What is wrong with people?

While MTs once were able to make VERY GOOD livings at what they do, I think we all agree that today that is just not the case. I cannot understand why people come to this board and actually put down those that are TRYING to pick themselves up out of this now slave-driven career and do better for themselves? A person on here was contemplating a job at Wal-Mart and was completely bashed for that, yet another person being forced to seek government assistance was being praised!?!?! A person who got outside of his/her house and chose to make something more of herself was being put down by others, being called "material" while another person who lives with minimum electricity, no cable, no cell phones etc., is praised for living such a lifestyle!?!?!?!

Ladies, the MT bus has ran (for many of us) and it's time to pick yourself up and find something else profitable to do with our lives. The Doctor's have gotten more and more greedy, causing the MTSOs to make less and the MTSOs have gotten more and more greedy, causing the MTs to make next to nothing. Do you really think the doctors OR the MTSOs are sitting there discussing what meal they could cook that would perhaps feed their family an entire week for less than $20 bucks? I don't think so. Instead of sitting here bashing those that are wanting to be proactive about this, why don't we learn from them, borrow a little bit of their backbone and get ourselves out of this mess?

I finally got up and out myself and have never been happier. I will NOT put off things that I want/need in order to help someone else be successful (MTSO, Doctor or whatever).

It's very tiring to hear people cheering when someone goes on the government dole using money that comes out of MY paycheck. Sometimes people need to do that (severe disability or illness), but I would rather dig ditches and flip burgers than spend someone else's hard-earned money so I didn't have to work.

And it drives me bonkers when I see someone in the supermarket using food stamps for imported cheeses, expensive steak, lobster. Helllo, make that food stamp stretch, why don't you?!

I don't drive a fancy car. I have a prepaid cellphone. I don't wear fancy jewelry. I work two jobs - one as an MT at home and I took a part-time job outside of my home working two 12 hours shifts a week as a unit secretary at a hospital. I receive a measly $100 a month in food stamps for me and my kids to eat on even when the government "considered" my rent, utilities, and a car payment. Apparently, a 100 bucks is a gift in the government's eyes.

I resent those people who have no jobs whatsoever drawing disability and food stamps for phantom illnesses when I practically had to beg the government for the pittance they are giving me to take care of my kids and I'm actively trying to better my situation. You would think the government would reward those who hold down jobs, but still have to live at poverty level because they aren't making nearly enough. No, the welfare system is set up so you are penalized for having a job. Those women who are out there having 5 or 6 kids by 5 or 6 different men, not married, no job, are the ones who benefit from the system. They are rewarded for being morally bankrupt. It's disgusting!

Don't cheer for me because I'm getting food stamps. Feel sorry for me because I have to accept a pathetic amount of help from the government. Help that really isn't that much help at all.

Most of us have no issue with people who truly are trying to make it work, but still need food stamps.

It does drive me kablonkers when people keep having kids when they can't even afford themself, don't bother with a husband to help support the family, then expect you and I to support them. And they cry victim.

I have 2 kids by the same man and I was married to him. I worry constantly about providing for my kids, making sure they have enough to eat and clothes to wear. And then you have women out there having one kid after the other who don't worry about anything because the government and the taxpayers will foot the bill. Phone. I dont get food stamps, but I know a person doesn't have to make a lot of money to have a cell phone. These days cell phones are cheaper than land lines. I pay $40 a month for unlimited everything, internet inclded and I have a smart phone that cost me less than $100 brand new.

And I have nice jewelry. I get my jewelry on sale at Khols and JC Penny. People really should stop judging. You dont know other people's circumstances or why, where or how they get what they have.

You would rather for ME to pay your bills than to work at Wal-Mart. If they cut out government assistance to those who are ABLE to work, then perhaps this attitude would change. You would have to be saying "I would rather starve to death, be homeless and die, rather than working for Wal-Mart" and if that is how strongly you felt about it, that would definitely be your choice. All these people on the dole, we will now have to pay health insurance for. It hit our pocketbooks before in one form or another, but at least we weren't directly paying health insurance for them, which of course is going to skyrocket because of those on the dole because Mr. O is requiring all to have health insurance. And I just love that I'm 58 and will have to pay for birth control and maternity costs in my insurance.

The attitudes of many are just that...."I refuse to do this or that" or "This doesn't make me happy" so I'm not doing it. I'm not particularly whistling Dixie to go to my job every day, but such is life! Some MAJOR provisions should be made the these lazy people who just don't WANT to work or are so picky about the type of work they will do, they should NOT receive a dime from anyone, that is just not fair. This doesn't apply to those disabled, unable to work or actively seeking ANY employment and just not able to find any, because I am more than willing to help them.

Why do I have to pay to have maternity on an insurance policy when (a) at 58, I'm physically too old to have a baby, and (b) I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago anyway?

Why should I pay for birth control so unmarried people can go messing around like crazy? Is there something wrong with abstaining until you're actually in a solid, married situation, making wise financial decisions so you can afford birth control when you have completed your family to correspond with how many children you can afford?

This is all a big mess. People want to mess around all over the place, get STDs that I have to pay for, have babies when they're 15. I'm not inclined to pay for someone's birth control because they choose to you-know-what around. Quit you-know-whatting around, and this wouldn't happen.

I'm not complaining one bit about it because it was MY choice to undergo fertility treatments and take Rx for it, but I paid every penny of it myself! I would never ask anyone to pay for it either. However, I would much rather pay for your birth control versus yet another kid on the welfare system. I'd gladly donate to the hysterectomy or vasectomy fund too (I know several people who should get one!)

There is no logic in what you said, except that an innocent child isn't brought into a stupid situation. So, let's say weighing 400 lbs is better than weighing 500 lbs? None of it is good.

To boot, to pay for their birth control may not even work. A lot of these people are totally irresponsible and don't give a hoot about controlling their impulses, so it's not really even logical to think they'd actually use the birth control.

AND there are many forms of birth control, not just the pill, but permanent sterilization or even IUD or implant that is put in once and not having to be taken every day where they don't feel like it or forget. Planned Parenthood and the like also give out condoms free (yeah I know he has to use it) BUT I would rather pay for your birth control so you don't have anymore kids than have to pay for SNAP, WIC, MA, etc for 18 years because you had sex. Everybody has sex! Abstinence is a very good think and I fully advocate for it, but I'm also a realist!

Well, called my doctor's office again and they told me that my echo was okay. Still didn't have my CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis.
