I can't believe Rush can't find anything better to complain about than an awareness campaign regarding over 200 kidnapped girls. It was a South African activist who started this campaign (although the misinformed are claiming Michelle Obama started it) and these days, Twitter campaigns have played a leading role in spreading information in a world where people seem to have technology-induced ADD. Not to mention the fact that the President caught flack for sending assistance to Nigeria (because some believe there is no hope for the girls or that we should take care of our own first), and also caught flack for not sending troops.
Rush thinks a hashtag is pathetic? Complaining about an awareness hashtag is pathetic. Which is the greater waste of time???
On his radio show over the past week, Limbaugh has railed against the Twitter campaign. In particular, he singled out first lady Michelle Obama, who took a photo holding a sign with the #BringBackOurGirls hashtag. The radio host called the first lady’s gesture “pathetic.”
The campaign has used the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls to offer sympathy to the children’s families and to push for greater efforts to recover the girls. Many U.S. and international political figures have embraced the campaign.
Stewart said that people should choose between Limbaugh and Malala Yousafzai, the 16-year-old Pakistani activist who survived an attack from the Taliban and who has also supported the Twitter campaign.
