Need recipe forleftover pork roast

It's on sale at my local grocer's this week and I want to buy it, but mine always turns out too dry. Any suggestions? ...

I was planning to make pulled pork in the crock pot. I never made it before. Anyway the recipe calls for a 4 pound roast. I did not realize until after I defrosted the roast that it is 8 pounds. The 4 pound recipe says cook for 12 hours, shoulder I increase the time. I cannot find another recipe for 8 pounds TIA ...

Years ago my mother made the best pot roast ever and I know she used the cloves rather than in the jar. I have never come close to getting the taste of her's like I would like.
