Hello all,
I have people coming over to my house tomorrow (Sat) at 5 p.m. I am planning to serve ham, sliced up for sandwiches. It is currently defrosted in my fridge as of today. It is a 10-12 pound half ham, not precooked or spiral sliced (I think.)
Here are my questions:
Can I cook it in my Nesco roaster instead of the oven? (Never used a Nesco before, have a 6-qt one still in the box!)
If yes, how long do I cook it for and what goes in with the ham besides water? (I tried looking online for ham recipes and the Nesco website and found nothing).
My ham is a John Morrell brand, 10-12 pounds I'm guessing and not precooked, or spiral sliced. If I remember correctly, it has a bone in it. I cooked the same ham last year in the oven for a regular meal and remember that it took about 3-4 hours with glazing time. (Had my mom on standby for help LOL). Anyway, I really don't want to run my oven all day tomorrow as I am working and have lots of other things to make, prep, clean, etc. before company comes at 5:00. According to the ham packaging, it says to bake at 300 for 15 min/pound. I would rather use my Nesco roaster to cook it, let it rest, then slice it up, and put it back in the Nesco or crock pot to stay warm for sandwiches. Has anyone ever cooked a ham in a Nesco?
Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!!!
TIA
