the phone book is better....

Posted: Jan 8, 2010

It if wasn't so sad, it would be funny.  45% of Americans think that random people from the phone book would do a better job than the current Congress!

Think about it - the random people from the phone book probably hold down regular jobs, pay their taxes and live in the real world. They are not (yet) corrupt like those in the House and Congress who feel entitled to all kinds of perks and don't have to worry where their next paycheck is coming from.

You know something? I was just thinking that earlier today. And I agree with that 45% because I am so disgusted from the president on down, it's not funny. Don't think for a minute that I'm not all over one of my candidates when they do something stupid. Crap rolls downhill. Our government is full of corruption, tax deadbeats, wifebeaters, you name it.

If I became prez, I'd be assassinated within 6 months, if that. I'd close our borders, nuke Iraq, send a large amount of troops to Afghanistan to attack fast and frequently and finish the job ASAP. I'd hoard up the illegals and throw them out. I'd build a nice big wall between the U.S. and Mexico. I'd cut taxes big time on businesses here in the U.S., and tax them to death if they took their business overseas. I'd cut social spending by weeding out the people who are able to work but don't, and the Welfare generations that have become a problem for us. Let them pick up trash or whatever. I'd have automatic assassination for convicted terrorists. And they would be public executions.

See? I told you they'd kill me inside of 6 months. LOL. I am just disgusted with the way things are now.

I'm sorry for folks who like SML Reid but what he and others in the gov't have done is taxation w/o representation. The majority of the people did NOT want gov't health care but we're getting it in some form or another any way and we're going to be severely taxed for it! Somehow, we went from what the people want to what our elected officials think is best for us. I wrote Reid an E-mail, asking about my future and my job. I ended by telling him I hoped he was fond of dogs, because he'd be spending eternity with the Hounds of Hell. No, it wasn't nice, but he's hardly been a sweetheart lately either. Pelosi just makes me want to scratch her eyes out.

LOl. Thanks. I told you, I'd be assassinated within 6 months if that. I wouldn't want that job for the world. And I say that if you're president, you deserve all you get. You ran for the position, you wanted it, you got it. Your problem now.

What I fail to figure out is why the dems couldn't come up with someone with at least a little dynamic in the last couple of elections. I mean, John Kerry? Come on. And Gore? Puhleeze. Is he even human? Same way with repubs. Even Romney couldn't beat out McCain, who looks like a beat up old man? I understand his war injuries and all, and that's the reason he's so stiff, but not everyone else did and I feel he lacked dynamic because of it. And our gene pool in politics is so small that we're electing fathers and sons? I'm far from a Bush hater. Believe me. But he and his father veered so far from Reagan, it wasn't funny.

When I went to high school, there were 4.5 million people in the U.S. Last estimate I heard was 6 million. And we can't find better people to represent us? It's like hypocrisy when they talk about the Yemen and Afghan governments being corrupt. Perhaps they need to do a little more looking in their own back yards.

No politician safely has my vote right now. I'd rather leave the ballot blank unless my party can stand up and remember what it is supposed to stand for. What the heck is going on, conservative amnesia? I wish we could just fire them all and start over.

And for you Bush bashers, look at the democrat majority he had and what happened to the economy. Look at Clinton and see the republican majority he had after 1994 and what happened.

Like I've said before, the prez is like an NFL QB, gets too much credit when things go good and too much blame when they go bad. But as that Toyota commercial used to say years ago - you asked for it, you got it, Toyota. They know what they're getting into and are not above criticism.
That's exactly what I said last election! - Old part-timer

This is it? These are the BEST the USA has to offer? We have a huge country with a heck of a lot of people and we can't come up with anything better than Bush, Gore, McCain, Obama? C'mon people. I don't want to think this is as good as it gets. There HAS to be something better out there.

BTW, my husband gets on kicks about how if he was president, he'd do this and that and I tell him the same thing - he would be assassinated in 6 months, tops.
First of all you need to educate yourself. The US population...sm - anon

is now estimated to be over 300 million. If the people of your party want to be respected they need to educate themselves and get their facts straight.

So how would you handle - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
the economic collapse after the mass exodus morphs into secession and Civil War II breaks out? This may come as a shock, but there are not too many mainstream citizens who would standby idly and witness a fascist takeover, let alone allow their country to become such an ugly place to call home.

I don't know - Vikefan

[ In Reply To ..]
I don't know but I can see that happening. It would be very bloody and ugly and a sad part of history of our country. People are already stocking up on ammo, guns and food. Have any of you tried to buy ammo lately? The counters are almost always empty. It would be utter chaos and I think O would declare a military state but at this point, there's not a lot of, from what I've heard, military members who would follow through with that. They also feel their constitution is being stomped on. I don't event presume to know the answers. I just know that people better be prepared just in case... I can see a potential economic collapse. We buy extra canned goods, bottled water, dog food and whatever, whenever we can. Then we would have to worry about defending that food. It would be a very scary time.
There is something to be said about the comany we keep. - sm

I don̢۪t know anybody who is stocking up on ammo and guns and do not lose a lot sleep over the empty counters at the local guns and bullets store. We certainly do not feel a pressing need to prepare for Armageddon. Guess I don̢۪t hang around the right websites, glean the same news sources, attend the same type of church or live in the same parts of the country where this kind of fear dominates or where those values are promoted.

I̢۪ve been around a tad more than 6 decades and even in the darkest hours of the peaceful vs violent social revolution and upheavels, civil rights and antiwar movements, subversive radicalization of population groups, serial assassinations of our leaders, burgeoning drug use, catastrophic increase in crime, explosion of technology, more senseless wars, nuclear threats, the advent of terrorism, etcetera, never once did it occur to me or anyone I know that armed conflict with my fellow citizens was imminent or had any answers to offer. It saddens me to hear that unabated political partisanship has brought us to this brink and that there are people out there who harbor such fears to the extent that their lives are affected to that degree. I can assure you of one thing, though. Mr. Obama will not be declaring a military state anytime soon.

Could I ask you a question? Are the terms fascism and socialism synonymous to you?
"the company we keep"? Oh how perfect. Might - wanna tell Obama that. If you
[ In Reply To ..]
look at so many of his past associations, it says a lot of SCARY stuff about him. So, yes, the company we keep says a lot about us, definitely about character.
Far be it for me to try to convince folks that - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
living in fear, preparing for Armageddon and armed conflict with fellow citizens is probably not the best prescription for recovery and unity. If that's what floats your boat, go for it, but I still think it is sad. Also, running scared away from issues with knee-jerk Obama bashing is also a huge part of the problems the republican party is facing, not the solution.

My Mom And Her Cell PhoneJan 07, 2015
After years of hounding my mom and dad about not having a cell phone especially when driving long distances in our cold, wintry state, my mom actually went out all on her own  and bought an inexpensive prepaid cell phone. She is very proud of the fact that she has a cell phone and knows how to add minutes, etc. The problem is that she will NOT turn it on because it "runs down the battery." What's A Good Phone Company?Mar 09, 2010
