Remember, there are always two sides to the story. You need to cross reference your sources and see if all the facts are given. No doubt info is missing on their "news reporting." Always, always cross reference with sources who aren't totally proDem, since those particular sources work overtime to mislead listeners.
Remember: the mainstream media basically elected Obama, and would not even allow one bit of scrutiny....and now we're paying the price. Heads up and double check.

CNN talked about this tonight. It's not even close to what was represented here, LOL! - Anon

Getting a second opinion is a good idea, ya know. I watch Fox News as well as CNN and even MSNBC (holding my nose while I do so, of course). I guess you just read the DNC talking points, tho.

7 links all say same thing. Please explain why dead multimillionaires - are being shown preference over

3 million very much alive unemployed workers and their families? Bunning and Kyl both are hung up on this issue, not to mentin the fact that all republicans are responsible for this delay, since not a single one of them would give the unemployed a second thought. Unemployed folks vote and, trust me on this, they will have a very long memory when it comes to this obscenity.
This could have been taken care of by Reid in the 85 billion jobs bill he scuttled! - Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Why aren't you pissed at him? He dropped the bigger bill in favor of a smaller bill last week which had no provision for extending unemployment benefits.

Is he heartless too? Or does that term only apply to Republicans?

You really should do your homework, dear!
Step by step - NJ
[ In Reply To ..]
Reid chose to past the bill incrementally, like the republicans are asking him to do on health care reform. So, there are republicans who didn't dare vote against the smaller job bill. And it passed.

Now is the next increment. But the republicans are showing their colors again.

You can't have it both ways. You can't say the dems have to pare down bills and pass them incrementally and then blame them for doing just that. That is what the republicans are trying to do, but it just goes to show how stupid they think the public is.

Then again, I guess even a republican is right some of the time...

NJ
Actually, NJ, a lot of Democrats are upset with Reid for abandoning the 85 billion dollar bill! - Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
He arbitrarily decided to shelve the Baucus-Grassley bill in favor of the smaller one. And yes, there was 1 Dem who actually voted against it. Why, he has to be evil....oh wait, he's a Dem, so he was just "voting his conscience," LOL!

No matter what, somehow it's always the Republicans' fault to you. How original....
If the larger bill would have passed, why would GOP - refuse to pass part of the same bill.....
[ In Reply To ..]
I guess we just have to learn to expect the full 180s out of them for no good reason whatsoever.

I was concerned when Reid split the bill, but he is not the one who pulled his support of the measure out from under himself. Why would I be pissed at him?

Instead of lecturing me on doing my homework, suppose you address the issue at hand, which is GOP obstructionism at the expense of workers hit hardest by the recession? You never did answer my question about the dead multimillionaires. How can you justify that action?
Reid suddenly dumped the bipartisan bigger bill for the smaller one, but you don't blame him? - Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
Talk about blind devotion! And even some Dems are pissed at him.

Yet the Pubbies are obstructionists??!!?? Are you even aware that 1 Dem voted Nay? Is he an obstructionist?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

I answered your hyperbolic question about "dead millionaires" (as you so eloquently put it) in another post, so there goes that accusation.
The diverse party - NJ
[ In Reply To ..]
One of the "problems" with the democratic party is its diversity, which is also one of its beauties. We don't all walk in lockstep. One dem voted against it...so?

Back to the question: why do you think it would have passed before as part of a larger bill when Benning is filibustering it now? The answer is that we would have had no jobs bill at all right now if it hadn't been split into incremental parts. Now, the citizens can see who does what, and Benning is not gathering the support of his party leaders by playing the NO game.

It is too bad the public had to learn this lesson about republicans the hard way. But it is well past time the republican slugs were pulled out from the dark place they've been hiding and put in the spotlight. Those NOs are getting weaker and weaker.

NJ
Obviously the GOP is also diverse....several of them voted for the jobs bill. - Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
What the heck is your point, then? Other than Pubbies are evil but Democrats are perfect?

Honestly, your bias is getting very tedious. You obviously think bipartisanship is doing whatever your side wants, NOT coming together and devising solutions to the many problems facing our nation.

As far as the answer to your question, Reid supposedly had the votes for this bipartisan bill which would have extended unemployment benefits and been paid for to boot. He scuttled it in favor of a narrower bill without any unemployment benefits, which is why they needed this additional legislation that Bunning is being blamed for stopping because it isn't paid for.

Many Dems are upset with Reid for doing what he did. But progressives like you will never blame this administration for anything and instead attempt to obfuscate the issue and make Bunning out to be evil. That's disingenuous and you know it, but you obviously don't care - because he has an R after his name.

And that's just sad.

Punishing The JoblessJul 11, 2010
Op-Ed Columnist Punishing the Jobless By PAUL KRUGMAN There was a time when everyone took it for granted that unemployment insurance, which normally terminates after 26 weeks, would be extended in times of persistent joblessness. It was, most people agreed, the decent thing to do.But that was then. Today, American workers face the worst job market since the Great Depression, with five job seekers for every job opening, with the average spell of unemployment now at 35 weeks. Yet the Senate we ...

I don't know where this is going to end, but it looks like the big guys have given our jobs away. What happened to that trickle-down success politicians were promising us a few years ago? Jobless Rate Looks Nice--until You Look Under The HoodOct 07, 2012
I hope this wasn’t posted before. If it was, sorry. I don’t like to duplicate other posts. Democrats seized on the Labor Department’s report Friday that the unemployment rate in September fell to 7.8 percent, dropping below 8 percent for the first time in 44 months. So surprising was the decline that it set off speculation among some conservatives about a cooked-booked October surprise. That’s not remotely likely as playing with the numbers to influence the election wou ...
