I've noticed on this board regarding political topcs

Posted: Jan 7, 2013

If a conservative posts an article or a concern the liberals will ridicule and make fun of the poster or article instead of ether not contributing or not shutting up (i.e. if you can't contribute intelligently to the conversation then don't contribute at all).

The conservatives/indpependents on this board seemt to the be only ones able to handle differences of opinion with intelligent conversations.

Conservatives bring up issues that are of real concern.  They are faced with ridicule, insults, and childish banter.  I don't see many conservatives post anymore, and the liberals are more than happy to have the board to themselves.

Liberal posters here are why I will never identify myself as a liberal even though I have a lot of liberal viewpoints.

I hope more conservatives will start posting again.  It's sad to see so many misguided posters.  The board needs to become neutral again.

Just sayin that is.

Now..go ahead.  Ready for the childish insults and the "oh my goodness" or "Tin foil hat alert" or "me thinks" or "dear".

Even after not reading the board for a few weeks, nothing has changed.  If anyone knows of any sites where adults are having conversations would love to know about them.  It's just not here.

It goes both ways. - RC

I've noticed that sometimes one side seems more prominent than the other, then the next day it shifts, and so on.

That's just life on a forum where people have differing opinions. It's annoying at times, but when it gets too annoying, I go do something more constructive.

And I would like to point out again, it definitely goes both ways.

I also hope more conservatives start posting. Not - hostile wingnuts, but sensible people who are

[ In Reply To ..]
interested in discussing workable solutions for our problems. The two groups are as different as day and night. A dem.

Problem is, readers often misinterpret - poster's tone/intent,

[ In Reply To ..]
as is common with this type of communication, and thus the name calling begins.

Maybe if you and other posters would stop calling other posters names, this would be more civil - backwards typist

Just in your subject line, you call posters hostile wingnuts. Another poster on the Michael Savage post called them wingnuts.

Dislike my post all you like but you can't deny that if someone starts with a "hostile" post, it only follows with negativity from others.

I second that. I know of 2 conservatives and myself - who have left because of the liberals rudeness/rid

Well, I was just called a murderer by one of them. - sm

So at least one of them is still here.
So ignore those type. That's what I try to do...I know it's hard - backwards typist
[ In Reply To ..]
to ignore, sometimes just can't help it, but it can be done. ;-)
It's hard when "the liberal gang" comes after you all at once. - And they do.
[ In Reply To ..]
It gets very tiresome and I'm sick of it. I rarely come here, but I'll keep an eye out and see if anything changes.
It was a conservative who called me a murderer. - nm

It was a liberal who called me stupid, ignorant, - misguided, racist, hateful,
[ In Reply To ..]
low on the education pole, dear, ridiculed, etc etc.

Since no other poster really knows us and since it makes them look exactly like what they call me I just ignore them.
Am I missing something? - ?

After scrolling through the posts/comments I did not see anyone call anyone a murderer. There was a comment about coffins needing to be filled - was that it?

Reading through the posts I would like to ask everyone again to please stick to issues and discuss politics and leave out the name calling and insulting.  The posts are getting personal again.  People can get into heated discussions.  That is understandable, but would like to remind everyone this board is for discussing politics, not insulting other posters.  If there is a post that has nothing to do with the topic being discussed, but is just to inflame other posters those ...

I'm Not Sure I Can Handle A Political Board, LOLApr 21, 2011
I always enjoy dropping by here for a break, between tasks. I'm learning that I get cranky about politics. Obviously I need an outlet from stressful work, but I'm just not sure I can handle politics. I'm never cranky around people that I see in person. Why is it so hard to do on forums! I admire those who are able to be statesmanish, even on forums such as this. That is a goal I am setting for myself. ...

Not Political, But Applicable To This Board.Mar 13, 2013
A short article highlighting how rude comments tend to polarize and make people dig into their opinion even more, a phenomenon which we probably all know quite well!     More than 1,000 subjects reviewed the blog post from a Canadian newspaper that discussed the water contamination risks of nanosilver particles and the antibacterial benefits. Half saw the story with polite comments, and the other half saw rude comments like, "If you don't see the benefits of using nanotechnolo ...

A Few Thoughts About The Political Discourse On This BoardJun 30, 2015
1.   Pigeonholes, prejudices and labels:  It's the natural tendency of the human mind to simplify reality.  This is an adaptive mechanism by which we seek to make sense of a world that is overwhelmingly complex and constantly changing.  Even our physical sensory organs (and their respective brain centers) are designed in a way to filter OUT the vast majority of the millions of bits of sensory data that impinge on us constantly. If not, we'd be so inundated with ...

When you're having a pretty active day of posting on MT Stars, do you ever start to notice that in the supposedly random letters and numbers that come up for you to copy to verify your message before posting, you start to see your own initials (first name & last name) start to come up repeatedly?  I've noticed this too many times to think this is just a coincidence. ...

It references throughout the form about people living at the residence on 4/1/10, which has not arrived yet, but they want the form right away.  How can we answer something for a date which has not happened yet.  It doesn't say "are going to be living here on this date", it says "were living here on this date".  So in all legality I cannot fill out this form til the date passes.   Just an observation ...

I just saw a woman on CNN blaming Trump for the police shootings of blacks. Didn't they mostly take place way before he took office? I wish one cable news station could be started that would be the opposite of CNN. It would favor Donald Trump, not be owned by the Elite, and it would critique everything CNN says. ...

Someone Just Noticed That Trump Is Getting Stuff Aug 09, 2017
After weeks and months of fixating on tweets and Russia, someone in the press decided to have a look at what the Trump administration has been up to since January. Lo and behold, they discovered that it's getting a lot done. "Trump Has Quietly Accomplished More Than It Appears" reads the headline in the Atlantic. "With the Trump administration's chaos sucking up all the attention," the article begins, "it's been able to move forward on a range of its priorities.... It is rem ...

I Noticed No One Saying Anything About Beyonce And Jay-Z's Trip To CubaApr 09, 2013
It was their 5th wedding anniversary and they went to Cuba, which is against the law; but, of course, they got away with breaking the law. According to the Treasury Dept. spokesperson, they were on a "cultural exchange." Getting away with breaking the law by friends or family of our esteemed President again and again seems to be a habit. How much more is this administration going to thumb their noses at, and/or break the laws of, our country?    ...

I Guess This Is Political, If Not, SorryNov 10, 2009
So, I'm a conservative pretty much to the core.  Not as far right as Rush, definitely nowhere near Michael Savage, more kinda like Sean Hannity.  This whole thing about the DC Sniper being put to death tonight kinda has me bugged.  The death penalty is supposed to be a conservative belief.  I realize he killed 10 people in cold blood but who are we to play God and take his life too?  I do understand the Bible saying "an eye for an eye".
