Has anyone ever undergone a breast reduction? (sm)

I have always, ALWAYS had large breasts. At the age of 12 my nickname was Dolly Parton (humiliating). I constantly battle with breast masses (all benign so far thankfully), back and neck pain. Recently I went to Belks and was fitted for a bra and even I was shocked at my "correct" bra size ..... 42 DDD!!!!!!! I have indentions in the top of my shoulders from where my bra has buried into my skin and I am SICK OF IT!!!

I am looking for anyone who has undergone breast reduction, looking for pros, cons and basically to answer the question .. if you had to do it all over again, would you do it? My primary care physician told me that he believes that if I have the surgery that I will drop between 30-50 pounds which is mindblowing. I am only 4'11 and currently weigh 203 lbs so this would be wonderful!

I, too, would love to have this done, and weight loss would be an added perk!

I hate the indents on my shoulders, and I hate buying shirts only to have my teen+ daughters say "Wow, your boobs look huge in that"

I too have ALWAYS had large breasts, and I hate them with a passion. I have recently begun doing some research on the Internet for stories, etc., regarding breast reduction, and I am seriously thinking of talking to my PCP about this. I also have indentations at the tops of my shoulders from bra straps digging in.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing other responses of women who have actually had this procedure done as I am definitely interested in it myself!

I certainly can't think of any drawbacks to the surgery as I would give anything to reduce them and perhaps in the process lift them back up a bit to where they belong! Oh, and the weight loss associated with it wouldn't hurt either! :)

My mom's friend had hers done probably 20 years ago. She was very large like you, and my mom loves telling the story that her friend came up to the house (we live out in the boonies), walked up the driveway, lifted her shirt and said, "Take a look at these!!" She wasn't even wearing a bra! My mom said her scars were minimal and that they were "beautiful" ;-)

Obviously this is a third hand story, but for my mom's friend, it was life saving. She too was having back pain and every other thing, and after that she was 'like a new woman.'

I've considered it, my last fitting at Nordstroms I was a 36G. I'm 5'3 and around 140 pounds.

This has took me a while to come to terms with it, but I was diagnosed December 3 with Paget's of the right breast. This was misdiagnosed a year ago as eczema. I have to wait and have my 2nd MRI (as I freaked out with the 1st one) on the 31st of this month with a sedative this time, and an ultrasound to find out how far it has progressed. I have a family history of breast cancer (aunt with bilateral at a very early age) and have been battling with breast lumps for the past 15 years but very frequently over the last five years or so. A few months ago, I posted a request for prayer. One of the issues was a suspicious breast lump, which was recommended to be reimaged. After 3 appointments that had to be rescheduled because of snowstorms here in the Northeast, I had followup images, including ultrasound, and ultimately a core needle biopsy last Thursday. I just had a mammogram in March of this year, everything fine. I noticed a slightly bigger than pencil eraser size reddish lesion on 1 margin of my breast day before yesterday. I have had other skin lesions and made visits to the dermatologist as recent as about 2 months ago, had seborrheic dermatitis on my face, also notice sometimes I have like a red, itching place on the upper groin. my doctor is almost certain it is not a benign lump. I am having a mammogram later today. My cousin died from breast cancer after an 8 year battle earlier this year. I asked if others had faced similar and thanks for the messages. As soon as I found the spot I started calling for as soon as I could get in to see about a mammogram.I can self refer on most appointments but found out if you find something, not a normal mammogram and you have to get doctor referral.
