Senator mobbed by protestors

Posted: Mar 2, 2011

OK, this is getting WAY out of control.  And frightening.  This has got to stop.  Since when do we condone this type of behavior?  This is thuggery 101.

I can just imagine sitting around the dinner table, slicing the meatloaf and then the news comes on.  Little Jimmy:  "Look Mommy!  Daddy's on TV!  Ohhh, he looks angry!"

Nice example for the kids.  What a bunch of twits.

Where is the civility now?  Seriously.  No one in their right mind can agree with these animals.

And no, you won't see this on MSNBC tonight.  They will probably have another story about Sarah Palin's shoes.

This is terribly disturbing. Wisconsin state Senator Glenn Grothman was on his way into the Capitol building to do his job (as opposed to the 14 fleebaggers) when he was swarmed by a mob of angry, screaming demonstrators.

At first I thought they were chanting “Che” but it sounds like they were shouting “Shame.” Either way, they surrounded Grothman while screaming at him. At one point you can hear someone yell “This is illegal!” Shortly after that someone took charge and the next thing you know, the crowd starts chanting “Peaceful,” as if they’re a bunch of robots under the control of someone else. It wasn’t until a Democrat from the Assembly came out that the angry mob backed off a bit. But they still didn’t stop shouting. At the very end of the video these thugs started chanting “peaceful protest.” Does anything in this video look peaceful to you? And where are the police?

These people are showing every day who they are. They are uncivilized, greedy, bullying animals. The fact that the President has not come out and called for “civility” should really tell you all you need to know. Don’t tell me he doesn’t see what’s going on. This is his shtick, he’s probably enjoying every moment of it. This is what happens when the community is organized. Chaos. Harassment. Thuggery. This is hope. This is change. Welcome to the age of Obama.

I only live a short drive from Madison. My daughter did miss school due to her school shutting down. Thank goodness most of the teachers are back in school. What you have left down there are the professional protesters, students from the UW, people paid by the unions to sit there and raid a ruckus, the unemployed lefties with nothing to do. They are truly a disgusting bunch and the leftie Madison police won't do a thing about it. You know, Madison isn't called the Berkley of the midwest for nothing.

The Berkley of the Midwest? - ROFLMAO.

The only thing in this post that is true is that you live a short drive from Madison.

Oh no...it won't be the Berkeley of the midwest - until Code Pink comes and

Locked doors, bolted windows, ID checks block public Capitol access - in violation of court order.

These are just a few things not included in this blatently biased account of the incident. This video shows the anger reaction to their INITIAL discovery of Walker's abrupt change in policy (implemented in the middle of the night like the coward he is) leading up to his Tuesday night speech.

MSNBC had Grothman on the night before and during his interview, he called the protesters "a bunch of slobs." So much for civil discourse. Even the police refused to become palace guards and would not carry out the gov's orders (which were in violation of the court's restraining order that clearly stated the building MUST be kept open to protesters and visitors). Guess that would answer the question, "where are the police?" They were hanging around obeying and upholding the law.

Evidently, illegal decrees by King Domino the First/Reagan Reincarnate did not set well with the citizens of Madison, who have every right to enter THEIR OWN capitol building. Cant say I blame them one bit.

umm, no - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Why would you think this would be a blatantly biased account of the event? I don't care what he called them. They have no right to go after an elected official like a pack of mad dogs. I'm horrified that you support something like this.

Here's a question for ya. Take this video and put it on HuffPo without knowing who Grothman is, and I would bet my next 6 house payments that the comments would be full of things like "looks like a white Tea Party rally to me." That would actually be one of the nicer comments.

Don't try to deflect this and make it the fault of the victim. These are professional thugs and should be treated as such. It's a sad day when this behavior has become acceptable on the left. It's pathetic to try and turn it around and blame this on Walker and/or any other elected official. That's such a weak argument, and I wouldn't even let my kids get away with that one. "But mom, he made me run him over with my bike because he wouldn't give me his candy."

The Dems lost in Wisconsin. As Barry said, "The election is over. I won." And let's not forget, "They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in the back."

The T-p's are just hoping for an incident so they don't look so bad - sm

They want to drag everyone down to their level.
The Tea partiers level is way above the level - of these thugs
[ In Reply To ..]
Nobody is "hoping for an incident" and anyone who thinks certain people are is out of touch with reality.

The people who belong to the tea party are human beings. They eat, sleep, and work, and pay taxes just like every one else. Even though I don't belong to one or would want to, they have every right to their opinions and they have every right to be involved in politics and have a say at what the criminals in office are doing. Tea party members are the average person from farmers to politicians.

Not once ever since the tea party events began was there ever any violence from anyone in the tea party. No matter how much people wish there was to say such rubbish in nonsense.

The violence I see is on the other side. The ones who call tea party members filthy dirty names and attend events and start trouble. Call people the "N" word and "Your going to ---- die". They knock people down and beat them, etc, etc. Those are the people who wish for violence to happen so they can blame it on someone else, not the people who belong to the tea party. Those are the people who will never rise to the level of the Tea Party people.
Dont even try going there. - sm

The N-word? Really? Face it. Tpots have bitten off more than they can chew with this assault on unions, workers and the middle class. They are too stupid to cut their losses and run. They just keep digging themselves in deeper and deeper. The more they dig, the more energized their opponents get. They screwed up bigtime.

Face it, the more you smear, the more you lie, and the more you hate, the more us TEA Party/average Americans, moms and dads, see you for what you are, a pretty sick and pathetic bunch.

We are not going anywhere.

Trust me...we who were involved in the Dem shellacking in the midterms have not seen anything so far that makes the spend-crazy Democrats look any better to us...and this crazy ranting about Republicans want to bust every union in the US rings really hollow. The only people who are screwing up are the Dems, yet again, pointing fingers, and being part of the problem instead part of the SOLUTION.

Talk about screwing up bigtime.

But please...continue. Your feet will eventually get all the shooting they can take. ;-)

The senator called Wisconsin constituents slobs. King Domino The First/Reagan Reincarnate issued a decree and had the windows bolted, locked the Capitol doors and started requiring IDs from any and all entering the building. The court issued a restraining order which he promptly ignored. Police didnt play ball and decided to observe and enforce the court order. I cant blame them for being hopping mad.

If you have a problem with both sides of a story and cant face simple facts, its your problem, not mine.

Poor Republicans - mbmt

[ In Reply To ..]
I live in Wisconsin, and I do not feel one bit sorry for the Republican troublemakers in this state. They should be ashamed of themselves for going against the wishes of the people. There are many people that are very sorry that they voted for Walker and other Republicans and would definitely have voted otherwise if they had known what was coming.

"Poor Republicans" is an oxymoron! - nm

Kinda like generous liberals/Democrats? - I see your point.

[ In Reply To ..]
Hate to throw a monkey wrench in your cute little statement but...a good number of the uberrich are Democrats and I don't see them paying any more into the tax coffers than they have to either. There is no limit you know. You can pay all the extra taxes you want to. You think people should pay more...lead by example. Pay more. While you are at it, tell Warren Buffett to stop bemoaning the fact that he pays less taxes than his secretary and offer to pay her taxes FOR her...or better yet, give a couple of extra million toward the deficit. Then I might buy what good ol' Warren is saying. LOL.

You can stop with the class warefare schtick. No one believes it anymore. Especially the majority of people in flyover country who barely have two dimes to rub together, thanks to the tax and spend crazy Democrats. You know, those people who never really got involved in politics until the midterms shellacking. We don't take what you say at face value anymore and you know what....we KNOW that the Democrats are not our friends. We tried to tell them we were upset. They told us we didn't know what we were talking about. Our vote in the midterms told them we don't like being ignored.

Keep on keepin' on. As the post above said, hole is just getting deeper and deeper.

And we have only your word for that? - ohhh ok. :-)

[ In Reply To ..]
If anyone should be ashamed it is the public union members for not doing the right thing in the first place for the WHOLE state and the rest of the hurting people who would have to endure tax increases to support more raises and bennies. All they would have had to do is agree to suspension of collective bargaining. That's it. Not lose a thing they have NOW, just agree not to ask for MORE until the state was back in the black.

Now, looking at that, it looks to me like that makes them, frankly, selfish. They made their bed and they are not liking lying in it.

Do you really think it is a good thing that they want to put the burden on their fellow Wisconsinites whose tax money pays for those salaries and bennies? REALLY?

Ohhh ok - mbmt

[ In Reply To ..]
Walker wanted public workers to pay more for their healthcare & pensions. He also wanted to severely restrict collective bargaining.

Unions agreed to pay more for healthcare & pensions which would have reduced the deficit. They agreed to the exact amount that Walker asked for, but they wanted to keep the collective bargaining. I keep reading on this messageboard that if only the public employees would have agreed to take a cut in bennies, etc., that there would have been no problem. That is not the case here in Wisconsin.

I am a retired teacher's wife. I do know something about the public employees in this state.

Did you take a look at Walker's budget proposal? It affects the poor and the middle class, not the wealthy.
Why keep collective bargaining if you don't - intend to barter for higher
[ In Reply To ..]
salaries and more bennies? Why not suspend it until the state is back healthy financially again? What is so wrong with asking that or agreeing to that for the good of ALL the workers in Wisconsin? Just asking.

Have not seen the budget proposal, but all a state can do is cut state programs, and yes, you are right, the rich are not on any programs. If the money is gone and some programs are not cut, that means higher taxes, because that is the government's only source of income. So, keep the programs, and raise the taxes of all the residents of the state. Is that the answer? Just askin'.

I'm a poor republican :( - hanging on by a thread!

[ In Reply To ..]
I think it is important to remember that teachers are not the only ones who make up Wisconsin's population. I personally feel like the unions are way out of line. They were begun for the protection of the people, but now they serve as a legal "mafia". Teachers should have rights and should receive decent pay. So should the rest of us.

Both my husband and I have received pay cuts within the last year and it has made life extremely difficult. Unfortunately, we have no one to bargain for us. We either find another job (hahahahahaha!) or suck it up and make adjustments. But, times are tough. Our country has given astronomical amounts to financial institutions and other countries for aid and now we are paying for it. I really think Wisconsin is the tip of the iceberg, and other states are going to follow suit.

What I DID see on MSNBC was Grothman calling - the protesters SLOBS. sm
