The Gay Obama thread is gone but the Limbaugh Prezdant Powah

Posted: May 27, 2013

With all due respect, Moderator, I don't see the consistency here. especially since the Gay Obama thread actually evolved into a political discussion and was pretty civil.

As always, I appeciate this forum and respect your discretion, but I think our skin was pretty thick and resiliant on the Gay Obama thread.

I know you can't be here 24/7, but it's a shame a post that remained as long as the Gay Obama post did, with the offending post probably being the subject thread, that those of us who contributed with thought and civility wasted our time.  It should have been deleted immediately or allowed to remain after responses were posted that followed forum guidelines... just my opinion of course.

And the Rush prezdant powah post was way less political that the Gay Obama post.

Anyhow!!! Again, your patience is appreciated and hope you have a restful Memorial Day. :-)

I'm not the moderator, but (sm) - I have something to say

the Prezdent powa post as you call it only got crazy because some people chose to make it something it wasn't. As usual.

This fits here - get it ? making it something it's not? Never fails.

P.S. The last line of my post was not intended for you. - It was for the OP.

yeah... - sm

because a bunch of people took issue with the question asked of the OP. If there was a point to be made about accountability, no one made it, and the OP had no comment.

Thank you and that is why I took issue that it was - removed NM

My reasoning - Moderator - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I felt the gay Obama thread had nothing to do with politics (even though he is the president). Whether or not our president is gay in my opinion went over the top and most of the replies favored in that direction.

The post you are referring to talked about whether or not Obama should be held accountable. Discussing whether a person in politics should be held accountable is far more political than whether or not someone is gay. Posters took that post and ran with it in a direction it didn't need to go, but I didn't remove any of their posts because then I'd get the backlash that I'm suppressing their opinion.

One day I'm told I moderate too much, the next day I don't moderator enough, the next day too much. I felt a whole thread dedicated to whether or not a politician is gay was just opening up a whole line of insults and that's what I saw.

Changed my mind on the "prezadent" post - Moderator

[ In Reply To ..]
and invited the OP to re-post without the controversial statements.

I'm surprised you would want a post about Obama being gay - to remain up

[ In Reply To ..]
It's just baffling and inconsistent what liberals want, except to oppress the viewpoints of conservatives.

other poster here... - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't understand how leaving a post up about Obama being gay oppresses the viewpoints of conservatives.

The moderator was talking about the other post - about Obama being held responsible

[ In Reply To ..]
Because she said in her post "but I didn't remove any of their posts because then I'd get the backlash that I'm suppressing their opinion." in that paragraph talking about that post.

Did we read the same thread? - Don't understand

[ In Reply To ..]
I read the gay Obama thread. The responses were mostly "who cares", I read someone wrote they don't want to date him (I smiled at that one), and then there were pics of Bush holding hands and kissing some guy. I'm unsure how you got a political discussion out of that. It was all insults and people talking about how they didn't care that he's gay, or the photo's were photoshopped or that gay people won't be caught dead in "mom jeans". (okay had a belly laugh at that and I still don't know what mom jeans are. LOL, but I read no political discussion in that.

On the same hand, there is a thread that is talking about Obama scandals and will he ever be held responsible for his actions. The post was political so am not understanding how you think that a post talking about Obama being held responsible for the wrong things he's done is less political than one asking if people think he's gay.

The "gay remark is just more fiction from the rw. - nm

By David Edwards and Daniel TencerMonday, January 18th, 2010 -- 10:54 am Ann Coulter is jealous of the attention Rush Limbaugh has been getting since making his comment about the Obama administration wanting to exploit the Haitian tragedy to "burnish" his credentials with the black community. I can't believe Rush can't find anything better to complain about than an awareness campaign regarding over 200 kidnapped girls. It was a South African activist who started this campaign (although the misinformed are claiming Michelle Obama started it) and these days, Twitter campaigns have played a leading role in spreading information in a world where people seem to have technology-induced ADD. Not to mention the fact that the President caught flack for sending assistance to Nigeria ...

Rush Limbaugh is confused. He just can't understand why the Republican Party has so much trouble with blacks, Hispanics and women. They serve in office. Many of them ar ...

Yet Another Thread About Reading :-)Mar 18, 2012
Obviously a lot of us love to read!   My question for everyone is do you keep a list of the books you have read?   I started doing this about 2 years ago because one of my kids came home from school saying that in class that day the teacher was talking about reading and said that she had heard a statistic that the average person reads 300 books in their lifetime.  Knowing me, my son heartily disagreed with that statement and said I probably read 300 books each year.   T ...

NAFTA (from Fox News Thread)Sep 27, 2011
The thread about Fox News talking about jobs overseas has turned political.  One person somewhat erroneously credited Clinton with being responsible for NAFTA.  While he signed it into law, NAFTA has its origins in Ronald Reagan's Trade and Tariff Act, which allows the President to negotiate trade, with Congress unable to do anything.  The TTA allowed Bush (Sr) negotiate with Mexico and Canada to alleviate tariff burdens.  NAFTA was underway well before Clinton sign ...

Starting New Thread On Health Care DebateJan 05, 2012
Previous thread getting too indented and confusing.  The thread began with the question "If you are against Obama health care law, who should pay for the uninsured?"  It boils down to either the individual is required to pay or the taxpayer will pay.  We have lots of personal anecdotes and generalized "should" statements, grievances against the government and vague "individual basis" which means, I guess, do nothing.  I came away with the opinion that conservatives are saying ...
