Diagnosed with Paget's of breast

Posted: Jan 3, 2011

This has took me a while to come to terms with it, but I was diagnosed December 3 with Paget's of the right breast. This was misdiagnosed a year ago as eczema. I have to wait and have my 2nd MRI (as I freaked out with the 1st one) on the 31st of this month with a sedative this time, and an ultrasound to find out how far it has progressed. The mammogram is completely clear though and they did not find any lumps. Much prayers are appreciated as I have a 12 and 6 year old and husband at home. Since this is so rare, I am finding it hard to find anyone that has had this before to know what I can expect. I also am only 36 and had no family history of any breast cancer. I just feel so alone in such a big world full of people.

My prayers are with you. I hope you can find a very caring doctor to see you through this. It is bad enough to be diagnosed with a devasting illness, but on top of that having doctors that treat you with no sympathy or concern. So many doctors just act like their patients are just another number to see...they forget we are people. God bless you. You know, the Great Physician is always with you and He does care for you.

I'm so sorry to read this. Positive thoughts coming your way!

In the meantime, I did a quick Google and found this support group for Paget breast disease patients. I didn't research it but hopefully it's a pretty active group where you can find people in similar situations you can relate with or just vent with.

Good luck with your MRI and best wishes (and hugs) while you deal with this horrible situation.

I'm so sorry...SM - x

I am truly sorry to hear this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Let your family give you the strength you will need to fight this illness. I think it has to be a good sign that your mammogram is clear. I also know that the waiting is probably driving you crazy. Hang in there, and please keep us updated! ((Hugs))

Thank you - you guys are the best

For almost 11 years I have been experiencing random symptoms, stroke-like symptoms at times with paralysis in my face, tingling, numbness, weakness in my left arm, as well as pain in my joints, especially my feet, knees, hands and hips.  On top of this there are days when I ache, hurt and just feel so bad in general that I do not want to climb out of bed.  Two weeks ago I experienced another stroke-like event, ended up seeing a neurologist who ordered MRI (negative for stroke thankfull ...

at the airport don't matter for him-- he's coming home.  Not that I think he should stay away really, but I don't much like the way the press is treating the guy in Dallas.   Got to thinking about that guy in Dallas.  He probably lied so that he could get to decent healthcare, and apparently his family lives here.  He was probably afraid to admit he had contact with Ebola patient in Liberia for fear they would keep him there.  He literally may have lied ...

Diagnosed With Chronic Lyme DiseaseJan 05, 2011
Hi all, I am asking for prayers from my fellow MTs out there.  I was diagnosed with Lyme disease over a year ago still undergoing treatment.  It has been a long road to recovery, but my finances are in shambles right now.  I lost my job typing because of my inability to concentrate and incorrect work constantly.  I went from $700.00 weekly down to $400.00 and still could not do that level of work.  Now I cannot apply for unemployment as I was an IC.  My husban ...

Spoke to the doctor's PA yesterday.  Had to stop taking metformin as it made my ankles and feet swell.  So they have given me glipizide.  He told me to make sure I eat 30 minutes after taking the medication.  Two questions: 1.  Does it have to be 30 minutes or can I eat sooner if I want.  I'm not a breakfast person and a lot of times I forget to eat, so was wondering if I can take the medication then fix myself something and eat it then or do I have to wa ...

Diagnosed With Macular Degeneration, Trying To Gather Some Information On OthersOct 20, 2009
I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration yesterday. I know what this entails. My father was diagnosed in his 80s although might have had it prior to that time. He had the wet type. I think it usually starts with the dry and then can go into the wet. He wound up being legally blind in 1 eye and possibly had some issues with the other one.  I am going to do everything possible to strive towards paying off any big outstanding bills over this upcoming year. Friend Diagnosed With Stage 1B Esophageal CancerMay 19, 2010
Hi all, I have a guy friend who is only 42 years old that was diagnosed with stage 1B esophageal cancer. They were able to remove the tumor and he is now going through radiation treatments 3 days a week for 4 weeks. I would like to make up a care package to give to him, but unsure what I should put in it. I was thinking some inspirational reading material and he is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I have also heard Ensure or Boost is something good to be taking as a supplement and have thought of some ...

Second Nurse Diagnosed With Ebola Was On Jet Night Before Diagnosis.Oct 15, 2014
It was stated earlier that anyone who came in contact with Mr. Duncan was being monitored. How is being able to fly commercially considered monitoring? Let's ban commercial travel from West Africa. Call or email your elected officials. ...

I have always, ALWAYS had large breasts.  At the age of 12 my nickname was Dolly Parton (humiliating).  I constantly battle with breast masses (all benign so far thankfully), back and neck pain.  Recently I went to Belks and was fitted for a bra and even I was shocked at my "correct" bra size ..... 42 DDD!!!!!!!  I have indentions in the top of my shoulders from where my bra has buried into my skin and I am SICK OF IT!!!  I am looking for anyone who has undergone breast ...

Battle With Breast Lumps, Anyone Else?Jun 04, 2010
I have a family history of breast cancer (aunt with bilateral at a very early age) and have been battling with breast lumps for the past 15 years but very frequently over the last five years or so.  My last breast mass excision was about three years ago after a horrible scare but thankfully it, as well as the others, have been benign.  Three weeks ago I had a horrible attack of cholecystitis (very abrupt) and underwent a cholecystectomy.  While showering three days ago I found yet ...

Breast Cancer Awareness, Perhaps Going Too Far?Oct 07, 2013
In an e-mail from child's 1st teacher, there is a notation that October 15th is wear pink day in honor of the Komen foundation.   While I think it is wrong to over-shelter kids, I also have to wonder in this case if this would be going perhaps too far.  It is nothing I will raise a stink over, my son will not be wearing pink as he does not have anything pink but I am just kind of baffled by this. ...

Breast Mass FollowupMay 07, 2014
A few months ago, I posted a request for prayer.  One of the issues was a suspicious breast lump, which was recommended to be reimaged.  After 3 appointments that had to be rescheduled because of snowstorms here in the Northeast, I had followup images, including ultrasound, and ultimately a core needle biopsy last Thursday.  The radiologist called me yesterday to say the nodule was benign.  What a relief! I just want to thank everyone who prayed.  Those prayers meant so ...

Small Lesion On Breast, How ConcernedOct 19, 2009
I just had a mammogram in March of this year, everything fine. I noticed a slightly bigger than pencil eraser size reddish lesion on 1 margin of my breast day before yesterday. I have had other skin lesions and made visits to the dermatologist as recent as about 2 months ago, had seborrheic dermatitis on my face, also notice sometimes I have like a red, itching place on the upper groin. I wonder if I should be worried enough to go back in and have this latest place checked out? ...

The Breast Pump Industry Is Booming, Thanks To Obamacare. :)Jan 05, 2013
