Mac-N-Cheese - Backwoods Typist

Below is a recipe that was in a local Social Services cookbook my mom bought me some years ago. Some tweaking may need to be done to get it "just right." My mom makes this for pot lucks and it never sticks around long. Just as an FYI some crock pots cook faster than others, such as programmable ones (at least in my experience). Hope you enjoy! Size of crock pot was not given in the recipe.

You will need:
8 oz macaroni, cooked
3 eggs, beaten
1 can evaporated milk
1 stick butter or margarine, melted
3 cups shredded cheese, plus some for topping.

Mix all ingredients in large bowl. Put in greased crock pot (size not given). Cover and cook for 3 hours on low. DO NOT remove lid until done.

Need Good Grits RecipeDec 04, 2014
Hi All- I had a really good shrimp and grits dinner a while back while on vacation. I've tried the Internet, but OMG, there are soooo many, I don't know where to begin. The recipe I had was with cheddar cheese, and the grits were ohhh, sooo, creamy. Someone gave me some grits (the real McCoy, not quick, not instant), and I'd love to use them. Anyone have any good grits recipes? I don't mean grits as a side for breakfast, I'm talking about as a meal for dinner ...

Looking For A Good Chicken Enchilada RecipeJan 29, 2012
Since watching so many episodes of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares we will probably never eat at another restaurant again LOL Hence, I am looking for recipes that will give us a variety of the food we love to eat. Right now I'm looking for a good chicken enchilada recipe. It's our favorite Mexican dish, actually DHs favorite is chile relleno, but that is way past my cooking skills. I figured chicken enchiladas should be pretty simple. I'd like to make them like the res ...

Anyone Have A Good Recipe For Pumpkin Custard?Nov 09, 2010
That way I can enjoy the taste without the guilt of pie crust.   Thanks!  By the way. . . A few weeks back someone posted a recipe for pumpkin cookies;  using the can of pumpkin and a spice cake mix.  I made those and took them to the campground for my friend's Halloween party.   They were a big hit, and so many people asked for the recipe.  Thanks so much!  So many compliments for something so easy!   I used the cream cheese frost ...

Need A Good Potluck Recipe For HOT Weather Get-togetherJul 15, 2010
We have a family reunion this weekend which is about an hour away from home.  We're supposed to bring a dish to pass.  It's supposed to be over 90 degrees on Saturday, so I need something that will travel well and be a good hot weather dish.  I believe they will be cooking out burgers, brats, etc. for the main dish.  Anybody got anything that they use that people just love?  I'd love some suggestions. ...

Anyone Have A Good Lemon Bread/cake RecipeDec 24, 2009
Okay, just made a lemon bread.  It is moist but not as lemony as I would like.  Safeway makes a good lemony cake (or bread) thing.  So moist and lemony and I'd like to make something similar.  This recipe I just made called for 3/4 c. lemon yogurt and 1 tablepoon lemon rind.  It is moist but not a real lemon flavor (faint lemon flavor).   I tried another recipe using a lemon cake and added a box of lemon pudding.  Again, most but not real lemony.   ...

Thanks in advance for any help with this one!  It's been so crazy around here that I forgot to order one.  Call me the terrible daughter. ...

Pat Robertson Isn't A Mac-and-cheese GuyNov 26, 2011
ROFLMAO! Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was asked about her favorite thing to eat at Thanksgiving in a recent interview with Kristi Watts of “The 700 Club.” "It's mac-and-cheese," Rice answered. "Sister, that is my dish, that is the one thing I can rock!" Watts said in agreement. Though Rice’s answer wasn’t all that interesting, Pat Robertson, co-host of “The 700 Club,” thought it was downright confusing. "What is this mac-and-chees ...

Trump’s Cheese In The Maze StrategyJun 20, 2017
Operation Overlord, the most successful amphibious invasion in history, was in no small part successful due to the most effective deception and disinformation campaign in history. The key to the Allies completely fooling the Germans as to the real location of the invasion (Normandy) as opposed to where Adolf Hitler thought the troops would land (Calais)—thus meaning all the German generals who wanted their jobs had to think that as well—was the Allies knew what Hitler believed and just playe ...

My in-laws are doing christmas eve brunch, and I am told to bring some type of hashbrown casserole. Cookie Recipe?Oct 20, 2009
My grandmom and my mom used to make these cookies at Christmas that were made with baking ammonia, yup, ammonia.  Sounds awful and the stuff smells horrible too.  You had to buy it from a pharmacist, and they still do sell it.  I did ask before going on this search!   They were the most wonderful cookies.  They would just melt in your mouth.  All I recall is that they were round cookies with kind of little cracks all around the edges and you coated them wi ...

A Great RecipeJan 01, 2013
A woman I met some weeks ago gave me a recipe for crustless pumpkin pie.  I went on line and found one which varied somewhat from hers.  (She uses egg beaters and Splenda in her recipe because her husband is diabetic, etc.)   The recipe I used was perfect!   If anyone would like to try it (maybe for next season) I will gladly share it.  It is great not having to worry about making a perfect crust, which is not my strong point.   I never heard of a cru ...

Is It Rude To Ask Someone For A RecipeMay 25, 2013
