ANIMAL PLANET'S PUPPY BOWL X (2014)

Posted: Feb 3, 2014

Did any of you watch Puppy Bowl X on the Animal Planet channel?  It was SO adorable, and all of the 4-legged participants are rescue pups and have been adopted.  I love all of these little creatures, but my favorite is Mandy, a Dachshund.  You can go to the Animal Planet website and vote for your favorite MVP after every airing of the show.   It is sure to bring some much-needed smiles to your face.

I watch it every year. It has really become very popular over the past couple years, and it is for such a good cause. That referee has my job! They were all so cute.

Love it too...SM - Old Anon

but my favorite part is the Kitten Half Time Show. Did they have that this year? I had to miss the whole thing this year because I was working. Wonder if I can catch it on the website?

Need Opinions/help What To Do About A PuppyNov 18, 2009
We had a black lab puppy show up at our house about 12 days ago.  I have drove around looking for signs for a missing dog (small community) and nothing.   I have been feeding this little angel because I CANNOT starve a dog no matter who it might belong to. It had a collar on (no tags) but the collar was so tight on his neck that I waited but finally changed it out.  I have come to find out that a 4th grader on my kids bus says the dog is his.  I told the kiddos to tell him th ...

Need Puppy Advice!Jan 10, 2011
I need some advice! we adoped a beautiful 6 week old puppy, golden/yellow lab mix. When we went to pick her up at the home of the owner, there was 1 puppy left (out of a litter of 13!) whose family had backed out and didn't want her. My hubby decided we couldn't leave her there alone and so we took her too. Now we have 2 8 week old puppies (females). We are presently crate-training but only using 1 crate as we were only expecting to bring home one dog. They are doing fine, except havin ...

PBS Dust Bowl Series - Nov 19, 2012
One of the things that struck me was the naivete of the people (especially those not directly affected).  When the dust finally got out east, the solutions offered were to "pave the southwest with asphalt" and send all the old junk cars there for wind barriers.  Around here, we will have a very cold day, and people will smirk and say "Sure wish that global warming would come." (or in summer vice-versa).  Many people do not understand the increase in strength of these tornadoes an ...

Bohemia Crystal Glass BowlJul 03, 2016
I've had this beautiful crystal bowl from the Czech Republic for years. It has never been used and is still in the box. I'd like to put it on the breakfast bar as a decoration, but what do I put in it? It won't be real or fake fruit. Empty? Potpourri? It's quite large, approximately 4 inches high and 9 inches across. Any suggestions would be helpful. ...

A Different Super Bowl Matchup: Politics Versus The NFLFeb 02, 2017
Sunday night in Houston, is infused with national politics like never before. Fox’s pregame telecast will include an interview of President Trump by Bill O’Reilly. The owner, coach and star player of one team, the highly successful New England Patriots, are friends of the president’s. Last Sunday, hundreds of people opposed to the president’s immigration policy protested at the convention center where the N.F.L. is holding many of its events for fans. Certain gases in the atmosphere block heat from escaping. Long-lived gases, remaining semi-permanently in the atmosphere, which do not respond physically or chemically to changes in temperature are describe ...

Ten Things To Expect From Obamacare In 2014Oct 17, 2013
Obamacare's health exchanges opened on October 1. Hopefully you weren't one of the unlucky guinea pigs who attempted to sign up with a system so crummy that even the Washington Post is calling it a disaster. Given that the impact of Obamacare will only grow from here on out, Casey Research asked acclaimed Obamacare expert Dr. Lee Vliet what we should expect as the calendar turns to 2014. Importantly, Dr. Vliet is independent in every sense of the word. Not only is she an indepen ...

Volunteering At Animal ShelterNov 17, 2009
I'm thinking about volunteering at my local animal shelter, but I'm having conflicting feelings.  I'm a MAJOR animal lover, and I'm not sure if I can see animals in those conditions with nobody to love them and still be able to function and sleep at night without bringing them all home with me.  I have 3 dogs and 2 cats of my own, and definitely would not have anymore room for another animal.  I just want to feel like I helped and did a little bit of good for t ...

We have stray cats that come around our neighborhood and we've been feeding them.  I know, I know, a mistake, but they were little kittens at the time mostly and so cute.  Now that mating season is upon us, I think there are about 2 or 3 pregnant ones.  I know I shouldn't have started this, but how do I stop?  I don't know if any of the other neighbors feed them or not, and it will make me sick if I see them starving.  What to do?  Sometimes there are ...

GOP In GRAVE Danger Of Losing House In 2014Oct 06, 2013

The GAO Identifies $45 BILLION In Redundant Programs In 2014Apr 20, 2015
The federal government has no idea how many tax dollars it’s wasting on redundant federal programs every year—but it’s likely in the neighborhood of $45 billion. That’s according to the Government Accountability Office, which identified more than two dozen new areas of inefficiency and overlap in its annual reportto Congress. This is on top of the more than 160 redundant areas that the GAO has identified in its three previous reports. “It's impossible to ...
