Appalled at book in B&N and its placement

I am not a goody two shoes or a puritan, but a Barnes & Noble I was in this weekend has the new book "Go the F to Sleep" at the very bottom of the escalator on a shelf so that when children are leaving the upstairs children's section, it is at eye level for them to see. I glanced through the book, was completely disgusted by it, asked for a manager, made my complaint and handed him the 7 books in my arms to him and asked him to please re-shelve them as I would spend my money elsewhere. He kep calling after me as I walked away but I completely ignored him. Some adults may find it humorous, I did not.

Okay, I feel better.

I don't find the title amusing and it was even uglier after the segment where they think Casey Anthony used chloroform to put Caylee to sleep so she could party.

I think the title of the book is inappropriate and the author opportunistic. If you don't want responsibilities of being a parent and all that comes with it, don't have kids.

I just downloaded 7 more books to my Nook to make up for the ones you put back. I remember the fuss made when the Harry Potter books first came out. Censorship anyone?

I first heard this read out loud on a clip on Facebook, and absolutely loved it, could not stop laughing. It is definitely something most parents can identify with.
That said - I thought it was a joke! I never thought they would actually publish this! It's great as a joke, like an "in joke" just for us parents, but I cannot believe they could be that crass as to not only sell it at B&N but to display it where children can see. I agree with the OP completely!

Ok, I understand the irritation about where the book was placed. I don't want my 10-yo seeing this and thinking that kind of language is cool. That being said, lighten up a little with the book itself. There is such a thing as adult humor (meaning not for children). We're entitled. We're grown. I am a single parent and have been for many years. Of course, I chose to have my children and would do it again in a heartbeat. I would literally die for my kids as would most parents. But seriously, there are times as a parent you swear your going to pull each one of your hairs out individually. If you think the toddlers are bad, try the teenagers. No I wouldn't nor would most anyone else EVER do anything like Casey Anthony and it has never even crossed our minds, but there are days where if you don't laugh, your gonna cry or lose your mind. Parenting is hard and no one said it wouldn't be, but some days...I have told my kids at one time or another to go to their rooms for their best interest, lol. As I said I wouldn't want my 10-yo reading this, but my 20-yo, who did help babysit the younger one at times, would get a huge kick out of it. Even he knows you can love your kids more than your own life and still reach wits end sometimes. My advice to ANYONE having kids, especially those who think they will just be ADORABLE all the time is please arm yourself with a sense of humor before you have kids...you're gonna need it.

They are losing any sleep that you did not purchase any books there. They have as much right to put their books whereever they want to. He was calling after you as you walked away? Uh-huh...okay, sure he was.

you cannot honestly say that at one time or another you have not felt just a little bit like this. As another poster said, this is "adult" humor, not meant for kids. My 22-year-old thought it was hilarious, I told her just wait--you will understand it after you have kids.

I'm mid 30s and this may sound a bit juvenile, but I LOVED the Twilight series. I could not stop reading them! I read when I get on the treadmill, so it worked great that I would want to read chapter after chapter. Someone recommended the True Blood series to me, but I couldn't really get into it. Finally got my hands on a copy of Game Change. I am really enjoying the behind the scenes look at the last pres campaign. All of the candidates are presented as real human beings - flaws and all. Interesting look at conflict between Biden and Obama, the whole Edwards fiasco and Hill and Bill. And, if you are troubled by Palin's inadequacies now, you will not be comforted by reading this book. ...

The book is a work of fiction but based on facts. I was blown away by what I read and learned from reading this book. It does not really surprise me that the drug company has put profits in front of human safety, but to put a drug on the market that is so toxic, it has a warning label that says to wear protective clothing when handling this drug and may be harmful if swallowed!
