My son is almost 18 and is a senior in high school. This started back in June. He just started back to school yesterday and it is breaking my heart seeing him ill every morning especially since now he is in school again. No matter what time he gets up, he feels sick to his stomach. He usually starts to feel better around noon.
I drove him to school yesterday and he was gagging in the car. I expected him to call me during the day, but he didn't. When he got home he said he was fine and didn't get sick. This morning he took my car because he had a later class, but he was still feeling sick. I think some of it might but nerves but not all of it. There are a lot of foods that he used to like that he doesn't like anymore. He really doesn't eat much at all anymore. He has been drinking Gatorade before his bed time because I thought maybe he was getting a little dehydrated overnight. He has tried Tums and that made him sick.
I did take him to the doctor for a checkup a month ago and doctor wouldn't do blood work because they usually don't do it until 21 years of age. They did however check his urine and a finger prick for diabetes because juvenile diabetes runs in my husband's family. It was negative. Doctor just suggested trying to eat a little something in the morning and didn't seem real concerne. He cannot eat anything in the morning and the smell of food in the morning makes him sick.
So far he has not called me yet today so I hope he can make it through the day again. He will be going off to college next year and I would really like him to get this under control.
I also googled it and came up with several websites where people of all ages have this problem, but no real solutions.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you for taking the time to read and respond.
