cubital tunnel syndrome - anyone else have this?

Posted: Nov 20, 2012

Well I really did it this time, I kept resting my left arm on my chair while typing or just on facebook, it was a habit, now for week I have had numbness in my pinkie finger and part of my ring finger and part of my palm. I cannot use my pinkie to type, its too uncomfortable. I have since switched chairs to one with no arms and try to keep my arm straight when sleeping, every day I hope to wake up and its back to normal. I had this before for just a few days and it went away, its not this time and I am getting scared. I have no medical insurance so just hoping I can cure myself. Was wondering if anyone else had it and it went away eventually. ;

I had the same thing.... - FloridaMom

I was diagnosed with this and kept typing through the pain until one day I could no longer control my right pinky and ring fingers, and could not finish out my shift. It took two surgeries and two years of recovery before I was able to return to work as an MT. My only advise is don't wait to get treated. This does not go away on its own. I was treated through workman's comp as the result of repetitive strain injury due to typing.

numbness - i have it

I see a chiropractor when I have that problem, and can usually take care of the problem in one visit, just a pinched nerve or something in the neck. What happens when you turn you neck to one side or another? Any pain? Hard to move it?

Still have some symptoms, but not as bad as before. - carpal/cubital

I actually started out with carpal, and after physical therapy sessions, it went more cubital (maybe the cubital was there all along too and I couldn't really tell until most of the carpal symptoms had resolved with therapy?). Similar to what you described, I realized I'd been leaning my affected side's elbow on my old corner desk while final proofing my reports. My new desk is "straight," so I can't do that anymore, and I think my SoftFlex computer gloves are probably the biggest help. Sounds like you're doing all the right things with keeping the arm straight while sleeping, etc. Try ice and ibuprofen too. Best of luck.

Had the same thing - had to quit working at the hospital - not going to have surgery or do drugs. Came home and after a while it went away. Back to typing on the net - came back. After a couple of years - fell over the idea of mag and tried it - couple weeks - pain decreased by half - then added alpha lipoic acid - no pain. Not cured but at least the pain is gone - still sore to touch. It really does have to with your position when you type and comes from your neck and back. - hope this is helpful.

I have been transcribing for 32 years now, am 54 years old.  I started menopause 1-1/2 years ago (so I guess since they say you have to have missed a period for 1-full year that I am officially menopausal).  My world seems topsy turvy.  Is there light at the end of the tunnel.   I have tried working a second job for the past year off and on, but it has been too difficult to concentrate.  After 10 years of working from home, because of the slump in production decided ...

Would Anyone With Carpal Tunnel Please Describe It?Jun 26, 2014
I would like to know the difference between just plain fatigue and real carpal tunnel syndrome? Is it specific to one place, or throughout the entire forearm? Is it sharp or dull? Carpal Tunnel ReliefNov 07, 2014
I purchased an arm splint on Amazon.com, but didn't like how it felt and so don't use it. Instead, I go to YouTube and type "carpal tunnel syndrome stretches" or "yoga exercises carpal tunnel syndrome" and there are some effective exercises in effect brief videos, some by physical therapists. "Top 3 Exercises For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" is one that I particularly like. I do some exercise every day or every other day and it counteracts any pain in my right arm. ...

Need Help With My Carpal Tunnel And Forearm Pain.Mar 30, 2011
I had an EMG study a couple of years ago and was told I had mild carpal tunnel in both wrists.  Well, Ive been working two jobs for a while now and it has gotten way worse.  My hands go numb and have to shake them out every so often to get the feeling back and get rid of the tingling.  And now my right forarm has a deep muscle ache, on the top of the arm, up close to the elbow, probably the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle and it has been hurting me for at least three mo ...

Looking For Best Wrist Support For Carpal Tunnel Please...smJan 01, 2011
Can anyone out there recommend a wrist support that actually works while you type?  I don't mind if it's a little expensive, I just need it to allow me to type while giving my wrists the support it desperately needs.  I use one while I sleep but it's too constricting to type with. Okay...going to take some ibuprofen now for this pain:) ...

Working After Carpal Tunnel ReleaseApr 10, 2013
Hello all, I have a question for those of you who have had carpal tunnel release surgery.  I went to the neurologist today and had EMG and nerve conduction studies on both of my hands.  My right hand middle fingertip is quite numb.  The test showed moderate CTS on my right and a little milder on the left.  it really scares me because of the constant numbness in my middle finger.  I have to go see my hand surgeon after he receives the report from the neuro doc to see wha ...

Obama Derangement Syndrome: Hanukkah Edition December 09, 2011 11:31 am ET by Chelsea Rudman Right-wing media have spent years claiming President Obama incorrectly celebrates or snubs Christian holidays like Easter and Christmas, so it's no surprise that this year, they're attacking how he celebrates Jewish holidays, too. Iliotibial Band Syndrome.Sep 30, 2014
So far, the reading I've done on it suggests IT-band-stretching exercises, a foam roller for massage, etc.  Also hip-strengthening exercises.  Have any of you had this, and what did you find worked best for the pain?  (Note:  The pain is located on the outside back of the knee, near the top of the fibula.  Exacerbated by sitting then getting up, climbing and descending stairs, aerobics class, rollerblading, etc.  Biking is a little less painful.) ...

Over the past few years my grandfriends visit me during the summer as they are doing this year. This 12 year old's shaking has started since last year. We just got back from a time in the sun for about 8 days and new happening is that the 12 year old not only shakes her legs but her feet sometimes, sitting down she is knocking her knees together and then I have seen her rocking in a back and forth manner. I not only can see her but feel it, like driving and she is in the back seat having to ...

How Accurate Is The AFP Prenatal Test In Predicting Down's Syndrome?Mar 04, 2010
My niece is pregnant with her first child.  She is young, 19 years old, so she is not considered high risk.  However, in her prenatal screening, she had what her doctor called "a slightly abnormal" AFP test.  Everyone was pretty upset and I did a little research and found conflicting information.  Some say the test should stop being performed because it is inaccurate.  My niece has decided to forego having an amniocentesis because she says it will not change her mind.&n ...
