By 2 hundredths of 1 degree centigrade. And NASA scientists are only 38% sure of this.
The sky is falling! The sky is falling!!
LOL
;
Acceleration in global warming is a long-term trend that has not shown any cooling reversals since the 1970s with an overall rise of 0.7 C in global mean temperature since the advent of automobile carbon emissions. The same trend is shown in the rising incidents of weather extremes and disruption in normal weather patterns like flooding, drought, early snow melts, wildfires, "Snowmageddon" of 2010, sporadic periods of low hurricane activity interspersed with more intense superstorms, glacial melts, wetter winters, drier summers and such. Resulting environmental impacts from major alteration of ecological systems hold disastrous potentials.
Scientists will be the first to admit their sky-is-falling parameters are uncertain, but tend to agree that the panic button should be pushed somewhere between a 2C- and 4C-rise in global mean temperatures. That when rising sea levels bury major coastal cities (and their support of various human population economies) and major agricultural systems collapse. Science deniers are willing to gamble with the future of the planet. The rest of us are not.
