Taken from a segment on Countdown on Wednesday. Laurence O'Donnell speaking about MSNBC and Keith Olbermann's involvment in the free health clinics that are being set up all over the country. The comparison between Keith Olbermann's personal contribution and Rush Limbaugh's over so generous contribution of a product he didn't even pay for should say it all. I guess the $400 million dollar man can't afford to give something personally . . . .
O'DONNELL:
"It was on this program where many of you learned of the good and important work done by the National Association of Free Clinics. Through the generosity of people like you providing free health care to the uninsured, giving hope to thousands who haven‘t seen a doctor in years. But progressives have no monopoly on generosity, such charitable impulses as those that drove our own Keith Olbermann to put his money and passion into the free clinic program occur all across the political spectrum in this country.
Hear now the compassionate conservatism of Mr. Rush Limbaugh when confronted today on his radio circus with the harsh realities of the nearly 16 million unemployed in this country. While speaking to an out-of-work listener, he was moved to do something. Not a jobs fair, no large scale approach. Rush offered, not a job, but something he thought the 49-year-old man would like even better. Of course, the unemployed man had to pass a political test first."
RUSH LIMBAUGH, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: You didn‘t vote for Obama, did you?
UNIDENTIFIED CALLER: No. No, I didn‘t, sir.
LIMBAUGH: All right.
UNIDENTIFIED CALLER: And I couldn‘t imagine voting for him. It just kind of—you know, more of a gut feeling than anything.
LIMBAUGH: You know what I want? I want to give you something. I want to give you something. I can hear the stress. I can hear the nervousness. I‘m going to give you a much of HoMedics massagers. I am going to send—they are one of our best sponsors here. They‘re Snerdley‘s favorite sponsor, and they are fabulous, and the price is not that expensive at all. They start at $29.99. Hold on to Snerdley to get your address. At least while you‘re looking for a job, you can get a massage at the same time on us.
Wow, that kind of compassion is so heart warming . . . . brings a tear to the eye
;reads as follows below, yet you somehow come to the conclusion that she listens to Limbaugh. Please explain how that could possibly happen unless you simply didn't read it. And before you arbitrarily dismiss MSNBC as not being a reputable source, I saw the show that night, and this transcript matches what I saw/heard. Here is the video of that segment that contains Rush's "generous offer" to his unemployed caller. I don't expect you to listen to it all, but the audio of Rush begins at around 6 minutes. I also was aware that Olbermann was heavily involved in donating tens of thousands of dollars for setting up free health clinics, particularly in the states where the politicians are likely to vote no on healthcare reform ($10,000 per clinic, as I recall).
The video can be found at: http://critterscrap.blogspot.com/2009/11/rush-limbaughs-solution-to-joblessness.html
There is a STORY here, a good story. Too bad you didn't read it.
(First paragraph of post that has absolutely ZERO reference of the poster being a Rush listener:)
