My friend who has cancer

Posted: Sep 15, 2011

Please pray for my friend Gina, who is in her early 50s and has inoperable lung cancer metastasized to the bone.  She has decided against treatment so she can have a good quality of life in her remaining days.

Does she know Jesus. Please make sure that she accepts Him as her Lord and Savior if she has not already. May God give her comfort and minimal pain as she goes through this process. May He also give the family understanding and strength as they help her and comfort her on her journey to her permanent home in heaven, where there is no suffering, where she will be restored, where the streets are made of gold and the blades of grass lined by diamonds. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.

I prayed for her too. I hope her final days are made comfortable. I know how hard it is for you too, losing someone who has been a part of your life.

Friend Diagnosed With Stage 1B Esophageal CancerMay 19, 2010
Hi all, I have a guy friend who is only 42 years old that was diagnosed with stage 1B esophageal cancer. They were able to remove the tumor and he is now going through radiation treatments 3 days a week for 4 weeks. I would like to make up a care package to give to him, but unsure what I should put in it. I was thinking some inspirational reading material and he is a huge Led Zeppelin fan. I have also heard Ensure or Boost is something good to be taking as a supplement and have thought of some ...

I Have CancerSep 24, 2011
I consider this my MT community.  I feel we have a sense of sisterhood here. Renal cell carcinoma.  What I thought was bouts of kidney stones for the last year has been a massive tumor growing on my left kidney.  CT scan reveals a left lower pole renal mass measuring 10 x 7 cm.  I am scheduled for left nephrectomy on Friday, but hopefully sooner.  Knowing this thing is growing inside me is horrible.  I am handling it very calmly, which is surprising even to m ...

CancerSep 07, 2013
I just had an ultrasound and a biopsy the other day for postmenopausal bleeding. The doctor said he had to test for cancer of course. I found out by many sources that cancer cannot live in your body if your pH balance is over 7.1. So I thought I would share some of this with you. Cancer cannot survive in an alkaline body, which is pH over 7.1. Keep your pH balance over 7.1 by eating these alkaline foods. Of course, the ultimate goal is balance. Eating too many alkalizing foods can lead to its ...

Followup On My Skin CancerJan 11, 2010
Well, I had my surgery on New Year's Eve, and came away with an 8 cm incision wrapping around my dorsal forearm.  I got the pathology back and it was a well differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, 3 x 3.5 cm, all margins clear.  Right now looking at the incision it's hard to imagine that he's correct when he says it will eventually be just a very thin white line.  It looks like someone tried to cut my arm off.  I have to go back every three months for a recheck ...

Breast Cancer Awareness, Perhaps Going Too Far?Oct 07, 2013
In an e-mail from child's 1st teacher, there is a notation that October 15th is wear pink day in honor of the Komen foundation.   While I think it is wrong to over-shelter kids, I also have to wonder in this case if this would be going perhaps too far.  It is nothing I will raise a stink over, my son will not be wearing pink as he does not have anything pink but I am just kind of baffled by this. ...

Mother Has Stage IV Lung Cancer... Not Sure What Happens NextFeb 04, 2010
My mother was diagnosed the last week of December with lung cancer that has spread to the liver, adrenal glands, and brain.  She had complications such as left-sided weakness, internal bleeding (last week transfused with 6 units of blood) and also has a blood clot in her leg.  The oncologist pretty much said he couldn't treat the cancer any longer because of the possibility of more internal bleeding.  My parents feel like they've just been written off and that my mo ...

Cervical Cancer Diagnosis Up 8% In Young WomenNov 25, 2015
How about that? Younger women who now are covered under health insurance/Obamacare now are being diagnosed with cervical cancer at an earlier, more treatable age. I am not surprised. * * * Researchers used the National Cancer Data Base, a hospital-based registry of about 70 percent of all cancer cases in the United States. They compared diagnoses for women ages 21 to 25 who had cervical cancer with those for women ages 26 to 34, before and after the health law provision (OBAMACARE) began ...

The complaints spurred the Pentagon’s inspector general to open an investigation into the ...

Cancer-stricken Children, Parents, Ejected From Park NearSep 21, 2015

Tea Partiers Protest Clean Water Rules Meant To Prevent Bladder CancerNov 12, 2010
These goofy, goofy tea baggers. Let them get bladder cancer. WASHINGTON -- An attempt by a Kentucky water district to raise rates in order to meet clean water regulations has become political, with a local Tea Party organization stepping in and arguing that the county should simply ignore federal rules. The Northern Kentucky Water District is seeking a 25 percent rate increase by January 2012, and according to The Kentucky Enquirer, a major reason for the raise is to comply with U.S. Enviro ...

My Best FriendDec 27, 2010
I just need to unload some of this now.  My best friend, Jane (whom I have literally know since kindergarten) had a serious bout of depression about two months ago.  She called me one evening telling me she had a meltdown at work.  She told me at that time she was suicidal.  I asked if she had a plan.  She said she did.  That terrified me, and I talked to her that night on the phone urging her to get help.  She did just that.  She is now seeing a therapist ...

I Can't Seem To Let My Friend Help MeDec 10, 2010
I have a wonderful friend who happens to have a husband worth millions.  I live quite far below poverty level.  I'm a single mom and I do make ends meet, bills are paid, child is happy, we truly do have everything we need.  My car is paid for and I easily manage my tiny mortgage.  Here's the thing -- a couple of months ago part of my tooth broke away from the filling and I really need dental care (of course, I have no insurance).  My dear friend insists on ...

Friend Needs HelpApr 04, 2011
I have a friend who is dire need of some kinds of help, and I don't know what to suggest for him. He's a guy in his late 50's, and a few weeks ago he had a terrible bike accident.  It was nighttime, he was in the city, and he hit some kind of a curb or a barrier, and went flying.  He was pretty sure he dislocated his hip, and sprained both wrists.  The problem is that he's currently unemployed, and has no health insurance.  Apparently he was alone when i ...

Friend With OCDMay 24, 2013
Hi all, One of hubby's co-workers has OCD, by her own admission. Hubby and I have come to enjoy her and her husban'd company socially, as they're quite fun, but she drives us all nuts. Her mouth doesn't stop talking, and it's not just normal talking. Everything that happens is a spiral downhill of some sort of tragedy. Her dog was constipated, so he has a tumor in his bowel; her husband had dark circles under his eyes, so he ate too much bacon (?!!). A lot of it (like t ...
