Way to go, Senator Coburn~ It has been

Posted: Apr 6, 2010

senator has done anything to be happy about, but I am happy to see this man stand up and act like an adult.  Way to go, sir!  It is a lot easier to take a politician seriously when they don't act like children.  As a liberal, I am really, really glad to see this.

You just had to add the pub slam, though, didnt ya? - TX

I dont care if Pelosi is a "nice lady" or not. She, like Obama, is not listening to the people. That is what really frustrates the majority, whether she is a sweet smiling lady or not.

But there is no excuse for the personal attacks. nm - oldtimer

[ In Reply To ..]
,

What personal attacks? - please

[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Depicting Pelosi as Cruella in the RNC Fundraising Plan - comes to mind, for starters...
[ In Reply To ..]
Your question is a joke, right? Do you know the meaning of personal attack? Have you not noticed the cons and pubs have based their entire campaign platform and strategies on personal attacks since the moment Obama took office, in the absence of viable public policy initiatives and in view of their own leadership deficits? Puh-leeze. How clueless is that?
Dont be hypocritical, though. Liberals constantly - attack unfairly. Look what they do
[ In Reply To ..]
to the TEA party people. They can be be vicious, so we should not even start this subject!!
Try to stay on task. The thread is about Coburns remarks on - GOP tactics of name calling...
[ In Reply To ..]
personal attacks and their devout worship of Fox news as their only reliable source...one that Coburn (a pub) is honest enough to admit is biased with its own agenda, an agenda he does not believe has the nation's "best interests" in mind. He encourages pubs to seek out a more BALANCED picture.

Instead of personal attacks on the poster (i.e., the hypocrite)...the very thing Coburn was trying to discourage, trying to change the subject and deflecting focus onto libs and the tpots (neither of whom were referred to in Coburn's remarks), why not simply read the article, control the knee jerk, give it some thought, count to ten and respond rationally...or is that too much to ask?

PS: I wish there were a WHOLE LOT MORE pubs like Coburn. I can say that, even though I totaly and vehemently disagree with his up and coming input into the immigration reform debate...and having done so was not (I repeat, NOT) fatal.
Hello! You are doing the same thing. Gosh, look - in the mirror. You compliment and bash
[ In Reply To ..]
all at the same time. --laughable really.
I do not see any bash in her post. It is pretty straightforward. - What are you talking about?

I read it several times. I do not see any bash. - How about a clue?
[ In Reply To ..]

There is nothing vicious about telling the truth. - Could you please
[ In Reply To ..]
give an example of what you are talking about? Show us "constant" unfair attacks coming out of libs, that is if you can find them after sifting through all the post where they are trying to discuss issues of national concern, present facts and encourage INFORMED debate.

And youre not listening to what Coburn said either. Try again. - Its a really good message. nm

[ In Reply To ..]

The comment was about politicians in general, not a pub slam. - Touchy, touchy. nm

[ In Reply To ..]
nm

Yeah, but I see what they meant. Another snide - comment -wasnt necessary, but

[ In Reply To ..]
the poster just had to add that.
Excuse me. I am trying to get on the same page with you. - What snide comment? Where?
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
No, I was the poster and you are WRONG! - Again!
[ In Reply To ..]
I was actually trying to give a positive nod to the man, in spite of the fact that he is largely responsible for cutting off thousands of peoples unemployment starting yesterday. In spite of the fact that I don't generally agree with him politically, I thought it was a brave and "Christian" thing to come out and speak out about Fox news and all of the craziness out there right now. Do not pretend to know why I posted that, or acuse me of having ulterior motives. While looking through these posts I see many jumping up and down and making with the insults and accusations. Apparently, you did not get his message.
Some of you really need to grow up.
Just so you know, both posts were clear as a bell. - Everything you said is right on. nm
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
I will respectully disagree with you! nm - Fargo
[ In Reply To ..]
nm
Thanks. I thought it was but lately I feel like - we would be wise not
[ In Reply To ..]
to say anything at all because it takes absolutely nothing to get a big-time kneejerk insult. No one is interested in talking, just dividing the country more and saying really nasty, hateful things to each other (and before anyone jumps on me for it, I was referring to both sides of the aisle, so chill out)

Now I just wish some democrats would act like adults - They are still like children

[ In Reply To ..]
That's why you can't take any of them seriously.

As someone who does not identify with any party, I am ashamed of them all.

Would you mind giving a for instance? - All I see them do is

[ In Reply To ..]
suit up, show up and try to do their jobs, like growns-up do. They dig their feet in, are relentlessly persistent and don't give up. They passed health care reform, for God's sake, something that has eluded the political establishment for nearly 100 years.

They are not the ones throwing fits every five minutes, stomping their feet and trying to obstruct everything in sight when they don't get their way. But hey, I try to keep an open mind, so go ahead. Show us how the dems are childish.

HAHAHAHA! That was a joke, right? Good one.nm - funny

[ In Reply To ..]
nm
So I take it you have no answers to my - simple and humble request...
[ In Reply To ..]
I am asking you to give examples of dems acting childish...and try your best to give instances that are in the same league as GOP name-calling, telling fibs, obstructing and throwing tantrums and fits every time they don't get their way. Go ahead. Give it a shot.
Alan Grayson for starters, one of the biggest - misfits of the Dems
[ In Reply To ..]
:)
Alan Grayson is so well informed he makes your head spin. - He fits right in cuz he is smart, smart, smart.
[ In Reply To ..]
He's like Maddow. You guys just don't like him because you can't argue with his impeccable logic.
Not true - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Sorry to say, but both your GUYS (Madcow and Grayson) are idjits. No class and pretty much full of it.

I wouldn't waste my time arguing with pseudo-intellects.
There is nothing funny about the concerns Coburn is voicing - about his own party.
[ In Reply To ..]
You obviously just don't get it.

We'll start with Pelosi and Reid first - Then go on down the line from there

[ In Reply To ..]
There are plenty to work from

Um....hello.....yes they are throwing fits, stomping their feet, and tried to obstruct everything the republicans were trying to do. They are the ones who had closed door meetings, would not allow republicans to work with them, and pulled the "We won, you lost, nanny nanny boo boo" attitude.

So, until you can stand back and objectively look at issues you will never see it.
How would you explain those 161 pub amendments in HCR, - elimination of public option?
[ In Reply To ..]
When are you guys gonna quite whining over lies you continue to invent that are so obviously unfounded? The tude your refer to is only inside your own head (talk about childish)...never, never happened. Prove me wrong by citing specifics, if you can come up with any.
I'm not talking about them - I'm talking about Pelosi and Reid - Then go on down the line from there
[ In Reply To ..]
I am not talking about anyone else. I'm talking about Pelosi and Reid to begin with. Then go on down the list. There may be some republicans mixed in, but go down the list because there are plenty of democrats acting like children. That is what this topic is about.

Oh, enough already! What you just said was - not exactly a great

Pelosis is a nice lady? Maybe not in a political sense - Backwards Typist

[ In Reply To ..]
but a shark when she's being political. She's out "for the kill." She doesn't care who she hurts to get her way. She cares only about her agenda and throws anyone who disagrees with her under the bus.

As for Sen. Coburn reading the news, I read more than he does. He reads 3 newspapers/magazines? I read at least 10 online (USA newspapers), try to keep up with foreign news, and read 4 hard copies in my spare time. If you don't read everything, you don't get a perspective of all. You still get one-sided most of the time.

Blogs don't count with me either. I read, but I usually ignore. So, does that make me better than him because I read more than him? Does that make me like Pelosi because she's "a nice lady"? Nope.

He has his opinion, I have mine, on Pelosi. So, it's one opinion and I bet it will not get him any brownie points for it.

Yep, Pelosi would probably sell her mother for a - vote.. cant stand the woman.nm

nm

Hate to sound like a broken record here, but - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
could you please be more specific instead of the (yawn) run-of-the-mill sour grapes over someone who is really, really good at what she does? Her job is to get votes and that is what she does best. In fact, she is batting just about 100 to 0, isn't she? That's what we pay her to do.

Who did she hurt? Who is (buzz gag me buzz) under the bus now?

On the subject of Coburn's alleged paultry vis a vis your avid and extensive reading: If you do ALL THAT, how is it then that he is the one with the broader perspective and you always seem to come up with the same conclusions over and over again? For the record, there are at least 10 conservative online papers and 4 hard copy conservative papers. Quantity does not necessarily translate to quality.

BTW, I seriously doubt he was trying to score Brownie points, dear. More to the point, he was having a moment of (collective party) self-effacement, propelled no doubt by his concern over the degradation of public rhetoric he is seeing coming out of the GOP recently. Maybe it's beginning to hit home since we now have death threats being hurled at senators over how they do or do not vote. After all, sooner or later, there will be unimaginable consequences to be paid if this trend is left unchecked.

If you cant see what a total fake Pelosi is, a lying - politician, we cant help you.nm

Yeah, I'm sure Attilla the Hun was a nice person too. - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I also saw an interview from a lady who was a maid where Hitler was and she said he was a nice man too in private life.

I don't know Pelosi in her personal life. Maybe she is a nice person to her family and friends, but I highly doubt that overall she is a nice person. All I know is political wise she is on the other spectrum of nice. You were right on when you said she is out for the kill and doesn't care who she hurts to get her way. She has proven that time and time again. She has such a heavy foreboding presence about her. It literally makes me ill to look at her or hear her voice. I heard there are people who are on this planet who just don't have a soul and are truly evil to the core, and she is one of them (IMHO). She has never done anything to shown she cares for the people of the country, or the people she is supposed to be working for. She seems to forget that she is a servant of the people, not the other way around. She is out for her own self gratification and she doesn't care who she steps on to get there.

She is just in one of those categories of evil creatures and I will be glad when it is gone.

Coburn Jokes About Shooting Senate Colleagues.Aug 18, 2011
