good recipe for mashed sweet potatoes stove top

Anyone know of any good recipes for mashed sweet potatoes stove top without maple syrup?

... a little brown sugar, pat or 2 of butter, pinch of salt, half & half to make the consistency you want, and a touch of vanilla extract (1/2 - 1 tsp.) gives a really special flavor.

Edit: Oops, forgot to mention that I also add cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice to taste.

Delicious sweet potato recipe - Yochana

Sweet Potato Delight

3 cups sweet potatoes that have been cooked, drained, and whipped.
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1/3 cup melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
Blend above ingredients and pour into 9x13 Pyrex (glass) pan

1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
Mix together and sprinkle on top of sweet potatoe mixture. Bake at 400 until golden brown on top.

although I do not like sweet potatoes, my mother-in-law does, and I will make this side dish for her as a special treat. She is pushing 80 and still works PT - so deserves something special.

Although she does deserve something special, this is my 2nd holiday season without my mom and my first without my dad (I lost both my parents 8 months apart). I would give anything if I could cook them something special - and seeing as though my mother-in-law is near 80 - there may not be too many more holidays with her. On top of that - it will make me feel good to give something small back to her, as she does so MANY small things throughout the year for me and my husband (he is her only child).

No one can ever take the place of your mom and dad. I still have my mother (79) and dad (78). Dad is blind with memory loss due to 3 strokes. I help take care of him and it's a challenge to say the least. But I think of all they sacrificed for me as a child and all their love....makes it all worthwhile. Dad was an only child also, but Mom has 9 brothers and sisters - all alive but one sister. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

I don't know if it's the same receipe, but I know there were pecans in it. I'll have to have him make me a little 'take-out' dish. I love sweet potatoes but DH doesn't. I used to buy Mrs. Paul's Candied Sweet Potatoes for Thanksgiving but no longer since there's only 2 of us.

Okay, just made a lemon bread. It is moist but not as lemony as I would like. Safeway makes a good lemony cake (or bread) thing. So moist and lemony and I'd like to make something similar. I have been trying to run down this extremely sweet smell. My husband and I are home but I have been working and he has not sprayed nor used anything that would cause such a smell.
