Could really use some prayers right now. Yesterday morning
Posted: Aug 25, 2015
we had to do a most agonizing task... put our almost 16-year-old fur baby to sleep. It's like losing a family member, because our fur babies do truly become family members. Since starting working at home about 15 years ago, she has spent almost all day every day with me. It may sound silly to some, but the pain of her loss is almost unbearable. I think I'm doing okay, but then something triggers that pain again and I can't help but just sit and cry. I would really appreciate your prayers right now. I know that her euthanization was the most humane thing we could do for her, but it still hurts that she's gone.;

Hoping and praying that you will be comforted knowing that others ache for you and your loss. You did the right thing by not letting her suffer and were her best friend and advocate right up until the end. We should all be so lucky to have someone like you in our lives.
Thank you so much. My son brought her home - wannie

when she was just a couple of months old and was technically his dog. However, when I started working at home, she quickly became "Mama's baby" even though he was her owner (he lived at home with us). Even though I might not have been her "owner," she was, most definitely my baby. She used to lie in a clothes basket in the room with me while I worked. I will definitely miss that. Thanks for listening! It really does help to share with others.
Keep doing that - Christine

It is good to share your feelings with others when this happens. I still talk about my precious little Tiny, a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. She died 2 years ago. Let your feelings about her out, and allow yourself to hear your own words about how much you loved your dog. I, too, believe they live on and that we will see them again. Anyone who can give and accept love the way animals do surely will live on.

I know exactly what you mean and you are not silly. Those people who have loved a pet as much as we have DO think of them as family and it's hard that they only last such a short while in our lives even at the best. Take my advice (based on experience), if the depression/pain last longer than a few weeks, tell your doctor. Don't allow yourself to spin down and down as I did. Plus, I FIRMLY believe we will see them again. After all, animals and pets deserve heaven more than people do (again, my own opinion)

I just did the same 2.5 weeks ago with my 13 YO big sweet baby. She spent all day every day With me while I worked, and I pretty much remained in my home with her the last few months of her life without leaving often as she was not doing well.
I ache for her now, find myself talking to her during the day, am sick to my stomach when I walk in the door and she is not there to greet me, and breaks my heart to walk by the pet section at the store, knowing Ill never buy her special treats again.
I know all the important stuff, that it was the right thing to do, that I was a great owner and friend to her, that she had a great life, but it still hurts.
My heart is broken as well. Sending you hugs in this difficult time. I think they know how much we love them, still. I actually went for a drive with my adult daughter the other day (who loved her too), and it felt good to spend time with someone who openly cried with me as we remembered her. That might help for you too.

You have my sympathy. It is never easy to have to make that decision, let alone carry through with it. Even though you know its the best thing, its never something you want to do.
You do not sound silly in the least. One of my babies passed away in my arms almost 4 years ago (scaly though, not furry), and I thought my heart would burst from the pain I felt from losing him. To this day, I cannot visit his resting place without crying. His scaly "sister" is still alive, but getting older, and I also have a large fur baby who is basically attached to me at the hip. I dread when their times come. I have no human kids, so my maternal doting is on them. They are my family.
Rest assured that you gave your furry daughter the best life you could and that she knew she was loved. Prayers, much love and hugs to you and your family.
So sorry! - MTMT

Your post brings back memories of my darling little girl who was my heart for over 12 1/2 years. Though I didn't have to make your heartbreaking decision, the vet did all she could to try to save her. I had her cremated, but it was several months before I could go to the vet's office to bring her home. They did a wonderful job, putting her ashes in a beautiful sealed wooden box with her name engraved on it, and a little paw print in cement. Dogs, just like people, have their own unique scent, and on the way home with her that day, I could suddenly smell her in the car with me! I took several deep breaths, knowing that she really was with me. It was as if she was saying, "It's about time you brought me home where I belong!" And I know she waits for me at the Bridge.
May I suggest that you check out some pet bereavement websites. It really does help when you can meet with others who know exactly how you feel, and you can share stories of your little love.
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." - anonymous

I know exactly how you feel - I put my sweet 17 year old maltese/poodle to sleep about 6 months ago, and I still cry when I think of him. They totally become a part of the family and we have to grieve them in that way.
I am praying that God will give you the strength to get through this and leave you with the awesome memories of all of the love and joy she brought you over the years. It is hard, I know.

like we do people. I have been in your position several times, and it hurts equally bad each time; it doesn't get easier. I'm very very sorry for your loss. You gave your baby a good home and I know someday you will see her again, and she will thank you for that. I believe our pets are waiting for us at Rainbow Bridge, and are scampering around and playing with the others like they did when they were younger. They do so much for us, I can't believe we won't be with them again.
Praying for you now - Christine

The pain you are feeling is not silly at all. These amazing little ones leave an unbelievable void when they are gone. What they give us in their lifetime cannot be put into words. I remember when I was young listening to Joan Baez. One of her songs was about losing a dog named Blue. I think the words to that song say it best. "Old Blue died and he died so hard, shook the ground in my backyard." The pain is so deep, but just know you provided a wonderful, loving home and shared an unbreakable bond with your pet. God bless you.

What's Your Morning MO?Feb 23, 2010I'm just curious about how many of us working at home have the same routine.
I get up in the morning and immediately heat up bottled water for coffee (I use a French press which makes a really perfect cup of coffee), then hop in the shower. After that, I make my coffee and drink it while taking about 10 minutes to put on my mineral makeup (so much faster than the other kind of makeup), eyeliner, lip liner and lip gloss. I then blow dry my hair, get dressed, make a second cup of ...

I Heard On The TV This MorningMar 01, 2011that union members in WI are passing around a flyer with names of businesses who supposedly contributed to Walker and calling for a boycott of those businesses. My problem with this is that employers are the ones who hire employees who pay taxes who fund unions. Isn't that kinda like shooting themselves in the foot? Plus, do teachers not realize that some of the businesses they want to boycott may employ a parent of one of their students...but they are doing all this for t ...
