Would anyone with carpal tunnel please describe it?

Posted: Jun 26, 2014

I would like to know the difference between just plain fatigue and real carpal tunnel syndrome? Is it specific to one place, or throughout the entire forearm? Is it sharp or dull? Does it happen as soon as you start typing or only after a long period? Thank you anyone. Any information is appreciated. ;

Carpal tunnel syndrome - Vera

I think I have it in my left wrist. I have not been to the doctor yet, but my husband had it and had surgery. That took of his problem. Mine is my thumb, first and second fingers numb. It is hard for me to turn the pages with my left fingers. I have worn splints, not helped much at all for me. Fingers will tingle. Sometimes at night I wake up with my whole hand numb. Mine does not have any pain yet. I have it regardless of whether I am typing or not. The numbness is very very irritating and getting on my nerves. I have looked on Google and it states it basically comes from the C2 disk in neck. I have done those hand exercises. They did not help me to open up the carpal tunnel at all. I do not have any insurance so I just live with it.

Hands go numb at night - wheres_my_job

It hasn't been too bad for me lately, but I had a stretch there a few months ago, a job that involved my hands a lot - and it was pretty bad.

You wake up at night and you literally have NO sensation in your hand at all - you have to just very carefully wiggle your fingers a little bit, change position that you are sleeping in, and get the sensation back in your hand. Sensation AND movement both.

For some reason my left hand is the problem, and not my right hand (although I can have it in both hands). I have not been using my hands much lately for "heavy" work - shoveling snow - mowing the lawn and too much typing can bring it on. So I definitely have to be careful. Also any kind of yoga where you have to clasp with your hands and stretch - absolutely no, can't do it or I will have hand numbness at night.

Hands totally numb at night - Tingling into fingers

sometimes you have to shake your hand to get rid of the numbness & tingling. Needle poking sensation, too

Thanks for the replies. OP - I don't have the numbness.

So, I guess I just have fatigue.

I am sorry for your suffering.

Carpal Tunnel ReliefNov 07, 2014
I purchased an arm splint on Amazon.com, but didn't like how it felt and so don't use it. Instead, I go to YouTube and type "carpal tunnel syndrome stretches" or "yoga exercises carpal tunnel syndrome" and there are some effective exercises in effect brief videos, some by physical therapists. "Top 3 Exercises For Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" is one that I particularly like. I do some exercise every day or every other day and it counteracts any pain in my right arm. ...

Need Help With My Carpal Tunnel And Forearm Pain.Mar 30, 2011
I had an EMG study a couple of years ago and was told I had mild carpal tunnel in both wrists.  Well, Ive been working two jobs for a while now and it has gotten way worse.  My hands go numb and have to shake them out every so often to get the feeling back and get rid of the tingling.  And now my right forarm has a deep muscle ache, on the top of the arm, up close to the elbow, probably the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle and it has been hurting me for at least three mo ...

Looking For Best Wrist Support For Carpal Tunnel Please...smJan 01, 2011
Can anyone out there recommend a wrist support that actually works while you type?  I don't mind if it's a little expensive, I just need it to allow me to type while giving my wrists the support it desperately needs.  I use one while I sleep but it's too constricting to type with. Okay...going to take some ibuprofen now for this pain:) ...

Working After Carpal Tunnel ReleaseApr 10, 2013
Hello all, I have a question for those of you who have had carpal tunnel release surgery.  I went to the neurologist today and had EMG and nerve conduction studies on both of my hands.  My right hand middle fingertip is quite numb.  The test showed moderate CTS on my right and a little milder on the left.  it really scares me because of the constant numbness in my middle finger.  I have to go see my hand surgeon after he receives the report from the neuro doc to see wha ...

Menopause - Please Tell Me There Is Light At The End Of The TunnelMay 19, 2010
I have been transcribing for 32 years now, am 54 years old.  I started menopause 1-1/2 years ago (so I guess since they say you have to have missed a period for 1-full year that I am officially menopausal).  My world seems topsy turvy.  Is there light at the end of the tunnel.   I have tried working a second job for the past year off and on, but it has been too difficult to concentrate.  After 10 years of working from home, because of the slump in production decided ...

Is There Any Words To Describe How Low She Will GoMar 05, 2015
I do not know of such a word to describe how low and at what lengths she will go with her lies.  The answer Greg is yes, she does think everyone is stupid.  This is why she is dispicable and not a leader.  She is not someone who young girls can look up to and she is not inspiring.  Please, someone save us from them.   Or better yet, someone save them from themselves. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4096153022001/gutfeld-does-hillary-clinton-think-were-stupid/?#sp=show-c ...
