Now we get it: Romney won't refuse if he's "drafted".

Posted: Mar 6, 2016

So he gets to avoid all of the cost, the time and the arduous work of participating in the primaries, he does a nasty drive-by on the front-runner and then he slips onto the ballot at the convention.

Nice work, Mitt.  I thought something like that was happening, but you'll lose to Hillary because millions of Trump and maybe even Cruz supporters will stay home if that happens!

;

It might just be time to let the GOP die - by suicide.

If the rich old men running the party for their own benefit try to fiddle the primary results because they don't like them, the GOP is dead to me once and for all.

Absolutely. GOP Euthanasia is way overdue! (nm) - Old Hippie

Whoever the GOP nominee happens to be, he will hands down beat the career criminal or the dirty old pervert.
That is the whole problem - Not an outstanding candidate

If Trump is indeed the winner - and at the convention

[ In Reply To ..]
gets screwed out of it, I think there would be a voter revolt in this country. I don't even necessarily like Trump, but fair is fair. I'd vote for him before that slimy Cruz.

Are you talking about Trump? He's a rich old man. LOL (nm) - Truthhurts

Romney as President? - Nick

[ In Reply To ..]
Heaven help us all. He is the man who thought that "middle class" meant people who make 250K a year. Can you say "out of touch?" I am sure he is a decent guy, but he is not presidential material, IMHO.

Romney is a worse choice than Trump. Definitely not presidential material. - anon

I think many voters in both parties feel more or less - dissed by the "ruling class."

I feel like there's a game being played at a whole other level, in a private room somewhere.

It's like watching an episode of Hourse of Cards, but - it's real. We're all being played.

Won't happen. Most the state deadlines are over - Truthhurts

[ In Reply To ..]
Even if it would be a brokered convention, he'd still have to be on the state ballots and each state has a deadline for filing PLUS need how many signatures to petition....

This is a rumor the needs to be trashed immediately. Never happen. Can't happen unless the GOP decides to become a dictatorship.

I wish people wouldn't be so quick to believe everything put out there via comments on social sites and/or the media. We know the media isn't neutral. I just can't believe how many people don't use their heads.

I'm sorry but you are the one who is mistaken. You're talking - about PRIMARY filing deadlines.

[ In Reply To ..]
At the party convention (either one), the party can name ANYONE as their candidate, even someone who HAS NOT PARTICIPATED IN THE PRIMARY PROCESS. In fact, not all states even HOLD primaries and consequently do not have any filing deadlines sa such.

They wouldn't be talking about this if it were impossible, my dear.

Primary elections are not binding on the parties and they CAN - "draft" someone not in the primaries.

[ In Reply To ..]
The primaries are "unofficial" elections, unlike any others, and the "rules" are not even laws. Some hold "open" elections (open to people of any or no party affiliation). Some hold "closed" elections (open only to registered party members). Some don't hold any at all.

The parties hold primaries merely for the purpose of determining the PREFERENCES for the presidential candidates, and are not in any way bound by the results of the primary elections.

You do vote for delegates at the primary - delegates delegates pledged to your candidate

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know how the dems run their primaries, but in the GOP primary, there are some rules. It is not high-handed free for all, where the party "elites" can do exactly as they please. When you vote in your primary or caucus, you are in essence voting for delegates for your candidate. The delegates are bound to vote for their pledged candidate at the convention for the first vote (unless they are released by their candidate.)

If there is not a winner after the first vote, the delegates are free to vote for another candidate; the candidate may ask his pledged delegates to vote for such and such a candidate, and the delegates generally will vote as their pledged candidate asks.
Google it. Both parties can change the rules ad hoc - and have done so.
[ In Reply To ..]
For either party, their convention can indeed be a free-for-all. Read up on the history of the conventions.

Uuhh..excuse me. There isn't even a presidential ballot yet - in any state and no deadlines passed.

[ In Reply To ..]
...except deadlines to be on PRIMARY ballots, which is an entirely different thing.

In fact, no general election ballots COULD exist until the parties hold their conventions!

...and since the parties CAN NOMINATE SOMEONE NOT IN THE PRIMARY it's pretty obvious that whoever fed you this misinformation about "deadlines" doesn't have a clue about the presidential electoral process.

Doctors Begin To Refuse ObamaCare PatientsAug 08, 2014
"Obamacare plans have shrunk payments t physicians so much that some doctors say they won’t be able to afford to accept Obamacare coverage.  Many of the 8 million sign-ups in Obamacare exchanges nationwide already face more limited choices for physicians and hospitals than those in the private insurance market. Posted earlier today or last dark time that one of the Romney's daddy or Jr donated an entire fortune to college education.  I did not verify the information. 48 to 43 is pretty close. In a poll registered voters were asked if election was held today who would you vote for. 48 Romney and 43 for Obama. What this says is it's very close and it still gives me hope that the Romney haters don't outweigh the ones who have a clear mind and will vote based on what is best for the country.
