I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration yesterday. I know what this entails. My father was diagnosed in his 80s although might have had it prior to that time. He had the wet type. I think it usually starts with the dry and then can go into the wet. He wound up being legally blind in 1 eye and possibly had some issues with the other one. I am going to do everything possible to strive towards paying off any big outstanding bills over this upcoming year. I have 2 charge accts and want to get those paid off. I am receiving social security now and another retirement check so if I pay those off, should be ok as far as finances. I am getting on some good eye vitamins the ophthalmologist recommended, plus vitamin C and E along with eating more of the green leafy vegetables, always wear sun glasses and don’t smoke at all. Found an extremely good antioxidant I have ordered on the internet (hubby is into supplements so he already knew of it). My question to people here is do you know anyone who has this, how long have they had it, have they been able to keep their eyesight or what is their story? I know of no one else in my family besides my father who had this and he died about 4 year ago. Thanks.
