Seeking recipe suggestions

Posted: Mar 6, 2013

I would like to know if anyone has a delicious recipe that uses curry paste?  I have yellow, red, and green curry paste.  I make the basic veggies and curry with coconut milk, but I would like to know if anyone has tried integrating curry paste in other recipes?  Smile

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

I have read this discussion before and it was quite interesting. However, I should have mentioned that I am trying to find recipes without coconut milk. But thank you for the help, I appreciate it!

Thai chicken soup - anon

I use red curry paste in this Thai chicken soup. We also add mushrooms to ours and serve it with brown rice.

Thank you!

Do you omit the coconut milk? I am trying to find recipes without coconut milk, as my daughter does not care for the flavor.

I use the coconut milk, but have you tried a "light" coconut milk-sm - anon

The light may be diluted enough to where it is not as offensive to her. There is a lot going on in that soup to where the coconut milk does not dominate.

Sometimes I also just use the red paste as a component in a stir-fry sauce with broth, soy sauce, curry paste, etc. You could also try it in one of the peanut butter dressings for noodles. I know I need to get some yellow paste as DH wants me to make Singapore noodles which I have not tried yet. Have fun.
Thank you for the suggestions! - Birdy

my favorite sites are ifood.com and allrecipes.com - they have tips from those who already tired them and 'tweaked' them which helps me, I don't cook much so don't know what to do and hate wasting the money on ingredients.

You are absolutely correct. - Birdy

However, I have been unsuccessful in discovering recipes that do NOT use coconut milk. I was just hoping maybe someone here had created their own recipe that I could try. Allrecipes.com is one of my favorite sites. Thank you for sharing ifood.com.

good luck! and bon apptite! - NM

Have you tried the Food Network site? - Not a fan of coconut milk.

I just went there and searched "curry paste." There were pages of recipes, with and without coconut milk. Saw one for curry turkey burgers that I am going to have to take a closer look at. Also want to try the eggplant curry with almonds recipe (I have had major eggplant cravings lately). No coconut milk in either.

Thank you! - Birdy

That is probably the only website I haven't been on. Thank you for the reminder. :o)

My normally well-behaved 4-year-old takes a martial arts class.  For months, the instructors have been allowing him to act like a monster. I have asked them time and time again to please not allow him to act up, only to be met with, "He's only 4.  You expect too much.  He is just being a little kid." I usually sit and watch to keep him manageable, at least.  The instructor's 15-year-old son also helps teach the class and he play fights with my son, allowing my son t ...

So, my MIL is 100% in her right mind and she is VERY attention-seeking lately.  She has always been one to like to keep the pot stirred and get attention that way as well.  She has a few medical problems, including a seizure disorder and she is always really good about taking her meds and such.  Well, lately, her new thing is when someone doesn't jump for her the minute she says jump she threatens to stop taking her meds.  She says there is no reason to take them anymore ...

There's a guy who I am just friends with (we all kind of hang out together at a local track).  We all walk together at various times sometimes in a group, sometimes 2 at a time or 1 at a time.  This guy and I usually have quite enough to talk about, but occasionally this guy will lapse into total silence.  I have seen him do this with just me, or with me and another person, or a group so it is not personal.  The trouble is, if it's just me and him, that I start feel ...

Hi all- I am in serious need of Christmas gift suggestions, but not just your ordinary giving a gift.  We have some friends who are traveling to Ecuador for 3 months, starting in January. I am wanting to get them an International gift credit card, but I have heard that even using a credit card is a big rigamarole in that country, advance notice, etc. Does anyone know if getting an International calling card (when I'm not the one traveling) is a problem? Okay, so our new neighbors upstairs apparently brought a "gift" with them to share with all of the tenants... COCKROACHES. We've found two so far today, and have lived here for well over a year without ever having them before, so my assumption is the new tenants upstairs brought them with them when they moved in.  Now that I'm done panicking and gagging, I'm still mortified that I have these eight-legged filthy bandits anywhere near me, I thought I would ask on this board ...

Okay, so this isn't earth-shattering, but I'm looking for a solution. My husband is in the retail business and he's always got a wad of keys in his shorts pocket (FL, hence the shorts as opposed to pants!). I've tried all sorts of spot removers, leaving detergent to soak on the spot, etc ...
