"Now, any small business or individual health policy that begins on or before Oct. 1, 2016, can remain in effect. That means non-compliant plans could be in use through the end of September in 2017."
Other changes include:
"– The open enrollment period for 2015 extends to Feb. 15 of next year, instead of Jan. 15. Enrollment for next year starts Nov. 15 of this year.
– States that want to run their own insurance marketplace in 2015 will have a later deadline for filing a blueprint for doing so. That new deadline now is June 15 of this year. That deadline will apply for subsequent years; states that want to start running an exchange in 2016 will need to file by June 15, 2015.
– The threshold has been lowered for reinsurance to kick in on high-cost claims.
– Changes in temporary risk corridors to stabilize individual and small-group premiums while insurers sort out costs stemming from the extension of the deadline for non-compliant programs."
