Recipe needed for Cream of Mushroom Pork Chops.

Posted: Dec 20, 2010

Does anyone have a recipe for Pork Chops with cream of mushroom soup?  Someone further down on this site mentioned them.  I was hoping for a recipe that you can just stick in the over but when I looked on line most of recipes are for browning on the stove.

I have a supurb one - SM

Pork Chops O'Brien

Brown chops (4-5) in 1 T oil, season with Lawrey's Season Salt, drain.

In large casserole dish, combine 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup (although I like cream of celery better), 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup french fried onions, and 1 cup shredded cheddar. Mix well. Add 1 bag frozen hash browns, mix again.

Lay chops over the top, cover with foil, heat at 400 for 45 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with additional cheese and french fried onions, cook additional 4-5 minutes, or when cheese is melted.

Serve.

Sounds Yummy. I used to make a version of that - Backwards Typist

but using sliced potatoes instead of shredded, no french fried onions, and didn't brown the chops first. The recipe came from "The I Hate to Cook Book" by Peg Bracken, c. 1960s. She had a lot of quick and easy recipes with funny names. She just stated to turn over the chops after a certain amount of time if you felt like it.

Too bad DH won't eat anything 'creamy' either. He really doesn't know what he's missing. LOL

you should make it anyway... I know he will eat it - SM

It does not come out creamy at all...

Just tell him it is a cheezy tater tot casserole and I promise, he will eat it!

Kids dont even fuss over the French Fried Onions cause you don't see them mixed in the casserole, just don't add extra onions on the top of their chop!

My mom had that book! She used it a LOT, and - we had lots of great dinners! (nm)

Layer sliced potatoes in bottom of casserole dish. Pour over 1 can of soup (I personally use Golden Mushroom Soup). Season pork chops and place on top. Pour over 1/2 can of milk. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, turn and back another 45 minutes.

My kids love these. This was a recipe that my mom used.

Thanks so much - cc

These recipes sound so good. I will have to try them all. I have a husband who is not fussy at all which it makes it so much easier to cook for. I knew I could count on you. Happy Holidays.

Here's one my MIL gave me - She's an excellent cook

Coat pork chops with flour, salt and pepper, brown in a pan (no oil), just brown the outside. Put in a baking dish.

Dilute 1 can cream of mushroom soup with enough milk to make a gravy consistency and pour over chops. Bake about 20 minutes on each side (depending on the thickness).

I serve with garlic mashed potatoes.

Another no-fry pork chop & cream o'shroom - sm

Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with cooking spray. Place one cup of long grain white rice into the bottom of the pan. Arrange six pork chops on top of the rice. Season as desired. In a bowl, stir one can of cream of mushroom soup with enough water to make two cups and stir in one envelope of dry onion soup mix. Pour the mixture over the pork chops. Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 45 minutes, until the pork chops are done.

NOTE: You could use pretty much whatever kind of rice you wanted- just make sure your amount of liquid works out right. I use basmatic rice, so my soup/water mixture is about 2-3/4 cup water. I assume you could even use instant rice, but would increase the amount of rice to 2 cups and use 2 cups liquid.

I make the same thing with chicken legs / thighs; sm - ChiaPet

I use 2 cups of instant rice and 1 can mush soup, 1 can cream of chicken soup, plus 1 can of water. Baking time is 1 hour covered and then 45 min with the foil off. YUM.

I did the soup, water, dry onion soup mix combo with potroast, yum - thickened it up with tad cornstarch, twas fabulous

I'm going to make it for myself for New Year's Eve dinner tomorrow as a special treat. Since I have to work through midnight on New Year's Eve, I figured I could use a little "Pork Chop Therapy".

I made this last night, and it was totally YUMMY! - Thanks for a great, easy recipe!

Just curious if you made the mushroom soup recipe I posted and that we made.  It turned out soooo good.  I did find out that hubby puts a few more doo-dads in there that aren't in the recipe.  He LOVES to cook, so he plays around a bit. He also put some mushroom powder in there, but I don't think he deviates too far from that recipe. ...

Sandy Hook Bill Had $60 Billion In Pork Added By TheOct 06, 2015
tried to separate the actually bill from the 85% pork added to it by the Democrats. Now, they are trying to claim the Republicans "withheld funding" to use as an excuse not to fund South Carolina, which is a conservative stronghold, since New Jersey is blue. Democrats politicians were standing on the bodies of the dying and the graves of the dead to pick our pockets. That bill included funding for commercial fisheries disasters for as far away as American Samoa. To claim republicans wer ...

To The MT Who Recommended Jergens Hand Cream...THANK YOU!!Sep 18, 2010
I am, strike that, WAS a diehard loyalist to Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, just because that's what ma always had at the kitchen sink.  Then I read on here that someone loved the scent of Jergens lotion and that it gave them a "lift" during their shift. So, I was in the store the other day and saw this stuff...popped open the cap and sniffed it and nearly died on the spot.  Pure heaven that fragrance!  So, I bought a medium-sized bottle.  That night I came home and dr ...

Ben And Jerry's Ice Cream Threw Their Support Behind BLMOct 16, 2016
“Ben & Jerry’s went beyond making a statement in support of civil rights when they actively accused law enforcement of widespread racism,” Blue Lives Matter wrote. “By spreading these false and misleading statements, Ben & Jerry’s lends an appearance of legitimacy to the baseless claims that police officers are killing men based on the color of their skin. This message has inspired the assassination and attempted assassination of police officers, and it costs officers their lives.” ...

Trump's Ice Cream Gate Scoop By CNNMay 13, 2017
CNN finally got the scoop it was looking for: President Trump is unfair to dinner guests. Trump sat down recently for an interview -- and a four-course dinner -- with three reporters from Time magazine. They dined in the White House Blue Room, and the reporters took note of everything they were served -- and everything they were not. "With the salad course, Trump is served what appeared to be Thousand Island dressing instead of the creamy vinaigrette for his guests," the reporters wr ...

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee CakeApr 01, 2012
I just made the most scrumptious blueberry sour cream coffee cake. It was so moist and sweet, but not too sweet. DH told me it tasted like something we used to get in Germany. So I wanted to pass on the recipe if anyone is interested. I can't wait til later to have another piece. The recipe said to use a mixer, but I creamed the butter and sugar with a fork (my mixer is packed away), then I used a wire whisk to mix the rest. I also used a bundt pan, but am sure it could be made in ano ...
