Dem Senator: 'We All Knew' Obama Was Lying

On Sunday, appearing on ABC’s This Week with fill-in host Martha Raddatz, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) admitted that Democrats knew full well that Americans would be booted from their health insurance plans as an effect of Obamacare implementation.

When asked whether Democrats were misled by President Obama about whether Americans would be able to keep their plans in the individual insurance market, Gillibrand answered: “He should’ve just been specific. No, we all knew.”

She added that the whole point of Obamacare was to “covering things people need, like preventive care, birth control, pregnancy.” The redistributive nature of Obamacare, Gillibrand stated, was the point of the program; anyone claiming ignorance, therefore, is not telling the truth.

Not that Obama was lying. In fact, there is no reason why the insurers had to cancel the policies. They could have worked within the new system to offer policies which complied with the new regulations, joined the exchanges, informed their insureds that the policy was changed and the premiums were higher but that they would be eligible for subsidies.

Instead, they just tried to scare them. So Senator Gillibrand is basically saying that everyone knew the insurers were going to wage all out war on Obamacare despite the fact they helped write it and they would stand to profit from it. Just not enough, I guess. The faster these particular rats (insurance companies only in it for the huge profits that enable their executives to make billions a year) leave the ship the better, IMHO.

"He should have just been more specific, because the point is if you're offered by a terrible health care plan that the minute you get sick, you're going to have to go into bankruptcy, those plans should never be offered," Gillibrand said.

Thank you for the concise, intelligent post. I find all the whining assertions about Obama "lying" to be so disingenuous and ill-informed.

Republicans have pulled off quite the scam by convincing their constituents that all of a sudden their right-wing legislators don't know how private industry operates!

I hope right-wing partisans think twice before invoking the notion of sheeple.
