Second nurse diagnosed with Ebola was on jet night before diagnosis.

Posted: Oct 15, 2014

It was stated earlier that anyone who came in contact with Mr. Duncan was being monitored. How is being able to fly commercially considered monitoring?

Also, an infectious disease expert from Purdue says Ebola has the potential to become airborne, but it has not been well studied.

There are too many unknowns out there. Let's ban commercial travel from West Africa. Call or email your elected officials.

;

Don't you mean let's ban flights in and out of Texas - from Ohio?

would prevent stop asymptomatic people exposed to ebola jetting around within the US borders exactly how? How would it prevent determined travelers from using ground transport to get to connections outside the flight ban countries?

If you're a liberal, you're going to completely pooh-pooh this, but Bill O'Reilly put forth a very, very good plan about just this thing. It makes a lot of sense. But, of course, no liberals, including the president, have listened to him. If the president ever does decide to implement Bill O's plan, the rest of the liberals will fall lockstep right behind BO. That's my prediction. If I'm wrong, so be it.
I agree with you, but the problem is, (sm) - lme

His biggest problem (besides not knowing anything about being president) is that he won't listen to his advisors. Of course, I don't blame him if he's not listening to Susan Rice. (She needs to have her mic shut down.)
She really is stupid, isn't she? - LM

If Obama ever implements BillO's plan, Republicans will fall over one another in their rush to decry the move.

Conservatives were so keen to stop all travel from west Africa to the US. How is isolating Texas now any different? Frankly, Texas is a lot more dangerous, because it isn't just flying, but those people can just walk across the state line and put good Americans at risk!

Good Americans? Just who the hell do you think you are? - A good Texan

I'm a good American - Are all Texans
[ In Reply To ..]
Are all Texans so touchy? I never said Texans weren't good Americans. The ones in Austin tend to be quite decent, I've heard.

I agree - Better safe than sorry

in my book. If it's not contagious unless she was having symptoms, who's to say that she wasn't having symptoms on the flight. The flight crew said she "didn't exhibit any symptoms." In hindsight, of course. She may well have infected people. You can't stop "determined people" but banning flights out of West Africa would be erring on the side of caution. Why chance it?

Ebola can't - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Ebola can't become airborne, because that would support evolution, which isn't true according to my bible.

Let's stay on topic, shall we? - nm

Now the propagandist at the CDC said she - "should not have traveled." (sm)

For almost 11 years I have been experiencing random symptoms, stroke-like symptoms at times with paralysis in my face, tingling, numbness, weakness in my left arm, as well as pain in my joints, especially my feet, knees, hands and hips.  On top of this there are days when I ache, hurt and just feel so bad in general that I do not want to climb out of bed.  Two weeks ago I experienced another stroke-like event, ended up seeing a neurologist who ordered MRI (negative for stroke thankfull ...

Questions About Insurance And Crappy Diagnosis, Etc.Jul 30, 2010
Hi, Just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of info (since I have much better luck on message boards than I do trying to go directly to any source). ; ) To the point, I had not been to a doctor in several years.  I recently went to a gynecologist (was actually a NP) and then she referred me on to an IM doc.  They both ignored what I really wanted to focus on (hormones - perimenopausal and a slew of what I discovered to be thyroid symptoms I had been having for 12 years or so).&nbs ...

Diagnosed With Paget's Of BreastJan 03, 2011
This has took me a while to come to terms with it, but I was diagnosed December 3 with Paget's of the right breast. This was misdiagnosed a year ago as eczema. I have to wait and have my 2nd MRI (as I freaked out with the 1st one) on the 31st of this month with a sedative this time, and an ultrasound to find out how far it has progressed. The mammogram is completely clear though and they did not find any lumps. Much prayers are appreciated as I have a 12 and 6 year old and husband at home. ...

Cervical Cancer Diagnosis Up 8% In Young WomenNov 25, 2015
How about that? Younger women who now are covered under health insurance/Obamacare now are being diagnosed with cervical cancer at an earlier, more treatable age. I am not surprised. * * * Researchers used the National Cancer Data Base, a hospital-based registry of about 70 percent of all cancer cases in the United States. They compared diagnoses for women ages 21 to 25 who had cervical cancer with those for women ages 26 to 34, before and after the health law provision (OBAMACARE) began ...

Nurse Refusing To Perform CPRMar 04, 2013
There is such a ruckus about the nurse at a senior home refusing to help an elderly person there who has collapsed, called 911 and not doing CPR as the woman at 911 pleading her to do so. Others are up in arms about this but the family of the elderly woman apparently not so. What others do not know is what were the elderly woman's wishes, did she and/or the family have something in effect that said no resuscitation, no heroic efforts or the like. Apparently this senior home in California ha ...

So, The Retirement Home Nurse, Obeying Company Policy, RefusesMar 04, 2013
This occurred at a retirement home, not a SNF. The nurse, who did identify herself as one on the 911 line, called 911--following retirement home rules for its employees--when a resident Lorraine Bayless collapsed, but she refused the 911 operator's repeated instruction, and then begging, to initiate CPR, saying it was against the rules, that they were instructed to call paramedics and otherwise stay out of it. The operator then begged her to grab someone who didn't actually work there ...
