Looking for best wrist support for carpal tunnel please...sm

Posted: Jan 1, 2011

Can anyone out there recommend a wrist support that actually works while you type?  I don't mind if it's a little expensive, I just need it to allow me to type while giving my wrists the support it desperately needs.  I use one while I sleep but it's too constricting to type with.

Okay...going to take some ibuprofen now for this pain:)

I now use the SoftFlex gloves.
http://www.softflex.com/overview.html

They are soft gloves with 2 bands of cushion running from wrist-to-elbow direction, that take pressure off the nerves.

I have tried the Handeze gloves, and they helped some, but I could really not figure out why. There is also a Smartglove with ergo beads. But my experience is that the beads in other forms still put pressure on the nerves.

I can hardly work without my gloves now (been doing MT 36 years). Personally could not do without my Kinesis keyboard either. Now that is expensive and takes a little getting used to but made a huge difference in my functionability.

Wishing you the best.

Would Anyone With Carpal Tunnel Please Describe It?Jun 26, 2014
I would like to know the difference between just plain fatigue and real carpal tunnel syndrome? Is it specific to one place, or throughout the entire forearm? Is it sharp or dull? Carpal Tunnel ReliefNov 07, 2014
I purchased an arm splint on Amazon.com, but didn't like how it felt and so don't use it. Instead, I go to YouTube and type "carpal tunnel syndrome stretches" or "yoga exercises carpal tunnel syndrome" and there are some effective exercises in effect brief videos, some by physical therapists. "Top 3 Exercises For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" is one that I particularly like. I do some exercise every day or every other day and it counteracts any pain in my right arm. ...

Need Help With My Carpal Tunnel And Forearm Pain.Mar 30, 2011
I had an EMG study a couple of years ago and was told I had mild carpal tunnel in both wrists.  Well, Ive been working two jobs for a while now and it has gotten way worse.  My hands go numb and have to shake them out every so often to get the feeling back and get rid of the tingling.  And now my right forarm has a deep muscle ache, on the top of the arm, up close to the elbow, probably the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle and it has been hurting me for at least three mo ...

Working After Carpal Tunnel ReleaseApr 10, 2013
Hello all, I have a question for those of you who have had carpal tunnel release surgery.  I went to the neurologist today and had EMG and nerve conduction studies on both of my hands.  My right hand middle fingertip is quite numb.  The test showed moderate CTS on my right and a little milder on the left.  it really scares me because of the constant numbness in my middle finger.  I have to go see my hand surgeon after he receives the report from the neuro doc to see wha ...

Anyone With Carpal And Cubital Tunnel Syndrome? SmMar 03, 2015
Just wondering if anyone out there has any good tricks for either of these to help on the job?  I currently have a pillow under the arm that has cubital tunnel and wear wrist splints bilaterally at night for the carpal tunnel, but am having a harder time lately with hand strength and getting my fingers to move right consistently, plus am dropping things more.  Thanks in advance for any tips you might have!! ...

Wrist Injection Jan 11, 2012
I had the injection on Monday for tenosynovitis of the wrist.  As most of you indicated, it was painful, but it did not last as long as I thought.   Prior to the appointment I had myself fooled into thinking he would inject the wrist in the snuffbox area.  I guess that was wishful thinking.   I did not look at what he was doing, but when I felt him push on the needle I knew it was going through a much "harder" structure.   He asked me if I heard a "po ...

Wrist Pain, Not CTSDec 25, 2010
I'm once again having wrist pain in my dominant hand which is worse at the end of my shift.  I took a week off to completely rest it and it helps, but it still hurts whenever I most my thumb, at the base into the top of the radius.  Does anyone have this problem?  I had carpal tunnel surgery 10 years ago, but don't have the same numbness as I did before that surgery.  I tried switching my mouse to the left hand, but it still hurts especially whenever I use the space ...

Painful Thumb And WristDec 12, 2011
About five weeks ago I was cleaning my chairs and sofa with a small Bissel cleaner, and really overdid it.  I have been diagnsed with de Quervain's tenosynovitis of the right wrist.   I tried anti-inflammatory medication which only worked for a day, then back to bad pain again.   My doctor started me on a course of prednisone, which I took for ten days to no avail.   I am scheduled for an appointment with a hand specialist.  I know they sometimes do s ...

For the past year, I have had episodes of pain in my right wrist and hand.  It will flare up and then subside.  I am having a flare up right now.  For the past week or two, my right wrist has been killing me.  I can still type but i cannot write.  Using the mouse really hurts.  I will get shooting pains down my middle and ring fingers.  I can't bend my wrist back at all without pain.  I have been a MT for 4 years.  Could I already have carpal tu ...

O'Keefe Documentary Claims To Uncover College Support Of ISIS Support ClubApr 02, 2015
So, I read on a friend's private conservative blog elsewhere that James O'Keefe, a conservative documentary filmmaker, had just "caught red-handed" some college administrators at a university in Florida who were "encouraging and supporting" ISIS supporters.  I like my friend, but, erm, I don't always agree with his politics and  I'm not so sure his assertion is actually the case on this one.  In fact, the blog author wrote his post based on his assumption on a ...

Bilateral Wrist Pain And SwellingNov 10, 2010
Okay, I've been doing MT work for about 25 years and never had much of a problem with my wrists that a little R&R didn't fix.  Lately, I've been having pain that seems to start in my wrists, causes my wrists and fingers on both hands to swell, and the pain seems to travel up both of my arms to my shoulder region.  It hurts to even reach overhead to change my shirt. Has anyone else experienced this?  I do editing most of the day, which might be why I've ne ...

How Do You Support Someone You Don't Agree With?Jan 09, 2010
My little sister got married young (18), even after we said she should probably wait... was only with the guy for like 8 months but he was joining the military and being deployed, so they got married.  Four years later, she has a gorgeous 16 month old, but apparently is no longer "in love" with hubby.  she says she has felt this way for 3 years.  to make a long story short, she basically doesn't want to stay in the marriage.  My parents who are very conservative tell h ...

Child SupportApr 29, 2011

Not Getting Child Support ??Oct 16, 2012
Dtr owed over 8,000 in child support now and the sperm donor apparently has no intention of working.  Child support enforcement will try to do "address verification" when we give them a new address but that's as far as that goes.  Has anyone ever tried one of those companies that are supposed to help get your back owed money for a percentage?  Do you know what the percentage is?   ...

Something I Bet 90% Of All Voters Would SupportFeb 04, 2016
We simply have to make it so that no individual or entity in society has the ability to exert special influence on elections, either by means of wealth or position.  I don't care if it's Soros, the Koch Brothers, the owner of a news channel, a corporation, or the editorial board of a newspaper.  I say, keep your greedy hands off our elections!  The most basic tenet of fair elections is that no one enjoys special privileges.  We don't let any of these people v ...
