On Our PostsJul 31, 2013
Everyone needs to get a grip on their emotions.  The reason why I delete a post is if a poster is personally insulting another poster.  I'm not going to delete anyones post who is giving their opinion on an issue they feel is important to them. You want to insult me fine, but I'm not going to leave the insults up from one group and delete the insults from another.  I was banning the people who were insulting but they didn't like that.  It also does not help wh ...

No AC ... How Do You Handle The HeatJun 09, 2015
I have almost zero tolerance to heat plus that annoying pin and needle thing happens if I get too hot. And anything over mid seventies is hot. Eighties today, fans, fans and fans! That is about the best that can be done. It gets really nice in the evening or early morning hours. =)So, what do you do? The car does have AC and it is AMAZING! It is a life saver! Ow Would You Handle This? TeensDec 06, 2015
I have a lady who used to work for me and have been like kind of a grandmother figure to her 3 teens. Yesterday I took them to a Christmas parade in our town, cold like in the 30s but warmed up in a short while and by the time we arrived back to my home it was in the 50s-60s outside and my inside thermostat was set at 68. I asked the kids to take off their coats while in house and they stated they were cold, in fact one even was lying on the couch with the blanket she had taken to the parade t ...

How Do You Handle Favoritism In A Small Town?!?Sep 20, 2011
I moved to this very small town 5 years ago, and I have noticed that favoritism, who you know, how much money you have, etc. plays a HUGE part in kids sports, school activities, town activities, etc.  Now, I'm not one of those mothers who thinks that my children are the best at everything they do and deserve to be the star all of the time.  Also I have seen it happen to other kids that aren't my own and I've heard other parents complaining about among themselves whilst s ...

I Need Some Advice About How To Handle Some Difficult Parents. May 04, 2015
I have had repeated problems with these people and I'm done, but my daughter and their daughter are best friends and I just feel bad for the girls.  Here's the situation.  Over the weekend, I took both girls shopping for 8th grade graduation dresses.  We go into Kohl's and the girls take off to the junior section to try on dressing while I shop around.  They make their choices and proceed to the register where my daughter's friend says she has a $100 ...

Need Some Advice On How To Handle A School Situation With My Daughter.Oct 31, 2013
My daughter is 13 and in the 7th grade.  A few days ago, she tells me that she is in a "blue" mood because there are rumors being passed around about her.  I ask her what the rumors are and she said her friends won't tell her because they don't want to hurt her feelings.  Clearly, my daughter was upset.  My daughter is a straight A student, very kind hearted, and well liked.  She has lots of friends and tries to be nice to everyone.  So someone spreading r ...

I Guess This Is Political, If Not, SorryNov 10, 2009
So, I'm a conservative pretty much to the core.  Not as far right as Rush, definitely nowhere near Michael Savage, more kinda like Sean Hannity.  This whole thing about the DC Sniper being put to death tonight kinda has me bugged.  The death penalty is supposed to be a conservative belief.  I realize he killed 10 people in cold blood but who are we to play God and take his life too?  I do understand the Bible saying "an eye for an eye". I read a lot of true crime, ...

BP Oil Spill Becoming PoliticalMay 26, 2010
I never saw James Carville so furious and I don't blame him. This is oil spill is absolutely unforgiveable. The marshlands are being destroyed and probably the whole fishing industry for a few years, if not more than decades. I was reading other reports yesterday and I always read the poster's comments. Some say stop depending on oil and depend on nuclear, solar, and wind. That's easier said than done. Solar and wind are expensive and not a guarantee for northern climates. N ...
