Like when Bush won the electoral but lost the popular vote to Gore, I thought that might be how this turns out, too. If it does, then I think the Romney supporters will just have to learn to live with it the way the Gore supporters did 12 years ago.

I saw the numbers you posted above, too; but the last numbers I saw, Obama was quite a few ahead of Romney in the popular vote, too. And let's not forget all the voters in western states or who were still waiting in huge lines elsewhere and heard that the election was called for Obama who might have left without voting and (wrongly, IMO) decided not to bother.....and these could be voters for either candidate.

I just don't think it's a given, as of yet, that Romney won the popular vote.

For the record I believe the popular vote should determine the winner.

I've looked it up before, and when I'm less tired, I'll look up again why we have this electoral college.

will be a little more agreeable to looking into alternatives to the electoral college after this - even though quite a few of us have been behind this since 2000 (I wouldn't have wanted Algore as president, but majority is supposed to rule).

I have to say its a very very sad day for America. People have a right to mourn, as justice has died. And I thought voter fraud was bad when Algore was running and I kept seeing the democrats committing fraud then. Well that comes no where close to what happened this election. Sad day for America too when the citizens don't care if there was cheating and voter suppression, and people voting more than once. As long as their guy got in there at all costs. Maybe one day the country can heal, but at what expense in the meantime.

was the republican plan (look at FLorida and Ohio) Scott and Husted (?) tried their hardest to suppress the vote but they failed in the end. I am so relieved that when SC judges retire in the next 4 years, I can rest assured Roe will not be threatened to be overturned. Just this one issue was a reason to vote for Obama and many women, in fact, did just that.

The "popular vote" i.e. THE PEOPLE of the USA voted for Romney. The electorals voted for O. Why even bother to let THE PEOPLE vote then??? Let the mobs/big business/bankers vote for their puppet... I really don't think we are certain yet about the final vote numbers. I just googled "popular vote numbers 2012," and here's just one hit on that subject: As of this writing, Obama had a 58,720,700 (50.1%) to 56,145,950 (48.4%) lead on Mitt Romney for the popular vote.

So, be careful....it just might turn out that Obama DID win the popular vote, and then, by your reasoning, you might have to admit that the RIGHT CANDIDATE is president!
