pulled pork recipe question

Posted: Jul 6, 2010

I was planning to make pulled pork in the crock pot.  I never made it before.  Anyway the recipe calls for a 4 pound roast.  I did not realize until after I defrosted the roast that it is 8 pounds.  The 4 pound recipe says cook for 12 hours, shoulder I increase the time.  I cannot find another recipe for 8 pounds   TIA

Bump it up a couple hours maybe. - sm

You will likely have to bump up the time by a couple of hours, but not double it by any means. The key to a good pulled pork is to have it able to, like the name, pull apart with a fork, and you can pretty much tell this as you go along. As long as you keep liquid in there, I don't think you can cook it too long and it will just get more and more tender, making it really easy to pull it apart.

Question Regarding A Slow Cooker Recipe I FoundDec 06, 2012
I found a recipe I'm going to post below, but I have a question on substuting something for something else.  It's Braised chicken with potatoes.  Looks yummy.  The recipe calls for frozen artichoke hearts (which I love artichokes), but as I was looking at it thought cabbage would taste good with it instead.  But it slow cooks for 2 hours.  Do you think that cabbage would go mushy?  I have not used my slow cooker in probably 5 years now, but I want to start ...

22 Yrs Ago, Clintons Pulled A Kaepernick On Mother Teresa.Sep 05, 2016
Today, a football player’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem has garnered headline upon headline. Twenty-two years ago, a seated couple protested one of the world’s most beloved figures. In a truly iconic American scene that still captures the attention—and confusion—of the Washington elite, then-President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary, sat in stunned silence amid a standing ovation that followed Mother Teresa’s address at the National Prayer Breakfast. The applause l ...

Sandy Hook Bill Had $60 Billion In Pork Added By TheOct 06, 2015
tried to separate the actually bill from the 85% pork added to it by the Democrats. Now, they are trying to claim the Republicans "withheld funding" to use as an excuse not to fund South Carolina, which is a conservative stronghold, since New Jersey is blue. Democrats politicians were standing on the bodies of the dying and the graves of the dead to pick our pockets. That bill included funding for commercial fisheries disasters for as far away as American Samoa. To claim republicans wer ...

Cookie Recipe?Oct 20, 2009

Really Fast Easy RecipeJun 03, 2011
I have a really easy, quick recipe.  It's sort of Sloppy Joes, but my own version.  Brown chopped meat in a skillet.  Add seasoned salt, onion powder, a hint of garlic powder, and black pepper and stir around.  Throw in some chunks of Velveeta cheese and stir until cheese is melted all through.  Serve on bun of your choice.  You can use regular American cheese, but the Velveeta tends to melt easier and clean up in the pan easier. ...
