Palin: War with Iran would help Obamaâs re-election

Posted: Feb 8, 2010

(Yes, I was thinking we need at least another war since we've only started two in the last seven years -- NOT! Yell)

By David Edwards
Sunday, February 7th, 2010 -- 11:45 am

President Barack Obama won't be re-elected in 2012 unless he can "toughen up" on national security, according to Sarah Palin. The former Governor of Alaska believes that declaring war on Iran could help the president get re-elected.

"Say he decided to declare war on Iran or decided really to come out and do whatever he could to support Israel, which I would like him to do," Palin told Fox News' Chris Wallace Sunday. "That changes the dynamics in what we can assume is going to happen between now and three years."

Palin clarified that she doesn't think that Obama would cynically "play the war card" to help his 2012 bid. "I'm saying if he did, things would dramatically change if he decided to toughen up and do all that he can to secure our nation and our allies," she said.

Palin said she doesn't think Obama would be re-elected if he ran today.

Obama could find himself going up against the former governor when he runs for re-election. Palin told Chris Wallace that she wasn't ruling out the possibility of running for office. "I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future," she said.

If SP continues to lower the bar any further on alleged legitimate political discourse, we're gonna have to start digging a trench to put it in. What she said would be beyond insulting if it weren't so patently ignorant.

I have read this elsehwere. It's not just SP saying it - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know what she said about this. Certainly not going to read rawstory if I want to know the truth, and just have not had time to research this much, however, I heard this a long time ago (before SP ever said it). The one sure way for someone to be re-elected is if they start a war. This is nothing new that SP is saying. My mom told me this about 10 or so years ago.

You're right -- after all, SP doesn't have an . . . . - Really?

[ In Reply To ..]
original thought in that head of hers. The remark is outrageous because of the fact that we are already paying dearly for 2 wars, and she has the gall to suggest declaring war on Iran (who, BTW is well on their way to having sophisticated nuclear technology)? I don't know of any lucid-minded person on either side that would be okay with that. And then being so pro-Israel? She just wants to make sure we get even closer to making her belief in the "rapture" come to fruition. Scary stuff . . . .

Scary stuff? Our radical president OBAMA - is the SCARY STUFF.

[ In Reply To ..]
He apparently does not have a single "original thought in that head" of his. Look at the shape we are in and tell me I am wrong. Clueless Obama is probably going to go down as the worst president in history, even worse than Carter.

The remark was not outrageous - Not naive here

[ In Reply To ..]
Where have you been. This comment has been made before and many many years ago. Was it okay that others make the remark but because SP made it you think it's outrageous.

I'll tell you one thing. They are so desperate to remain in office starting another war IS an option for them. Don't be so surprised if it happens.
Like Iran? - NJ

It wasn't that many years ago that Bush pulled it off. His ratings went up because of the war. The country rallied around him because, well, the republicans already liked him and the democrats thought it important to support a war-time president even when he was doing so many things with which we fundamentally disagreed.

It's not like that for a democratic president, however. Obama inherited two wars and the NO party undercuts him at every turn. So, what Palin said was ridiculous. Republicans are not patriotic enough to go that way.

And don't blame me for bashing Bush. He is just the most current example of what you claim in your post. Did you think we forgot already?

Again, blaming pubs. Sheesh,NJ, it's getting old.
I also read that Bush did not want to go to war - but it was not up to him

The democrats are the ones who pushed Bush to go to war and voted in favor of it. Bush had no control. He just did what he was told to do.

How about a link to prove my point?

History is not Palin's strong suit. Bush's administration is close enough for her to remember the results. Shame on you for not remembering the popularity spikes, BT, and for trying to misdirect with the 9/11 spike, and for trying to deflect with a bogus claim of the poor, poor, republicans being picked on.

Hey, the timeline shows the facts. Here's the part where you stop replying because...that's what happens on this board when the debate gets down to facts. NJ

Wow, NJ. You sure nailed that one. She DID - stop replying.

By Stephen C. WebsterSunday, January 10th, 2010 -- 11:04 pm It's a perfect storm for former lawmaker Sarah Palin. A book due out this week by political journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin has all the right politicos sweating and backpedaling, from John McCain to the Senate majority leader, and even Bill and Hillary Clinton. But in "Game Change", it's Palin who really takes it on the nose. According to an advance copy thoroughly dog-ear'd by The New York Times, some Mc ...

Just imagine if a Muslim school taught this in the United States. Instead, an accredited law school here in the United States is actively instructing its students to place religious law above the laws of the United States.
