Why we're in trouble in this country.

We're in trouble because democracy absolutely depends on an electorate that is sufficiently well educated to be able to assess the claims of candidates, to reject the falsehoods and misinformation that political campaigns, their supporters and the press spew into the atmosphere, darkening the sky in an effort to hide the truth from the light of day, and having the ability and the intellectual honesty to objectively judge the character of those who aspire to political office.

Democracy is for those who possess the ability to think for themselves. It's for people who know when something is proven - and when it is not. It's for people who can't be hoodwinked by misrepresentations, and cannot be bought with government money. It's for people who will not repeat any party line that they have not tested and proven to themselves to be true.

That's why we're in trouble.

Correction - the fall of this country started 2 months before Obama was even elected. The financial crash began in August of 2008- I know because I was laid off then. This happened because the previous administration of 8 years had allowed all of these big greedy company CEOs suck all the profits out for themselves and let their companies to bankrupt while collecting their fat bonuses and buying their yachts. Then, when faced with the start of an avalanche of collapse, the newly sworn in president had to do something to keep some of the biggest companies in our country from going bankrupt and laying off more employees than they already did and collapsing our whole financial system completely - and so began the bailouts! I am not an Obama fan, but I do know that the previous administration was not the pretty little picture that Republicans like to paint while they throw mud at the current one. What we need is to throw the whole lot of them out and replace them with some of the hard working people in this country who are honest and care about restoring our once great country to what it was and what our forefathers had envisioned we should be!

The fall began with the real estate market, Dodd-Frank to be precise. Remember that? All under a democrat-controlled house and senate.

It wasn't because of Bush's policies. It was because of the Democratically-controlled Congress who blocked everything on the word of Barney Fife. in August, 2008, he stated there was nothing wrong with the financial markets, especially Fannie and Freddie, who made considerable donations to Barney's political campaigns over the years.

Barney blamed Bush for the housing crisis when, in reality, Bush tried to reform FM/FM in 2004-2005, which was always met with denial and blocking of legislation to do so. While the White House was unable to push through meaningful reforms five years ago, that's in good part because Frank did his best to thwart them.

2003: "The more people exaggerate a threat of safety and soundness, the more people conjure up the possibility of serious financial losses to the Treasury, which I do not see. I think we see entities that are fundamentally sound financially and withstand some of the disastrous scenarios."

The housing crisis really started under CLINTON. The affordable housing law required Fannie and Freddie to meet government quotas when they bought loans from banks and other mortgage originators. Barney decided the quotas should be raised so everyone could own a home and the birth of the subprime mortgages began. Barney was the one who pushed these quotas.

By 2007, the quota was up to 55% and by that time, Congress was completely controlled by the Dems. In August 2008, he claimed there was nothing wrong with the housing market a/k/a/ Fannie and Freddie. "I think this is a case where Fannie and Freddie are fundamentally sound, that they are not in danger of going under. They're not the best investments these days from the long-term standpoint going back. I think they are in good shape going forward."

That was 2 months BEFORE the crash and AFTER the Dems took total control of Congress in 2007.

It was only after things started crumbling that he did an about fact to try and talk Congress into stricter regulations of the banking industry.

Think tank projecting change in population that goes on to state the main cause of death will be suicide or behavior that leads to early death (alcohol, accidents, dangerous situations/crime). It has been a project of mine to follow these events from a global prospective and it appears that all nations including China and Iran are members of Agenda 21. The baby boomers and pensioners across the globe have been left without a govt representative of them. Funding the fight on terrorism and wars has bankrupted all our nations, and the banks have resorted to predatory lending, as our wealth as the collateral, to ensure this is accomplished.

I am terrified. I hope you read all you can on the subject so you can understand better the precarious position we as a middle class, all colors, religious, political views, are facing elimination.
